Re: [Mac-Access]: enough!
Well said. Even when the list was active I personally did not find it very helpful at all. But this is getting fucking ridiculous. I have tried everything and I can't seem to unsubscribe. Receiving. Multiple. Emails. Is no fun at all! Frankly you should be ashamed of yourself Mr Gordon. Blatantly spamming people's email addresses with this nonsense. Not respecting or listening to people's requests to be removed from this stupid list. Messages bouncing when I ask to be removed. A horrendous web interface. To be honest there are far better alternatives available to Mac-access. For the last time please remove me from this sorry excuse for a list. Re: [Mac-Access]: enough!
These people wanting to leave the list might feel differently if they knew what I went through the eyes-free list with with GoogleGroups. For those who don't know, the eyes-free list is for Android users. It gets at least 200 messages a day, and it is unmoderated. My ISP had just switched to using the gMail server when I subscribed, so my eMail went in as my user name at gMail.com. Then I tried to unsubscribe and the unsubscribe commands did not recognize me because my eMails going to the list showed up as from my ISP, @cableone.net When I complained to the list, someone there was able to set me up so I could not post to the list, but I was still getting the messages. For a couple years, I just filtered them to my trash. Then my ISP came back with providing their own eMail server, and I was put into IMAP, and my filters no longer worked. Their web interface was AJAX, rather than standard HTML, by default, which made it unusable by a Blind user. So after all that, I feel like the folks complaining here have little to complain about. To use styles you need to do that through the formatter. People keep asking me to do either a written or audio guide on how to use pages. I'm thinking of doing both, but it will take time. To access the templets after you create a new document is not possible. but you can save your new document as a templet if you customized it. Do this through file then templets. Take cre. Just a couple of points. 1. I tried the suggestion made by Ms Ann no dice. 2. As another list member has pointed out a simple email informing people that they are back online would have sufficed. Please don't make excuses for Gordon's incompetence. Simply harvesting everyone's email address and receiving multiple copies of every email that is sent to the server clattering up once inbox is absolutely unacceptable! I have tried numerous things including trying to contact these administrators via Skype. They either don't want to take my call or they keep going off line. Re: [Mac-Access]: enough!
In the interest of continuity, if the list owner cannot run the list, it probably needs to be migrated to a general email list service provider where service is relatively free of uptime issues such as we have experienced and transferred to another list administrator who has the time to dedicate to it. I cannot comment on any other services being hosted by the owner. This list has many dedicated contributors and it would be a shame to lose it simply because of the inability to configure a personal server. These services are basically available similar to home appliances these days. There is not an awful lot of configuration necessary to simply administer an email list in 2015. It's quite uncomplicated. With Google Groups, Yahoo, and many other services such as publicly available Mailman and other list managers, there is no need to go through painful singular configuration to make an email list quite functional and responsive without constant user surveys related to whether migration is desired, etc. Maybe some of the frustration is related to the apparent lack of automation of the user-based administration of list subscription and configuration options that are quite expected on most email lists. Spectacular server crashes are a thing of the past of the proper backup procedures are in place. I used to administer a list of approximately 700 subscribers with about four hours per week of dedication. That certainly can vary and I'm not necessarily trying to draw a direct comparison. I hate to post this directly to the list since I know it's not proper etiquette but I'm frankly tired of getting the long-winded depositions about the status of something that really shouldn't be a problem or the cryptic meanderings about anticipated/unanticipated issues with services unrelated to this list that I don't care about. Services related to the list should probably be separate from any web hosting ventures if the reliability is going to be so suspect. This should not be quite as complicated as it seems to be. Backup the user database on a schedule and change providers