You can always "roll your own". If you look at the beamer theme style
files, they mainly just load specific inner and outer themes, color
themes etc. So you could take one that's a bit gaudier than what you
have in mind and remove elements, or mix and match elements (with some
experimentation) to concoct a new one. Or, of course, you could just
make a template out of what I sent you, if in fact it's entirely to your
liking. (I'm never one to rule out the path of least resistance.)

That is a good idea, Paul. I will try to implement it.

See the attached. You put the author's name in as a "short author name"
by positioning the cursor at the start of the author field and typing
'optional-insert' in the minibuffer (alt-x to open the minibuffer).

I have to say, though, that all this is much easier if you use one of
the supplied themes (or maybe modify one to your specific needs).
Several of the themes automatically fill in the short author name in the
footline, and some (e.g. Madrid) put the frame numbers in. When I use a
theme that doesn't do frame numbers, I create a "short title" by
executing optional-insert at the start of the title line, then put
\theframenumber in ERT in the short title. (I think there's an
analogous command, maybe \thetotalframenumber, to get the total number
of frames, but I won't swear to it.)

Thanks again, Paul. Perhaps, I am too choosy, but I do not like all
beamer themes that I know, the Madrid one included -- I find them too
sophisticated; I prefer a very simple, almost empty theme, like the
example that I sent.

That is great! Thanks, Paul.

If am not abusing, how to add to the foot line the name of the
presentation's author?

Is this what you want? (The change is in the preamble.) Note that this
is not necessarily how I would do it using one of the prefab themes.

Thanks in advance,

is not necessarily how I would do it using one of the prefab themes.
