Another possibility, is remote AppleScript. This only works for specific tasks
that you know about ahead of time.

You might want to try Vnc://remoteHost This only works for sighted people.

Re: Managing Another Computer

2012-04-30 Thread Mrs. Lynnette Annabel Smith
Hello John

Remote Desktop definitely is not and, I'm told by Apple engineers, will never
be accessible unless they do a total rewrite. The user interface relies on
imaging technologies which it isn't possible to have spoken or piped to
VoiceOver as text.

You can also do it via terminal with remote login and using SSH, but you
have to be comfortable with terminal and know what you are doing.

OK, so ARD is not accessible. That answers that question

Re: Managing Another Computer

2012-04-29 Thread Mrs. Lynnette Annabel Smith
Hello Chris

There are a number of ways to do this; but I'm not sure if they are accessible.
What I can tell you for sure is that Apple Remote Desktop certainly isn't
accessible. But I seem to remember that iChat screen sharing is accessible, and
there might be another method. But from what I have seen none of the
alternatives come close to Remote Desktop in terms of what you can actually do.

I am very ready to be corrected if I'm mistaken; and I would love to be so. But
that's the situation as I understand it.

Re: Managing Another Computer

2012-04-29 Thread John Panarese
I'm not sure exactly how to do it or the specific steps, but you would
use remote Management, remote login, or screen sharing services in the Sharing
preferences of System preferences. You can use SSH via terminal or just
connect to the other Mac, but I have not done this as of yet and don't know the
exact steps. Also, there is Apple Remote Desktop 3.5, but I don't know how
accessible it is or it is not. There is probably a lot of information if you
search support on the Apple website.
