a friend of mine installed windows with it flawlessly on his macbook with
bootcamp with no issues.incidentally do i need the iso file to be on a
formatted flash drive to run?you can then i believe use your bootcamp partition
in fusion once it's created.

A simple Google search verifies the statement regarding Netflix though it

Re: [Mac-access]: Apple Watch: the definitive review

2015-04-14 Thread william lomas
from reading this i am shocked apple have the nerve to expect people to pay a
starting price of 349 dollars for a product which is rubbish in terms of
performance?and who keeps buying a watch every year?people are not going to
have the money to spend 350 minimM every time a watch comes out, and it has
taken them 3 years?and it seems (and i know is a first-gen model) that it is so
clunky.

[Mac-access]: anyone going to see the apple watch please?

2015-04-04 Thread william lomas
Hi is anyone going to see an apple watch next week?
i would like to pre-order one but wish we could read up on how voiceover works.
all we know is 2 fingers to scroll and a double tap on the watch display and a
raise of the wrist (i think either will work) activates VO
however will this make navigating the watch cumbersome? how can we just glance?
i wish apple would have provided blind consumers wit a video on how VO works
since we are ordering on tech articles alone

Re: [Mac-access]: duo lingo

2015-03-13 Thread william lomas
Hello, can anyone confirm this.
If I use a compact voice for American for example, and I am using the Spanish
language, the Spanish words are read correctly, except in the bearing exercise.
If I use Alex though, this does not occur, and the enhanced quality voice,
could not seem to be used with a foreign language. Also, when using Alex, the
foreign-language you are learning, he is not pronounced with that voice.
What can be done?
Loving the Spanish app, I wonder if when you are more proficient, you can have
a listening exercise, just like you would for an examination, and then, you
would be able to answer the questions to test your comprehension? Same fully.
Thoughts?

[Mac-access]: apple watch

2015-03-13 Thread william lomas
hi all,

,so anyone buying apple watch?
be cool if someone seeing it in-store, record first impressions?
would want to hear it all in use before i decide to pre-order.

by the way, if one pre-orders, would that mean it comes in the mail on 24th,
release day?
Thanks
Will

few points, and please, feel free to converse with me off-list anyone who can

the foundation pile represents cards that must be built upwards from ace, 2, 3

example ace spades, 2 spades 3, etc. including and up to the queen, king
jack.then pile 2 clubs, 3 diamonds 4 hearts, again, commenceing with ace
upwards.that part of the game i seem to understand, but in the podcast it
seemed cards were being moved from the tableau ontop of other cards, that were

[Mac-access]: TV shows on the macintosh and iTunes

2015-01-03 Thread william lomas
Hello to all,
I have purchased some TV shows last year, and when I am in the latest version
of iTunes, they're not appearing, do I have to download them 1st to play them?
I thought, that I could simply play them, directly from the cloud. It seems
stupid having to take up valuable disk space, just to watch a few TV episodes.
Could I just stream them directly to my iPhone instead?
Regards, William

[Mac-access]: difficulties getting handoff and call to work

2014-11-18 Thread william lomas
Hi all has anyone else managed to get calls routed via the iPhone to their mac?
i have turned on bluetooth both devices
turned on handoff on IOS
signed in to the apple ID with FaceTime on the mac and the same apple ID for
FaceTime on IOS
yet for example, if i wish to try this out, and i dial a number in FaceTime to
try it out the item is dimmed for iPhone usage
i have 8.1.1 and mac OS X 10.10
also in a contact with the mac contacts app i do not see use iPhone to place a
call to a contact, if, for example, the iPhone is in another room or even if it
is with me.
The other oddity is that the settings should be correct as per the apple
website and both devices iPhone 5S and macbook air are on the same wifi network
maybe i need someone to call me and establish as to whether the devices work
like this in harmony and allow me to take a call whilst working on my mac

Re: KNFB Reader Does it work on the iPad?

2014-09-24 Thread william lomas
Hello, I think to be fair it would install on an iPad, as it is running apples
operating system.
I don't know that what results we'd get using an iPad, but by all means try it?
I think it's primarily designed for those using an iPhone. It's more portable.
Let me know how you get on.

2014-06-04 Thread William Lomas
Hi Sarah, this sounds okay, but as I only have a MacBook Air 11 inch, and one
soundcard, I guess I'm stuck?
I do have GarageBand now, and was just hoping for a simple streamlined way to
record me speaking with my voice, and any system audio for example, if I want
to talk about game I'm demonstrating, and then record what's going on both at
the same time.

Re: still losing focus

2014-05-15 Thread William Lomas
Hello, no problem!
When I plug in my external hard drive, and go to the desktop, pressing G does
not say the words general volume which is what I would expect. Also, when I do
eventually get into the hard drive, and find a folder of books, pressing the
letter L, does not jump me to a title four example starting with that letter. I
can then not copy a title with a copy command, it is like the keyboard is not
working!
The focus in the Find of these days, just seems very erratic.
Not sure if I should reset preferences or something, but I do need to find a
solution, it's driving me mad!
I'm running Mac OS X 10.9.2, and a MacBook Air mid 2011.
Many thanks to all, William

Did pausing work for you? It's not urgent, was just curious why pause any
audio. Siri does not seem to work too well with them. But they are great for

I tried this when I played music in the Music app, with a song and an

curious as to why I could not pause the audio.

Hello to all
Has anyone else experienced difficulties using Pages under Mac OS 10.9?
Whenever highlight text, voice over is reliably stating that is highlighted,
yet it seems to not copy all of the text as when I paste it somewhere else,
half of it is missing.
This makes the word processor in my view, useless! as I can’t manipulate text

Voice dream reader navigation questions

2014-04-10 Thread William Lomas
hi all

in voice dream reader, i note that you can't easily navigate daisy text-only,
is that right?
i wanted an easy solution to read tnauk titles on my iphone and figured i could
just jump between all sections of the paper, and levels.
i assume the html version is better for this, but how then, would one navigate
an audio daisy book easily in voice dream reader?
regards and many thanks for your responses
William.

opening iCloud documents

2014-04-04 Thread William Lomas
Hello,
I have a query, relating to iCloud. I have documents that I've saved in iCloud
in the text edit program. Is it possible, for me to find them using Pages?
If not, why is this? I only seem to see documents I have saved in pages.
I thought, all of the documents, would be accessible to any application that
creates documents.
In other words, documents I've created in TextEdit, surely should be accessible
to pages, I feel standard RTF or Microsoft Word files?
I'm currently running Mac OS 10.8. Will using 10.9 make a difference?
Regards, William PS, sorry if it doesn't make any sense loll!

poor results tap tap see

2014-03-19 Thread William Lomas
hi all i note that with tap tap see when one pays for the credits, and a tin is
canned half the time it is not telling us what is in the said tin for example
so why pay for credits, when half to hem are wasting away it seems, to
determine one or two objects?
i am getting the focus beep for the image on my 4s but find it off putting that
chargeable credits are being used when to me, if you a re charging for the
service, shouldn't a first time approach be guaranteed?
sighted people know what an object is first time usually without having to keep
re-examining it
just my thoughts

so is their a program i can get to simply rip an audio book in to mp3 and leave
