MiKTeX, the LaTeX-engine, tries then to install them from the internet, which could last some time and requires an ope internet connection. When this is not the case, you could alternatively try to reinstall LyX using the this installer: http://wiki.lyx.org/Windows/LyXWinInstaller (Open an internet connection before installing) regards Uwe
I am having a problem with LyX v1.5.4
Hello Mr. Johnson, I hope you will forgive the intrusion. I am having a problem with LyX v1.5.4 (Feb 24, 2008), and I have tried sending emails to the "support" email (lyx-users@lists.lyx.org) with no response. If you would please direct me to the correct source for help with my problem (see below), I will be most grateful. Problem: When I try to use any of the view or export features (e.g., pdflatex, ps2pdf, etc.), the software seems to get in a loop utilizing about 50% CPU. My system is a 2.6Ghz Intel duo processor Windows XP with all update service packs. I used the Standard Web Installer: <ftp://ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/bin/1.5.4/LyX-1.5.4-1-Installer.exe> LyX-1.5.4-1-Installer.exe (10 MB). This installer will setup a complete LyX environment, required components will be downloaded automatically...from http://wiki.lyx.org/Windows/Windows. Everything seems to have installed ok, and I have created a book using LyX. Kindest regards, Peter M. 'Mike' Sanchez <><>

tanja salesch wrote: i would be satisfied if i could label pages, so that i could refer to a page number.. . All pages are labeled internally. So you can refer to any of them. To reference a page, set a label to the part of text that should be referenced. Now insert a reference. In the reference dialog, you can choose the format, e.g "page" if you only want the page number. or is there possibility to "rename" index Here a german explanation, how to do this: (taken from the document LyXMathbefehle, which can be downloaded from http://wiki.lyx.org/pmwiki.php/LyX/LyXMathebefehle ) - Damit der Index den Namen "Stichwortverzeichnis" erhält, wurde im LaTeX-Vorspann \usepackage[ngerman]{babel} \addto\captionsngerman {\renewcommand{\indexname} {Stichwortverzeichnis}} eingefügt. - and put it in your "table of contents.."? If you use a koma-script class, use the option "idxtotoc" (insert this option in the menu Layout -> Document -> Format -> Options) Otherwise use the LaTeX-package "tocbibind" or the command \addcontentsline in the preamble of your document. E.g. write \addcontentsline{toc}{section}{\protect\numberline{}Indexname} regards Uwe
