The original that Josh is replying to here , just like Steve's original
earlier, is not even in my spam folder. Filtering or diverting or holding
is happening in places we have no control over.

My personal experience over the past 18 years of using Google mail systems is
that it's completely untrainable and learns absolutely nothing from end user
flagging. Whatever signals it's mis-training on are massively outweighing end
user input.

Because of the volume and type of messages it may be that some of them are
getting flagged as spam/bulk mail by Google. (or any other provider).
Sometimes even tho they don't show up in the spam folder, they could be delayed
by Google (or other mail host) blocking the first attempt to send the message,
but letting subsequent requests thru (because spammers rarely retry sending).

It's annoying... but, if anyone has any list messages that end up in their
spam folders it's super important you flag it as not spam to train Google that
it's not junk. 

This has been a sporadic issue for me that seems to be getting worse.
Previously the missing messages were primarily from Yahoo addresses and getting
incorrectly marked as spam for what appeared to be SPF reasons. This is a
Google header parsing/spam routing bug (even if you have rules to deliver these
messages anyway!) and I still have to go retrieve those periodically although
less often lately.

Currently some replies are being delivered hours or days before the originating
message. Sometimes the originating message is not delivered at all. I'd have
to see John's MTA logs to know why but as someone whose professional
responsibilities include deliverability of messages with rewritten headers I've
seen comparable problems when the receiving MTA is greylisting delivery
attempts due to bad heuristics.

Both you and I are using Google mail infrastructure so that might be the
commonality to start pointing fingers.

Google has been very cranky lately if the email origin does not have the SPF
record set or the email is not singed. I was getting random bounces to gmail
accounts for a few months now which got obnoxious a few weeks ago. Setting the
SPF record on my email server config seems to have taken care of the problem
for now. I'm not sure what settings the mailing list server is using. I know
there is a way to tell from the header but forget how after figuring it out a
few weeks ago 

This very message is like that for me.
I just got Josh's reply but still have not seen Steve's original, and it's
not in the spam folder either.

Mail from the mailing list really seems to be out of sync these days.
I'm seeing replies to emails that I have never seen the original post for.
Strange.
Anyone else having an issue?

Re: [M100] Disk Power

2022-04-26 Thread Brian K. White

Thank you for the manual!

But these files are not enough to install the software.

The cassette files are ok but to install you need the entire original
disk not just the files from it.

Do you still have the original disk and a tpdd drive?

If so, I can walk you through using pdd.sh to image the disk if you
wouldn't mind trying it.
Even if you don't have a mac or linux machine, I could give you exact
directions to use a bootable thumb drive if it came to that.

Regardless, the manual alone is great to see. Thank you much.

Does anyone have a copy of Disk Power or Disk Power II for any platform?

I have been slowly trying to assemble info about all known TPDD clients.
http://tandy.wiki/TPDD_client

And Disk Power is one that is mentioned several times throughout the
M100SIG, but there are no copies anywhere because of the way the
distribution disk was made to prevent copying.

Last year I got a copy for KC-85 with a machine, and developed a tpdd
utility to the point where I was able to image and reproduce the
original disk, as well as the installer from the cassette, and it's
reproducible now:
http://tandy.wiki/TPDD_client:Disk_Power

Now I'd like to do that for the other platforms. But the only way
possible is for someone to have an original disk and cassette (needs
both). Then I can either show someone how to do it, or if they are
willing to mail it to me I'll do it and mail it back. Or buy their copy
from them.
