William, Can't answer your specific question re that daisy app, as I never used
it. But a lot of apps you can just hit the button near the lower right corner
of your IPad to make them bigger and use more of your screen.

hi all my ipad battery is going down drastically not really impressed
given it is supposed to be from apple, and a large humungus battery yet without
hardly suing it i have lost 20 percent over the last eight hours. i have only
heard a small podcast done a bit of browsing, and read a bit of an ibook. my
bluetooth is off, my wifi is on, my brightness is auto at 20 percent, is this
normal?
if so i may be better with an ipad 2

Re: hq voices on ipad

2012-05-16 Thread Thuy
Hi Will. You need to switch off the 'use compact voice' option in
settings/general/accessibility/voiceover. You might also want to
include the languages you want to switch between in the language rota,
and set your region to british English. Also you need to be connected
to wifi and leave it set to the language of choice for some time in
order for the high quality voices to be downloaded to the ipad. It
might take a while but switching the 'use compact voice' off should
force the high quality voice to be downloaded. Hope this helps?

Cheers
Thuy

No in iTunes on the mac you go to the apps thing in your devices section then
go to the sharing section in the scroll area, then click add then find your
book.

Good luck.

Re: spell check gone in ios?

2012-05-16 Thread Geoff Waaler
Yeah, things have indeed changed, but it appears that its still possible to
avoid the pinch gesture.

When I enter a word that is announced as misspelled, I can flick up once
in word mode or twice in character mode to focus on the offending word. It
then may be selected individually via the edit menu, which in turn exposes
the replace option.

Hmm you used to be able just to swipe down to a character and go to edit,
then replace. I'm surprised you have to now pinch as I don't want to do
that as I have issues with my fingers and hands.

Hi Sarah,

I just tested the misspelled words: a n m a l and k u n t r y on my

select edit and flick down. Double tapping results in a list of

appears to be one choice.

Hello to all. I noticed for a while now that I cannot spell check. I
have spelling on, but when I hear misspelled I cannot go to the edit
menu and hit replace. It just is not there, the replace option that is.
Did it disappear compleatly or is there something i need to do to get
it back.

thanks all.

 Hi Sarah,

 I just tested the misspelled words: a n m a l and k u n t r y on my 4S
running IOS 5.1.1. After selecting the offending word via the open pinch
gesture, I am seeing a replace option when I use the rotor to select
edit and flick down. Double tapping results in a list of possible
corrections. Actually in the above two examples there only appears to be
 one choice.

 HTH.
 Geoff

Subject: spell check gone in ios?

Hello to all. I noticed for a while now that I cannot spell check. I have
spelling on, but when I hear misspelled I cannot go to the edit menu and
hit replace. It just is not there, the replace option that is. Did it
disappear compleatly or is there something i need to do to get it back.

 thanks all.

To reply to

linking to a local volume via ftp and putting it on a site

2012-05-16 Thread Sarah Alawami
Ok I dunno where this falls but I want to have someone access some of my stuff
via a website but at the same time it is on a external volume. I know how to
create sim links but I can't paste them in to the sites folder as they dead
link. so is there a way to do this with out too much fuss? for example If I
wanted them to access ,/Volumes/music/4music/bil board/bilboard hot/1961
/Volumes/music/4music/bil board/bilboard hot/1962
/Volumes/music/4music/bil board/bilboard hot/1963
/Volumes/music/4music/bil board/bilboard hot/1964
/Volumes/music/4music/bil board/bilboard hot/1965 via an ftp link not an ftp
program but a link on a website how would I do this? I know my question is kind
of odd but there ya go. I also don't know what list this is to go on so sorry
if this is the wrong one.

Thanks.
