Re: Finding an unread email message

2013-09-10 Thread Andy Collins
Hi Anne again -

When I'm say for example, working in text edit and an email comes in, VO is
interrupted from the app I'm in, to read a portion of the newly arrived email,
is that what happens if the preview pain is active, or would that behaviour
happen anyway? Still not sure I've got it turned off -

Re: Finding an unread email message

2013-09-10 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Andy,

There is no option to turn off the preview pane. You have to navigate to the
horizontal splitter under the message headers in classic view, or to the
vertical splitter between the message headers and the message body in the
modern view, then bring the mouse (VO-Cmd-F5) and double click with mouse or
trackpad.

If you press VO-j on a message, does it read it? If so, you still have the
preview pane showing. If you're in classic view, does pressing VO-Down arrow
take you to the body of the message? If so, you still have the preview pane
showing.

Cheers,

Anne

Re: Finding an unread email message

2013-09-10 Thread Andy Collins
Replying to my own messages now,as I figure out more stuff.

I think I was focusing on the wrong horizontal splitter, as there are two
showing up for me. Using VO right arrow, things look this way:

tool bar; mail boxes; vertical splitter; messages table; horizontal splitter;
mail activity; new mail box button; hide mail activity button, and mail boxes
action, and then a second horizontal splitter. I had been focusing on the first
horizontal splitter for the mouse click, and perhaps that's why nothing
appeared to change, but when I clicked on the second horizontal splitter, it
looks so far, that I am now seeing unread in the status column, and that stays
visible until I read the message. This is what I wanted, so hopefully now, it's
sorted. Thanks to all that helped and offered suggestions -

Re: Finding an unread email message

2013-09-10 Thread Andy Collins
Hi Anne - Struggling a bit with this one.

If I VO arrow down say when on the from tab, VO just reads out peoples names,
the way it reads subject titles in the subject tab, it doesn't open and start
reading the message, but doing VO j does open and read the message, as if I'd
hit return. Ive tried clicking on the horizontal splitter by doing VO cmd f5,
and a double click by pressing VO shift and pressing space bar twice, but when
I go back to interacting with my messages table, there appears to be no change -

Re: Finding an unread email message

2013-09-10 Thread Georgina Joyce
Hello Andy,

Have you thought of setting up a smart mailbox? I have set a smart mail box and
I keep my focus in the unread smart mailbox. I then have set up mail rules to
automatically put posts into specific folders. So if I have a new message from
my bank or from this list while they have the unread flag set they can be
accessed from the unread smart mailbox.

Lol. I have mine sorted by subject that way I can see which in the thread will
be unread, but that's another rway to do this.

Good luck and be blessed.

Re: Finding an unread email message

2013-09-09 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Andy,

Interact with the Messages table, go to the Status column, press VO-Virtical
line which is shift on backslash, then press VO-Space and VO-Virtical line
again. Your messages will now be sorted by status and the unread messages will
be at the bottom of the table. You can set it to be sorted by whichever column
you choose in this way. If you do the same sequence of commands a second time
on the same column, it will be sorted in the other direction.

Cheers,

Anne

Hello. Go to the second column in the table of mail, then look for the unread
image. You can scan quick through a column with vo down arrow.

Good luck.

Finding an unread email message

2013-09-09 Thread Andy Collins
Hi all -

I can use cmd u to see how many unread messages there are in my in box, but how
can I quickly move to an unread message, instead of going up and down the list
of subjects to find the unread ones? -
