Hi Paul,

It happens in every document.

I did that you said. I executed "lyx.exe -dbg any", opened a new document,
typed a letter m, selected it and copied it. Look at the results attached and
on this snapshot http://screencast.com/t/yTT8amgh.

  Máté,

Does this happen in every document, or at least in new documents, or
  only in one particular document?

You could try running lyx from a command shell with the option -debug
any. That will spew all sorts of messages in to the command window, all
but the last of which can be ignored. The question is whether you get
any informative messages right before the crash.

What you posted elsewhere about uninstalling looked to have been
thorough enough. If there is a conflict with another program, though,
reinstalling LyX likely will not fix it. :-( Booting into safe mode
was a good idea, but even in safe mode you may have things running in
the background that could be problematic. You might try safe mode again
and, before starting LyX, check for background processes (with Task
Manager or Process Explorer), and kill any that you don't absolutely need.

I understand you related to Windows - Linux. But now I have to solve it on
Windows.

I used the own uninstall process of LyX. and I checked that all LyX related
folders disappeared from C:\Program Files and C:\Documents and
Settings\salat\Application Data. Can I make it more effective?

Thanks your help. At the latest my next windows reinstall should fix the
problem. But I hope it sooner.

Well, I don't do Windows (and your experience is part of the reason
why). But you should probably make sure that everything is being
removed. I'm guessing that some stuff isn't being removed, and so you're
not really getting a full reinstall.

I did what you said, but starting LyX from cmd has the same result when I start
it by a shortcut.

I removed all LyX versions and put back the
LyX-16rc2-4-08-AltInstaller-Small.exe, but it hasn't helped.

Do you have any further idea I can try with 1.6?

Figure out where LyX 1.6 is. Somewhere like: c:\program
  files\lyx\lyx.exe, but I don;t know for sure.

Start>Run Command. Enter "cmd.exe" (I think). Then you get a terminal.
Then type c:\program files\lyx\lyx.exe, or whatever it is.

Try running LyX from a terminal. You ought to get a lot more
information, if it is indeed LyX that is causing the problem.

I assume you've tried uninstalling and reinstalling? If so, you may need
to revert to 1.5 for a while. You can use the lyx2lyx program, which can
be run from outside LyX, to convert your files into a format that 1.5
can read. Since I don't know your platform, I don't know where the
program is located, but on my system, I'd need to open a terminal and do
  this:
  python /usr/local/share/lyx/lyx2lyx/lyx2lyx -t 276 myfile.lyx >
  myfile.15.lyx
