Re: [Mac-access]: rearanging sections in the latest pages

2014-11-07 Thread Nicholas Parsons
Hi Phil,

That’s right. I’m not sure they mention it in the tutorial but it’s possible to
move the various sections around in the binder (that is, the sidebar which
lists your various sections and sub-sections) using only the keyboard. Using
the arrow keys together with command and control to be exact. This is one of my
favourite features. The outline view is also a good one for VoiceOver.

My other favourite feature is that you can link to other sections within your
Scrivener document. So you can cross reference another section of your paper,
and if you later change the name of those sections, the corresponding
references will update accordingly.

AS for tables, I haven’t tried them. I use Scrivener just for researching,
making notes, organising text and writing my first draft. I use Pages and or
Numbers for formatting, page layout and creating tables etc. I actually suspect
that tables won’t work so well in Scrivener. But I have Numbers for that anyway.

for others that asked, its about $35 US I think. There’s often discounts on
MacUpdate.com. They also offer a pretty generous demo version from their
website.

Nick,

I just downloaded and spendt an hour or so going through the free version of
scrivener and its getting started tutorial.
Yep! it does look like a great app for serious, complex writing projects.
And, it looks to be highly accessible with VO - one of those really VO
friendly apps that are all too infrequent.
Unfortunately, I just don’t need that kind of power for my little writing
projects and can’t justify the cost. BTW: how well does it handle tables? I’ll
bet it’s great there too.
Pages does kind of fall short in a lot of areas - at least for me it does.
That’s why I keep windows w/office 2010 in good order. there are very few
Mac apps that I’ve come across that can compete with Word for word
processing.
