Re: Russian-English Dictionary accessible on a Mac with VO

2013-09-23 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Mary,

Word Reference is really easy to use. After entering your word and clicking the
button, just do VO-Cmd-h once or twice to get a heading level 3, then navigate
straight down. Sorry, I use Groups mode in Safari as it's quicker.

Cheers,

Anne

Re: Russian-English Dictionary accessible on a Mac with VO

2013-09-23 Thread Ben J Bloomgren
Mary, James and all,

I was hoping that IOS7 would have included Hebrew, but as far as I've seen,
that's not the case. As for Russian on the Mac and on iOS, it is very doable. I
use a PacMate 40 Braille display, and the Cyrillic characters come very easily.
The Russian Braille table also allows for the use of several other languages
which use Cyrillic, which is a nice bonus. WordReference uses Collins
dictionaries, so they should be accessible.

2013-09-20 Thread Mary Otten
Hi James,
Yes, Russian does use the Cyrillic alphabet. But it is not at all like Hebrew,
in that it is not written from right to left, nor are there varied forms of the
letters as there are in Arabic and I think also Hebrew.
There is a Russian voice for voice over. So it should be accessible. In theory.

Hi Mary,

I have the English French and italian Collins/Ultralingua dictionairies and
they are completely accessible except for the Flashcards. However, I think that
Russian uses a script that is not based on Latin lettering. I think it is

2013-09-19 Thread Chris Gilland
OK, I don't know about an actual app, so this may not be exactly what you
want per sey, but how about going to

http://www.wordreference.com

You don't need to register for an account, unless you want to post to the
forums.
