Hi David,

One thing to note is that the chime which plays at boot up does not
sound. I will try to get into the recovery and report back as soon as I
can. Thanks again.

Ann,

If you have a cable to connect from your Windows or Mac, simply connect it
to your iPad, or if both computers have Bluetooth capability, pair up the
iPad with the computer from which you will transfer files from. You'll have
to import the files from your CD and then transfer them to the iPad.
Bluetooth should work for this; if, h owever, it doesn't, perhaps somebody
on the list can assist you on how to get the two machines to better
communicate the transferring. HTH.

Yes it is, and they are not paying attention to the dialogue. This happens
only I think on a clean install. I'll have to find out as I plan on doing a
clean install in about 2 weeks just to clean up any crud.

Take care.

i updated my iPad mini 1st generation the other day. and well. i have came
across more glitches and bugs that have actually made the iPad impossible to
use. for example, i am trying to type notes in class, and voice over keeps
turning on and off on and off on and off. there is no scrolling visually,
the screen just sticks in one location, etc. As far as i am concerned, IOS8
is the worst ios implemented. Can i revert to IOS7 now that i have this
brutal system in the iPad?

Yes it is possible but there will be some functions of sam net that
can not be used but I have a mac book mid 2012 and run vm fusion with win 7
pro and have no trouble using samnet but in my opinion if you want to use
sam net on the mac and don't mind running vm then you will have all they
have with no trouble but like I said before install chrome and go to
www.satogo.com and try and if that way does not feel right go the vm way
hope this helps

Ok, so you're saying that you can't use safari with it? So you use google
chrome? And are you also saying that you use it in vm Fusion? Just wanna
make sure I'm understanding you right. Could it be used with google chrome
and voiceover, directly in the mac environment without VM Fusion?

Ok, this is a bit of a wide open request. I am looking for a bluetooth
headset that will work well with the iPhone5 and Voiceover.

The only other requirements I have are, if it is a single ear unit, then it
needs to have something that wil not allow it to drop to the ground if it
comes off of the ear while walking.

I am not afraid of getting more info on specific models, but would like
somewhere to start from.

Thanks.

Andy,
This thread is fascinating because, yesterday I thoght I might try to pair
my Mac to my Jawbone jambox. the mac didn't see it at all. It did see, and I
successfully paired, my Logitech k811 BT keyboard. But when I turned on the
Jambox, even after I turned off Bluetooth on my iPHone 5S which it
successfully paired to, the Mac did not see it, even in the discoverable
menu.
So you're not alone.
If yu figure out a way to pair it can you let us know?

Subject: "Authentication has no window" When Installing an app

Hi all,

When I wanted to install Proxifier (using its .pkg installation package), at
the very end, OSX would ask me for a password. If I tried to navigate in
this window or waited too much, I would hear "Authentication busy". If i
would alt-tab away and back, I would hear "Authentication has no window".

How can I fix this issue with having no window? The only way I found the
last time was to restart my system, as Voiceover didn't recognize other
windows and nothing worked. Even when I left-clicked, Voiceover would say
"Apple menu", but when I would press any of the arrow keys, I would just
hear the voice effect of hitting a boundary.

Thanks.

Subject: Shutting up Voiceover in I O S 7.02

Hello guys.

I have a question that is really starting to puzzle me a bit. I am using an
IPad 4th Gen with a wireless bluetooth keyboard. I am noticing that even
though I certainly can two finger single tap on the screen to silence
Voiceover's speech, I'm finding that pressing the control key on my
bluetooth keyboard isn't working. I was curious first of all if that is
just me, or if others are also having this same problem. Second of all, if
I'm not just having a strange issue, and it really indeed doesn't work that
way, is there a way then that I can silence speech from my keyboard?
Sometimes I have my IPad a good 3 and a half to 4 feet away from my
keyboard, so reaching over to the thing just to hush it up is sometimes more
difficult to do than comfort's sake.

Aside from that though, I'm in heaven with this thing!

Chris.

Ftp is file transfer protocol. This is used to transfer files to let's say a
website Think of an ftp folder like something in your finder. You can add to
and, if the ftp owner lets you, remove stuff. You can upload or copy stuff
from your finder to the ftp folder, like a podcast file, or picture for your
site. there's regular ftp and secure or SFTP. if you mean tffp that's my
podcast, but I'm thinking you meant ftp so there you go. Lol!

Take care.

Andy,

I didn't know about VO Left Arrow but this doesn't seem to work for me
anyway. Strange!

No, it's no real big deal but I do have a number of mail boxes and typing in
iC can take me to any of the iCloud mentions, both account and mailbox.

I am doubtful that I can make a shortcut also but thought I'd ask anyway.

Thanks for your input.

May I just point out that the MacBook Air doe snot have an Ethernet port.
The only kind of network interface is, therefore, WiFi and, if you possess
such a thing as a BlueTooth dongle or modem, you could do it that way.
Otherwise, the USB stick is the only way. Creating a boot image is very easy
but I guess it's only fair to say that the new user might find the process
daunting.

I would be happy to write an article for our blog on this if anybody thinks
it would be of help?

Hi!

I've ordered one of these and I hope to have it by the end of the week so
I'll be able to write a mini review on the product.

The Braven 650 system is supposed to be far better than the Jawbone Jambox
and that product wasn't bad except for its absolutely dreadful hands free
speaker phone feature, the other fact that stopped me using it was its
Bluetooth compatibility, the Jambox isn't - as far as I know - compatible
with Bluetooth 4.0 devices such as the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy etc,
Bluetooth 4.0 provides superior bandwidth to previous Bluetooth versions and
it can be used without problems for dictation, Siri and the like.

Thanks Sarah - I'll try the vo f as an alternative search method. I'm still
struggling with the Internet on the Mac. I'm focussing mostly on the BBC
here in the UK, as that is where I do a lot of my catching up on radio I
missed during the week.

For example, on:

www.bbc.co.uk/4extra

I couldn't find the schedule link very easily, but I was using command f to
search for it. I also used the web rowter to try and find it in links or
headings, but it wasn't there, even though I know such a link exists as I've
used it for years on a Winndows machine.

After some good initial early progress, progress has slowed down a bit in my
Mac learning -

Hello

Today I got my new iPhone 5 but whilst voiceover is working there are no
sound effects. This is particularly difficult when typing in passwords as I
have lost the confirmation click also.

Does anybody know how I can get sound effects back?

I have looked unsuccessfully through Settings and Voiceover settings.

Well, I know my logitech keyboard has the ability to use the f-keys to
switch through devices, which I absolutely adore, although I wish I could
find the manual for it, if anyone can email me one offlist that'd be good,
as I don't have access to safari at the moment.

Hello everybody

Given that we have recently gained quite a few new members as well as losing
a small number of old ones, I thought I'd post a link to this website, just
featured in "MacWorld UK" as one of the top Mac security products. Don't let
anybody kid you that you're 100% safe using your Mac online, because nothing
could be further from the truth. I'm not talking about what are commonly
referred too as "viruses"; but other security threats such as tracking
cookies and other spyware and even malware. Anyway, if this interests you as
a general topic, great. If not, feel free to consign my ramblings to the
trash.
