authorizing a mac to download from itunes

2013-08-10 Thread don bishop

Hi all,

I just purchased an imac after running windows for about 20 years.
Still getting familiar with the keyboard and terminology.
I can see my purchases okay, but cannot download to the mac as I get the
message that the machine is not authorized. I've done this when running
windows, but how do I do it on the mac?

Still trying to get familiar with all the vo commands.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Don

2013-08-10 Thread Zachary Kline
Hi DOn,
Try going into the Store menu in iTunes, with vo-m, and you should find an
option in there to authorize your mac. I haven’t done this in ages so could be
mistaken.
Hope it helps,
Zack.

1. launch iTunes.

2. go to store menu and go to authorize. You will then log i with your apple id
and pas word.

Good luck.

Hi Candie,

I had actually tried all those suggestions and you're absolutely spot on they
do usually work. However in this instance it was something to do with an
HTMl-based log on window for a hotel WIFI network. Once I logged on and closed
the resulting home page, it resolved itself.

not delete. Maybe there is a special gesture to do this?

Currently my work-around is to go back to the list of articles, locate
the article in the list, then swipe down until I find Delete, and
double tap. It would surely be great If I could delete after reading
the article, and not have to go back and find it again in the list to
 do so.

Adding extra rows in Numbers

2013-08-10 Thread Andy Collins
Hi all -

How do I do this? It seems that by default, new spreadsheets only go down by 30
rows, and I can't find in the menus anyway to extend the sheet. I know from
within the context menu it is possible to add a row above or below, but I want
to select the cell that has the result of a formula, and move it lower down the
sheet, as I need extra rows going in for additional calculations.

Thanks -

Re: Adding extra rows in Numbers

2013-08-10 Thread Andy Collins
Carol - this isn't working just now. Firstly, if that is the only way, then it
appears that only one line can be added at a time, instead of being able to
select a line and move it down to wherever. Secondly, I have a spreadsheet
where I have already inserted a line, and now when I try to do this in a
different row, it keeps inserting the new blank line in the original place, and
not where I want it. So, I've no spare or empty lines above the formula, that's
why I need to know how to move it down or to insert more lines -

How do I do this? It seems that by default, new spreadsheets only go down by
30 rows, and I can't find in the menus anyway to extend the sheet. I know
from within the context menu it is possible to add a row above or below, but
I want to select the cell that has the result of a formula, and move it
lower down the sheet, as I need extra rows going in for additional
 calculations.

Hi all -

Sorted this now. All I needed to do was hit the enter key as many times as I

Your keys will be your 7, 8 and 9, then u, i o, and j, k l, for 7, 8 and 9, 4,
5, and 6, and 1, 2, and 3. this is the right hand side of your key board.

good luck.

Re: Using Mouse keys on the Mac?

2013-08-10 Thread Lewis Crack
Hi Gary,

I have never used mouse keys on the Mac either, so tend to use a USB
Keyboard for mouse buttons.
I use my TrackPad, as I have one, but have never worked out how to use
a mouse on the Mac.
I suggest your best option for now is to use your Desktop keyboard
with it for mouse keys, or buy another keyboard that has a num pad.
sorry I can't be of more help.
Cheers!
Lewis.

 how would I do it?

Re: Voice over settings question

2013-08-10 Thread Lewis Crack
Hi Trev,

Go to VoiceOver Utility with VO + F8, or FN + VO + F8 if you have not
set the F keys to normal keys under Keyboard settings.
Then navigate to the table with VO + Right Arrow, and arrow down to Speech.
Then, VO + Right Arrow to the Hints Tab, and press VO + Space on it.
Finally, VO + Right Arrow until you hear Speak Hints, and press VO +
Space to uncheck the box, then close the window with Command + W.
That should fix it!
Cheers!
Lewis.

Re: SiriusXM app?

2013-08-10 Thread Geoff Waaler
Hi Orin and list,

As a channel is playing, there are two buttons just below the status bar on the
right edge. The right most button located just below the battery indicator
acts as a toggle between normal and MySXM mode, or if the playing channel was
not previously customized, one can use that button to specify options.

Whether a channel has been customized or not, one can set options by using the
button just to the left of the live/MYSXM toggle labeled Action header
myEnable. From there, select customize. The resulting window presents
several options, such as:

Popularity adjustable 50 percent more popular Depth. An adjustment to 20
percent would result in substantially fewer hit songs in the rotation.

All changes need to be committed by selecting apply which is located near the
top of the window where the fast forward button normally would be had the
customization not been active.

After MYSXM options have been specified, one has a choice between starting in
normal or MYSXM mode, by either tapping on what's currently playing, or a
button just to the right which I labeled enable MySXM.

Hope this makes sense after you've taken a look. If not, let me know and I'll
try and clarify a little better.

Best regards.
Geoff

Re: closing tabs

2013-08-10 Thread Zachary Kline
Hi Don,
The iTUnes interface on the mac doesn’t have a habit of opening up tabs or
separate windows. What’s most likely happening is that you’re in theStore
portion of the program and want to get back to the library. It’s worth getting
into the habit of exploring the screen with the VoiceOver cursor, you’ll find
out a lot about program layouts this way. iTunes has a button to return you to
the library most of the time.
Did you go through the initial VoiceOver tutorial? You might need to stop
interacting with the Store HTML first to find that button.
Best,
Zack.

 iphone.
Also, how do you completely close an application?
I'm sure these are simple questions, but it's sure not obvious to me anyway.

 Many thanks,

 Don

Oh oops/ They went from iTunes, to what I read as ios to the iPhone questions,
so I was a bit confused. The way I get out of the store is just to go to the
sources table and go for example the books part of sources. I did read the
question but I was so confused the way it was written I mis read it. lol! To
close an app is cmd q. I actually read that as ios not osx.

Tc and be blessed.

Hi Sarah,
This is a Mac-related question, not an iPhone one. Please try to read more
carefully before answering, it can cause a lot of confusion.
All the best,
