LaTeX cls class on LyX
Hello, I'm having trouble using a LaTeX cls document class on LyX. I'm using LyX 2.3.7 and TeX Live 2022.20230122 on Debian. I've copied the cls file (classname.cls) into ~/texmf/tex/latex/classname and ran texhash. Now, I can compile the example .tex file on some other directory using pdflatex. Output is generated as intended. Then, I have asked LyX to reconfigure and restarted it. Still, when I go to "Document -> Settings -> Document Class" the class is not there. Please help. -- Bruno Schneider -- lyx-users mailing list lyx-users@lists.lyx.org http://lists.lyx.org/mailman/listinfo/lyx-users

Document stoped compileing with strange error: LaTeX Error: Missing begin{document}.
Hi all, I was writing the introduction to my PhD thesis and since the references to some pictures were showing up as ?? I changed the label of one of those pictures in the hopes that it solved the problem. Well, it didn't, in fact I can't compile my thesis anymore. Now it fails with the error LaTeX Error: Missing begin{document} I tried to delete that picture to no avail, I also tried to create a new document and copy past everything but it didn't work as well. Fwd: Is there a template for "User Guide", like the one used for Lyx
Hello, I would like to use Lyx to create User guides and Technical reference documents about computer/software. They usually includes menus like "File -> Save as .., sample code, file names, program outputs ... (Typically, what Docbook includes by default.) After some research, I didn't find anything obvious. Found: - http://wiki.lyx.org/Layouts/Layouts or http://www.latextemplates.com/ all beautiful, but nothing about computer science. - http://www.ctan.org/pkg/refman or memoir but they are old and maybe not directly usable in Lyx I am not against learning some Latex commands, but I would like to start rapidly and with a layout that would be close and perene for computer science. I found that the Lyx "User Guide" is quite close to what I would like to do. But I didn't find a template matching its document class "book (Koma script)". My very simple question would be: can I just open the doc/UserGuide.lyx, save it as myfile.lyx and start modifying the document ?? or is it a bad idea? Is there some place to gather around a common subjects like mathematics, poetry/hollywood, chemistry, chess/music/recipes, journal, books ... Thanks -- Bruno VERNAY
Citation of Authors With the Same Last Name with Natbib
Hi, I've got 2 authors with the same last name and I'm using Natbib. How can I show the initials of the first names of these authors? To do something like this: (R.A Harris, 1995) (Z.S Harris, 1951) Now in both cases, only surname appears. And if I put them together, LyX shows (Harris, 1995, 1951). What should I do? In the bibtex, they appear as: @BOOK{harris1951methods, title = {{Methods in structural linguistics}}, publisher = {University of Chicago Press Chicago}, year = {1951}, author = {Harris, Z.S.} } @BOOK{harris1995linguistics, title = {{The linguistics wars}}, publisher = {Oxford University Press, USA}, year = {1995}, author = {Harris, R.A.} } Thanks a lot. -- View this message in context: http://lyx.475766.n2.nabble.com/Citation-of-Authors-With-the-Same-Last-Name-with-Natbib-tp5190503p5190503.html Sent from the LyX - Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

My problem is partially solved. After creating a new file from New from template->Elsearticle.lyx, I must do Document->settings-PDF Properties and select Use hyperref support to avoid the errors I described in my previous post. But I receive similar errors (but not only 2, very much more) when I try to view the pdf of my elsearticle file that I created modifing the Elsearticle.lyx which I obtained when installed the Elsearticle class. Evidently there is something in my file which conflict with the hyperref support (I receive errors also if I do not insert any hyperref in my file but only set the "Use hyperref support"). I'll go to try to understand which is the conflicting part that I inserted and, eventually, I'll askk again for help. Thank you. Re: Elseartice on Lyx
Ohhh, problem solved. My packages was downloaded from ftp.uniRoma2.it and package psnfss did not contain pifont.psy !!! As I said I added pifont.psy at that package but after that I obtained the problem I said. So I deleted the package and downloaded it again from a different link: ftp.uni-erlagen.de now the package contains the file pifont.sty. After reconfigured Lyx and opened elsarticle template, when I went to view the pdf, Lyx asked me first time to update somethingh (I do not remember what) and the pdf opened wthout any problem. If I repeat the open of the template and ask for the pdf I obtain it without any problem (and without any further request to dowload somethngh). Seems that the psnfss package dowloadable from ftp.uniRoma2.it should be corrected. Thank you very much to any of you. Hello, Sorry i deleted the first mail so maybe I will not give a proper reply. My opinion is that you cannot generate a pdf file from a latex file containing movie15 commands using lyx. Double quotes not working correctly
I used to have open/close double quotes (`` and '') working correctly, but since I upgrade to v1.5 they don't work anymore. I get only a standard ", no matter how I configure the quotes. I think this might be connected to a keyboard or enconding issue. Any tips? Thanks a lot, Bruno
new layout
Hy, I want to have the title of my document with a gray background. I managed to do that in this way using xcolor and the text inside a Box(minipage) so that 100% col has the appropriate background. I did the following: \begin_layout Standard \begin_inset ERT status open \begin_layout Standard \backslash colorbox{gray}{ \end_layout \end_inset \end_layout \begin_layout Standard \begin_inset Box Frameless position "t" hor_pos "c" has_inner_box 1 inner_pos "t" use_parbox 0 width "100col%" special "none" height "1in" height_special "totalheight" status open \begin_layout Standard THE TITLE IS HERE \end_layout \end_inset \end_layout \begin_layout Standard \begin_inset ERT status open \begin_layout Standard } \end_layout \end_inset \end_layout / Now I want to make it an environment. The problem is the following then: The "begin part" of my environment contains an open bracket which is closed in my "end part". Within those two brackets there's it the text of the title that I woud be able to insert... Is there a way to do that? I want to be able to just click in lyx style menu, choose i.e. Title, type in the title and this one would be rendered in the pdf with a grey background ... Thanx
