Hi folks, I was writing my dissertation under lyx 1.0.3 and updated to 1.1.16. However a doc file which would compile just ok under the older version now does not work on 1.1.16 (there appears over 140 erros). The file has not been changed at all how can i sort it out? thanks!

Hi I et. al means and others (in latin), and it is used in some bibliographich styles to supress authors names, when they are more than 3. Apa like will process such abreviation only in the citation, in the body of the text, but not in the bibliography, when all the authors are present. i don't know any latex command, but you can do it pretty well under linux or unix envoirment though 'sort' command, which is part of text-utilities. Hi, I have to replace a regular expression in my thesis. But when i tried: edit --> search/replace I found out that I can't type any kind of accents, and this expression has an aacute {á}. Hi I'm writing a research report with lots of pictures and any time I user lyx cross-reference device I cannot get the proper number under my references. For exmple, in the chapter 3 four pictures are present 3.1 blah blah blah Label: fig 1 3.2 blah blah blah Label: fig 2 3.3 blah blah blah Label: fig 3 3.4 blah blah blah Label: fig 4 When I insert a cross -references for such figures in my text all references are numbered 3.1, it does not matter which label I'm using. Hi Im trying to convert ordinary *ps files to eps (encapsulated postscript). Im currently using ps2epsi but there are some problems, since it does convert my file but, when I try to see it through Ghostview, I just flashes on screen for a second. Hi folks, thanks you all for the hints on the bibliography styles!!! Now I'm trying to use a bibliography package called apacite, but some problems are happening: I installed the package, wrote \usepackage {apacite} on my preamble and used lyx's features on bibliography, generating my bibliography from a bibtex file. However, when I ask for a ps or dvi preview, the follwing error message appears: !Latex Error; something's wrong -- perhaps a missin \item l.3 \end{thebibliography} but I did not use any latex comandd, jst added the bibliography using lyx. how could I fix it? thank you []s rlopes

I'm using apalike references style which formats each entry like (key, year), but in some cases, not all, I need an entry such as (year). Is there any way of doing this and keep using apalike styles? 2 . How should I manage to have two tables side-by-side in a page, each which its own caption? 3. Is there any way to change headings' font? I'm using a fancy page style, and it automatically use times font, but I need it in helvetica (or similar). Is it possible? hi I need to include some graphics on my thesis which I generate by using an ordinary spreadsheet and printing as non-encapsulated postscript files. After this, I try to convert them to encapsulated but the follow problems show up: - the GIMP software makes my graphics quite blur, almost impossible to read; - whem I try to use the ps2epsi tool both ghostview and my DVI viewer do not read the file properly, I get only flashes of it, when I reload teh flie. When I try to print it, the system reads the follwing message: /rangecheck in .installpagedevice Operand stack: --nostringval -- Does anybody know any program which could make such convertions, edit the postcript or generate graphics in the right format? date and fonts
Hi folks I've got 2 problems on my lyx edited documents: 1) my article style places a date just after authors name, which is not allowed where I'm used to publishing, so I need to rget rid of it; 2) Whem I produce PDF flies (from a previous PS, which looks perfectly) and try to see it through acroabat reader, doc's fonts look and print quite blur. floats and tables
Hi folks, I need to write some tables which are 2 or three pages long. However when I activate my longtable support my tables' floats are placed by the beging of the second page, by the pages' break, not at the begining of the table (on the first page) as they should be. I need them to be placed at the begging of the tables, as a norm from the univerty I write to. How can I sort it out? very thanks []s rlopes

Hi folks I need a thesis style suitable for Lyx 1.0.1 and tetex-latex 0.9.2. Despite of the fact I have downloaded UC-thesis style from ftp.lyx.org:/pub/lyx/contrib it crashes when I try to see post scriptt, dvi flies or when I ask it to be printed. the error prints as follows: !LaTeX error: There's no line here to end i.26 \begin{document} I am a real beginer on linux, lyx and latex and I don't have any idea how to solve it or where to get a suitable style Thank you []s rlopes

Hy everibidy I'm running lyx on a Pentium II 350 within o tetex-latex 0.9.2. I'm trying to install a new document class named CU-thesis. I ccopied teh file thesis.cls to /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/base/ and three othe files: indentfirst.sty setspace.sty ulem.sty to /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/tools/ and finaly thesis.layout to /usr/local/share/lyx/layouts/ However, the folowing error message appears when I run ./configure +checking for document class thesis [thesis.cls]... no How could I sort it out? Hi folks I'm quite a new user of lyx. and latex. I'm running lyx on a Pentium II 350 within a tetex-latex 0.9.2. So, I've got two problems: 1) I'm trying to install a package with the University of Toronto Thesis Style, but a don't know the right procedures. Two files are provided: ut-thesis.tex and ut-thesis.cls. How should I do to finish my instalation? 2) how do I include captions in pictures and tables? Thanx a lot []s rlopes

I've got some trouble on importing ps picutres. whem I import it, it gets ok on the screan, but whem I try to produce *dvi or *.ps flies, the picture doesn't appear, I can see only a blank page and, sometimes flashes of it.
