Does anyone have any suggestions on an alternative text editor on osx? I'm
looking for one more aimed at programming.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Re: Facial Recognition software

2012-12-29 Thread Josh Gregory
On a somewhat similar topic, is there any of that stuff For the Mac? I
remember hearing about a title that did this at the Apple store, but I don't
remember the name of it. To answer the question with VoiceOver, I'm not sure
how well that would work, seeing as facial recognition as a visual process.

You could do that, but will apple have DVDS for sl since it is an older OS? I'm
just wondering as apple has to stop supporting sl at some point. lol!

Facial Recognition software

2012-12-29 Thread Glenn
Hi All,
Has anyone tried any facial recognition software on the IOS devices, such as
Facial Recognition +?
And how do some of them work with VoiceOver?
Does Apple make any of that, other than the camera's ability to identify a

How are you? I use the native Facebook application on my IOS devices. I
find it works quite well except that you now don't seem to be able to tag
people in posts. You can create a FB account from the app itself, I used
the web site to create mine though, so don't know how accessible the app is
for creating accounts. In terms of twitter, I use Tweetlist on my IOS
devices, and Night Owl on my mac computers. In tweetlist, you can do
 extended tweets.

 I hope this helps.

Can somebody tell me please what's the best way of creating a FaceBook
account? I know it's now synchronised with the operating system like
 Twitter
is, so I wonder what has to be done. Also, what utilities if any do people
use for FaceBook? We are still using Syrix for Twitter, we find it the

message length restriction. Can anybody give me a reason why we should
switch and, if so, to what?

I think it goes based on likes or something as I see things jump around like

Re: voice over voices for the iPhone 5

2012-12-29 Thread cait furness
Yes, I have my i phone set with Ireland as the region so the irish voice is the
default. It comes up with 24 hour time as the default time, but it knows I'm
in Canada and everything seems normal otherwise. The weather app seems to
function normally. Just as a side note, however, I do prefer to use another
app for weather usually, though since I like it better, called degrees.

Hi,

I have the native fb app but for some reason it is not showing all of my feed.
I have it sorted newest first, but everything is in such a strange order. Any
idea why this is?

Re: a wonderful app, and a question

2012-12-29 Thread Christopher Gilland
Devin,

I do not have a braille display, however, there are some books which are on Web
Braille that has been incorporated into the NLS Bard web site which I
definitely do want to read. They're not in audio format as of yet though.

I just wonder if Louis would help me take the contracted grade 2 braille and
uncontract it back to standard txt format, where I could then read it in Text
Edit or the like.

I'll have to install it and play around with it and see, I guess.

Chris.

Re: iTunes 11 question.

2012-12-29 Thread Danny Noonan
Well, turns out as far as I can research that there is no way to stop files
played in iTunes from being added to the library so feather research shows that
either QuickTime or VLC still work with the apple remote so I'll set my default
media player to use either of them for media types I use and don't want
directly added to iTunes.

Hi,

Thanks for your help with this. I had a measure of success but think
