I'm also using LaTex and things like 'dvips', 'ghostview' work perfectly well. I can also see the ps preview in LyX. I'll download xfig-3.2.3d and transfig-3.2.3d from www.xfig.org and try again. > Look at www.lyx.org for new versions. Ok. Thank you. Matias

Is this bleeding edge? The UI is completely different and more easy to tune. The export function towards various formats is more powerful. The inset functions have been deeply improved, but as a side effect bugs wormed inside the table insets. So as Jean-marc says, it is worth to upgrade unless your documents have a lot of tables. You may download the last fix2 (see the lyx home page) and have a look at the Changelog. Anyway, you may do what I did here: install 1.1.6 under its name (configure allows it) and run the 1.1.5fix2 as lyx and 1.1.6fix2 as lyx-1.1.6 -- Jean-Pierre >> >> >>> Have you got transfig installed as well as xfig, with the same realease >>> number ? Where can I get updated xfig and transfig rpm packages? Thank you, Matias.

What is your version of fig2dev? What happens if you try to run it from the command line (e.g. fig2dev -L eps myfile.fig > myfile.eps)? Is postscript generally working on your system? (e.g., can you see the postscript preview in LyX?) Look at www.lyx.org for new versions. -- Stefano Ghirlanda, Zoologiska Institutionen, Stockholms Universitet email: you know it already, tel: +46-8-164055, fax:+46-8-167715 the free science campaign: http://ethology.zool.su.se/freescience

Is there any newer stable version? Matias.

lyx & xfig
Hello, I´d like to update my old lyx. Could you please suggest any stable rpm for redhat 6.2, kernel 2.2.18, Xfree86-3.3.6? I´ve used xfig for a while. A few days ago I installed a newer version and I couldnt export eps files any longer. I can still use dev2ps and related tools, but miss that export option. Thank you, Matias.

Re: A problem: LyX-XFig
*I would like to: *- keep my images in different directories than the text (as in *the first example), I have found two non satisfactory solutions : either - create a symbolic link to the pstex and pstex_t in your /texts/ dir or - change the paths in the _t file ie: change \includegraphics{core_audit.pstex}% into \includegraphics{../graphs/core_audit.pstex}% *- center the XFig pictures that I succed importing (as in second example), input \center in latex mode right before, in a figure float, for instance. This should work for your 3rd question as well (only one file). Included example 4. example4.tar.gz
A problem: LyX-XFig
Preamble: I am a LyX novice. I am writing a PhD thesis with LyX, first of all I thank you very much for LyX: it is really wonderful. I attach a file with three examples explaining my problems. First example: I tried to import a XFig picture not in the same directory as the lyx document. LaTeX complains. Second example: I moved the XFig picture in the same directory and tried again to import it (with input). Everything works except that the picture is not centered. Third example: if the XFig picture are not coupled with imported eps in the same document, LaTeX complains. I would like to: - keep my images in different directories than the text (as in the first example), - center the XFig pictures that I succed importing (as in second example), - have a document with only one XFig picture (as in third example). I read the manuals, but I did not find any solution. My config is the following: Linux Mandrake 7.1 on a i386, LyX 1.1.5fix1. I thank you once again.
