Re: [M100] REX replaces internal RAM?
Rex = no ram. just backups of whatever is in ram to a nvram storage I have ram chips in stock.. so you can expand to 32k.. the QUAD used to be available that replaced internal ram but it's no longer being made Greg On Sun, Apr 21, 2019 at 6:25 PM Anthony Coghlan wrote: > Chris, to John’s point also, if you were to get a REX but with only 8K RAM > in your M100, the REX would in effect be quite underutilized. Chris, to John’s point also, if you were to get a REX but with only 8K RAM in your M100, the REX would in effect be quite underutilized. REX is an excellent way of backing up RAM into selectable banks - like having multiple computers in one. However, if you only have 8K RAM, each REX bank will likewise only back up 8K of content. To truly get the most out of REX, you may want to invest in more RAM first. I think you’d still be able to have multiple option ROMs on your REX, and each of those could take up a full 32K REX bank, but your maximum data memory while using one of those option ROM programs would still only be 8K. Best wishes, Anthony On Sunday, April 21, 2019, Chris Fezzler wrote: > Does a REX completely replace/supplant the internal ram? > > If I have an old Model T with 8k and insert a REX does the computer run > completely via REX? > > Are there Rex boards available? >

Thanks John - That's what I was getting at but did not articulate it clearly. On Sunday, April 21, 2019, 7:55:40 PM EDT, John R. Re: [M100] REX replaces internal RAM?
I got a REX last week from Arcadeshopper. It came really quick too with excellent service. Now I just gotta get used to the "REXmgr"! Now my old NADsbox will get a real workout. Cheers Dave S. Re: [M100] REX replaces internal RAM?
I think Arcadeshopper has both the RTEX and 8K RAM modules available. https://www.arcadeshopper.com/wp/?page_id=11#!/100-102-200/c/28313042/offset=0 <https://www.arcadeshopper.com/wp/?page_id=11#!/100-102-200/c/28313042/offset=0&sort=nameAsc> &sort=nameAsc . It is my understanding that the REX copies all 32K or RAM to flash and back, i.e. backs up to RAM and restores it when you switch banks. Jeff_Birt (Hey Birt!) Does a REX completely replace/supplant the internal ram? If I have an old Model T with 8k and insert a REX does the computer run completely via REX? Are there Rex boards available?