accordingly, if necessary., and hopefully very infrequently I know what it's like to run into issues with administering a list. At this point, it seems to be a little unreasonable. It should be an extremely rare occasion when you can't get an immediate backup of the list subscribers but must continuously poll the list for who is subscribed and who wishes to remain. My suggestion is to shoot for some continuity for a while using whatever mechanism will accomplish it and restore the faith of the subscribers. Things have become a little strange here. Right now, when I visit mac-access.net http://mac-access.net/, I am confronted with a raw incarnation of SurgeMail. Jack of all trades is master of none and I'll stay subscribed unless I anger the owner and he actually takes the initiative to manually unsubscribe me. Nevertheless, I'm sick of the duplicate messages, general unreliability, and misadministration of this list. I understand that there may be legitimate reasons why there have been problems but we're all still here. If it's not working and is not going to work, let someone handle it who can do so. Web hosting and other services are unrelated and should not be addressed here unless the subject applies to most subscribers. I have tremendous respect for those who cull through the countless spam and other administrivia required to manage a healthy email list. Right now, this one does not appear to be healthy. Thanks for your help. How do you get to the formatter? People keep asking me to do either a written or audio guide on how to use pages. I'm thinking of doing both, but it will take time. To access the templets after you create a new document is not possible. but you can save your new document as a templet if you customized it. Do this through file then templets. Take cre. Re: [Mac-Access]: creating a folder in mail
1. Launch mail. 2. go to the end of the mail window where it says new mail box 3. vo space on that and choose new mail box 4. Decide if you want the mail box to be in the main part of your mac or in your account's side by choosing that in the drop down combo box that appears. 5. vo right to the name field and 6. type in the name of the mail box 7. Hit ok. good luck. On May 25, 2015, at 8:08 PM, Margaret Booth margaretebo...@gmail.com wrote: Can someone please tell me how I can create a folder in Mail on my Mac book pro. Margaret

I think cmd option I shows and hides the inspector. you can change to the formater part in the tool bar by checking the fomater radio button. I'm normally a longer email sender, but it's pretty late here. so hope this helps for now. Take care. On May 25, 2015, at 6:44 PM, Margaret Booth margaretebo...@gmail.com wrote: Thanks for your help. [Mac-Access]: creating a folder in mail
Can someone please tell me how I can create a folder in Mail on my Mac book pro. Margaret
[Mac-Access]: Pages, selecting text across page boundaries
Hello everyone, Here is the fix for this problem. Open a TextEdit document and paste in the following without the quotes: { ^y = yankAndSelect:; //control-y ^\@ = setMark:; //control-@ ^w = deleteToMark:; //control-w ^x = { //control-x control-x ^x = selectToMark:; }; ^ = setMark:; //control-space ~f = moveWordForward:; //option-f ~b = moveWordBackward:; //option-b } Save the document as: DefaultKeyBinding.dict You’ll need to change the extension to .dict manually. Go to your user library by going to the Go menu in Finder and using the VO keys to navigate down to Library. Create a folder Called KeyBindings and put the .dict document into it. From now on, you should be able to select text in any text editing application by pressing Ctrl-Space to mark the beginning of the selection, and Ctrl-x-x to mark the end of the selection. Everything in between will be selected, including page breaks. Cheers, Anne
Re: [Mac-Access]: help with pages
hi, one question re pages how do I get voiceover to read track changes and comments - I use pages a lot and for the most part really like it - experienced the same problems as you re selecting text that goes over multiple pages so if Ann could post the solution to that I would love it. But the one thing I can’t seem to get it to do is read comment bubbles or track changes. - actually it does read the changes a bit now as it will read both suggested changes but the comments bubbles I really want it to read Julie Dr Julie Rattray Lecturer in Psychology and Education University of durham School of Education Leazes Road DURHAM DH1 1TA Tel: 0191 33 48249 Email: julie.ratt...@durham.ac.ukmailto:julie.ratt...@durham.ac.uk On 26 May 2015, at 05:47, Sarah k Alawami marri...@gmail.commailto:marri...@gmail.com wrote: I think cmd option I shows and hides the inspector. you can change to the formater part in the tool bar by checking the fomater radio button.
