mavericks mail question

2013-10-23 Thread Cait and Maggie
Hi,
I seem to be notified every time I get a new mail message, which is extremely
annoying especially if I’m already in the mail app.

How do I turn this off?
I thought this might be an issue with notification centre, but I’ve already had
a look in there and mail isn’t included in that lot.

I can’t find anything in mail prefs..
um, help..!

Many thanks!
Caitlyn, with a few more grey hairs

Re: What's the accessibility take on iOS7?

2013-10-03 Thread Cait and Maggie
Hi Lynn,
Personally, I like IOS 7.

some of the gestures took some getting used to, and I still struggle with a few
of them, but that's me and not the OS!

We upgraded both our phones from i phone 4's to the 5C, 32 g model. IOS 7 does
run a bit faster on the new phones, but we didn't play around a lot with the
older phones, either. I am also running the new OS on my i pad 2 and it's a
bit sluggish, but this doesn't make it unusable.

I'm not sure what's available in the UK, but here in Canada, you can definitely
buy a 5S in the 64 g model.

Re: 8 Dot Braille With Apex and the Air

2013-10-01 Thread Cait and Maggie
YOu might look in vo utility under the braille settings while the display is
attached to your mac air.
You can also toggle between 8 and 6 dot mode, at least you can on my braille
sense, on the note taker itself. Not sure where that setting is on the apex,
though, as I don't own one of those.

authentication has no windows

2013-09-10 Thread Cait and Maggie
Hi,
Mark, my husband, is having problems with his mac. He keeps getting the
message "authentication has no windows". when this happens, the entire system
gets locked up and you can't do anything except restart by holding in the
button.

How do we fix this? The computer is unusable right now because of this.

Earlier today, he reinstalled mountain lion on one partition of his HD because
of problems he was having with the calendar app. This is also the partition we
are having trouble with now.

Thanks,
Cait
