Do you really want the footnotes to appear on two pages? As Herbert says, you
can prevent this by using \interfootnotelinepenalty=1 in latex preamble.

I suppose the solution you intend to use is not very professional in terms of
typography although some word processors support this. TeX tries to avoid it
- see the UK TeX FAQ at http://www.ntg.nl/doc/fairbairns/newfaq.pdf (Q 218,

What about

As Geoffrey just mentioned, LaTeX (and that also means Lyx) is not really

Have you tried something like \renewcommand{\thetable}{\arabic{table}} in the

Rich,

You may insert a specific page number on any page by using \setcounter{page}
{XXX} as ERT.

Have you enabled the standard toolbar to be shown? You may find out by right-

Sorry for top-posting. If the toolbar is shown the environment choice box
should be part of it and it should probably appear on top of the vertical
toolbar. You can move the toolbar by dragging it using your mouse. It will
change its shape according to the place where you insert it.

Marius,

I can reproduce this behaviour, which seems to be associated with the memoir
class. Very configurable but tricky, as announced at

Is there a specific reason why you are not using scrbook?

The testciting.lyx file just complains for not finding articles.bib, which you

Thank you. Sorry, no MikTeX around here, only texlive. Your testciting file
just needed some fine-tuning. You have to load the biblatex-citation-styles
module, hide the references in the end of your text, add \printbibliography as
ERT, and add some stuff to the preamble. What I used here comes from a recent
paper I wrote, which was in German and followed the APA style. But this is of
course highly configurable.

Joel,

I cannot confirm your observation. I have the user guide in German and the
cross-reference command for GIF you are mentioning correctly creates a list
entry for “Grafikformate” (image formats). This is LyX 2.3.3 and Linux
(openSUSE).

I understood there should be an index entry for "image formats” (which appears
in your output correctly referring to p. 71), not for „GIF”.

Wolfgang,

I suspect this is about changes in German orthography around 1996. Does it
help to set the language to German in the document settings?

In similar situations, I have achieved good results with utf8 both for the

Joel,

The makeidx documentation is rather clear that there should be a primary entry
for a specific notion (”GIF” in the example) and a second entry for the more
general category which is referenced (”image formats”). If one of them does
not appear in the index, the processing does not work as expected. I tried out
alternative index processors but the result was always the same. So I don't
have a theory where this behaviour is triggered. I guess you should file a bug
to get the experts involved.

Have you tried the marginnote package? I suppose this should work with

Why don't you just export your document via File -> Export? My machine shows me
five
options to export to LaTeX but I don't think this depends on the operating
system you are
using.

Please don't top-post to keep the thread.

As the tutorial tells you: "Select File->Export->LaTeX. This will create a file
whatever.tex from
the whatever.lyx file you are editing.”

The file will be created in the directory where whatever.lyx resides.
(Unfortunately this is
not made explicit in the English version of the tutorial I have installed but
it is in translations
such as the German one.)

What was your reason to convert to LaTeX (plain)? In typical cases LaTeX
(pdflatex) or even
LaTeX (XeTex) might be a better alternative. This depends on your file
specifications, which
we don't know about. And I just learned LaTeXiT was rather an equation editor...

Good morning,

starting from line 847 of your log file you find the following information:

LaTeX Warning: There were undefined references.
Package biblatex Warning: Please (re)run Biber on the file:
(biblatex)biological-evaluation
(biblatex)and rerun LaTeX afterwards.

Rich,

I'm aware what a warning is. This one explicitly tells you what to do: you
have to "run Biber on the file biological-evaluation and rerun LaTeX
afterwards‟. Biber's messages tend to be very helpful in cases where you don't
get the bibliography you want.

You might include the following in your preamble:

\renewcommand{\thesection}{\Roman{section}}
\renewcommand{\thesubsection}{\Alph{subsection}}
\renewcommand{\thesubsubsection}{\arabic{subsubsection}}
\usepackage{chngcntr}
\counterwithout{paragraph}{subsubsection}
\renewcommand{\theparagraph}{\alph{paragraph}}
\setcounter{secnumdepth}{4}

If you prefer to indent the headings, you will need further adjustments. Of
course this way of sectioning is not only relevant for speeches but also for
some journal submissions.

KOMA Script does not require specific fonts. For the base size, you may just

Colin,

the developer of tex4ht recommends to use the most recent version to be found
at http://www.cse.ohio-state.edu/~gurari/TeX4ht/bugfixes.html.

The *.lg file is a script supposed to be produced by tex4ht; see

g-brief and LaTeX Errors

2002-09-02 Thread Axel Dessecker

Hello,

I am currently writing a long letter of several pages using the g-brief
document class. Although long letters should be possible, a LaTeX error
occurs at the end of the document if the letter exceeds one page. It says:
"Something's wrong - perhaps a missing \item." There is just the letter text
there, no list environment. Any ideas?

Thank you.

scrpage2.sty has been deprecated for nine years or so. If it's in your

If I get you right, you are struggling with coloured formulas. See subsection

My tex version is the same as yours.

refstyle.cfg is twelve years old and it still works, which implies some
stability. I would rather suspect a font issue but haven't found the culprit.

Hal,

This instruction is misleading indeed. My version says you should try
Alt+Enter+Right.

Vertical alignment in tables

2024-08-14 Thread Axel Dessecker via lyx-users
Hi,

Thank you for table improvements in 2.4.0. Unfortunately I still have problems
to vertically align text.

In the MWE, row 3 is shown to be vertically centered but this does not seem to
work. From column 3 to the right, all cells in this row are correctly shown as
vertically top-aligned but I'm not allowed to change this.

I have 2.4.1, openSUSE Leap 15.5.

Thanks for any suggestions,
Axel
