Yes. I omitted to say go to the Apple website, because it is my default Safari
webpage, but I still thought from the subject we were talking about, and the
mention of all things Apple, It would have been pretty obious. My mistake to

Re: Can't open the iTunes store from my iPhone 5

2013-10-02 Thread Sarah k Alawami
Don't think that would work if the iTunes app is crashing on some people trying
to launch it fem siri would not work as it would probably just crash. What I
would do is try restoring your phone to new, keeping a back up so you can later
restore to that, then try launching the iTunes store from the app icon. If that
does not work, then we have bigger problems. I'd try calling apple and
reporting this, or taking it down to the apple store so they can take a look.

Good luck.

Emergency Leave

2013-10-02 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland
Though all is physically ok, don't worry, I do need to be basically out of
e-mail commition for a few days, possibly upwards of a week. I'm not quite
ready yet to set things up, but later this evening, I'll need to switch my
subscription to No Mail. I'd write the support e-mail for this list, but
this is somewhat of an urgent matter to get taken care of, and being Gordon
and Lynn's timezone differences, I want to be sure that I have the info in
time. Otherwise it could be disastrous as I'll have mail piling up left and
right.

Can someone tell me what I gotta do to go to No Mail and then what to do to
come back when I'm feeling better? Basically, I gotta have surgery
tomorrow. We'll just leave it at that.

Chris.

2013-10-02 Thread Phil Halton
I have no agenda here, I just want complete information. It occurs to me after
reading this thread that a lack of precision and attention to details make us
ineffective communicators, and so, less helpful on this list than we might
otherwise be. A little thought as to what we are trying to say before firing
off the message can make a big difference on how it is received. We're all
blind here. We have to play guessing games all day long in the world at large.
Why bring that same degree of confusion here, where we all come to get a little
help?

Photo isn't appearing?

2013-10-02 Thread Jim Portillo
Hi there,

I have a question about my Contacts and photos.

Up until recently, my contact information had everything about me.name, home
and work phones, home work and other emails, home address, and other stuff.
It also had my photo that is the profile picture on my facebook page.
Although I don't have Facebook having access to my contacts, I have allowed
Facebook to update my current contacts with whatever pictures are on my
contacts facebook pages.

Today, I noticed that some of my contact information had gotten screwed up.
For instance, instead of showing my cell phone number as an IPhone number,
it showed as "Other." Also, my photo was no longer part of my profile.

I went to the settings area and tried updating that part of Facebook. It
didn't add my photo the way it used to do so.

Then, I went ahead and allowed Facebook to link up with my existing contacts
and add whatever other information it links. Then, it had my photo. When I
limited Facebook contact access again, the photo was gone. That hadn't ever
happened before.

Also, when I checked other friends and contacts, their photos were on their
profiles on my phone.

Any idea what's going on and what I need to do?

Thanks,

Jim

e-mail commition for a few days, possibly upwards of a week. I'm not
quite ready yet to set things up, but later this evening, I'll need to
switch my subscription to No Mail. I'd write the support e-mail for this
list, but this is somewhat of an urgent matter to get taken care of, and
being Gordon and Lynn's timezone differences, I want to be sure that I
have the info in time. Otherwise it could be disastrous as I'll have mail
piling up left and right.

Can someone tell me what I gotta do to go to No Mail and then what to do
to come back when I'm feeling better? Basically, I gotta have surgery
tomorrow. We'll just leave it at that.

Using Pac Mate Braille Display with mac.

2013-10-02 Thread Linda C Knight

Hi all,

Last night, I plugged in my Pac Mate Braille unit to my iMac.

I was so pleased it showed up instantly.

Could any of you make suggestions on the different settings for the braille
display for the mac?

How can one use the advance keys when moving from line to line or do we use the
mac keyboard with advanceing through documents or the internet.

Thanks for any tips any of you can provide.

Re: Using Pac Mate Braille Display with mac.

2013-10-02 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Linda,

When your PAC Mate is connected to your Mac, open the VoiceOver utility (VO-F8)
and go down to the Braille category.

I think you have to click on Add command to see the table of preprogrammed
commands for your display.

If you don't like any of the key combinations already there, you can change
them to suit yourself.

Cheers,

Anne

Hello everybody

An incident has arisen whereby a group member has had cause to complain
regarding the content off another member’s response to his post. There was a

Please be aware that this kind of personals sniping is not tolerated in this

repeated, we will take the necessary action. Please don’t make us do that, it
would be irksome for us and frustrating for the person involved.

WordPress.com is definitely the way to go. You don't download anything and you
don't have to set up your own server. There's a document called "learn
WordPress "or something like that on the support.WordPress.com site read that
it'll help.

2013-10-02 Thread Sarah k Alawami
Actually I would not do wordpress.com I had to set up something with someone
and I couldn't. You cannot upload files larger then I think it's 10 meg, you
have to pay for storage. It's a lot cheaper on my opinion to go self hosted and
host a wordpress site that you instllinstall yourself on your web provider.
Many of my podcasts are over 10 mb in size, sometimes being 500 mb but that's
rare.

My phone no longer recognizes me?

2013-10-02 Thread Jim Portillo
Hi there,

I'm hoping someone might have a good answer for me.

If you recall, I emailed mentioning that there had been a change regarding
my own personal contact information in my contacts list on my IPhone.

Well, when I was using Siri, I noticed it no longer called me by name and
didn't seem to know who I was. Also, I noticed that when I'd look in my
contacts list, before actually going through the list, it would say
something like "My number" and then say my number. This time, it no longer
presents my number.

Did I somehow unregister my phone or do something with the information my
phone had about me? How do I recover it?

Do I have to do something via Itunes, or go somewhere in the settings?

Any help would be appreciated, please. Thank you.

Jim
