2013-09-12 Thread Artie!

Brenda, The keystroke to turn on voiceover is command + f5. Same to
turn it off, and same to turn it back on.To change the name of the personb,
the speed and pitch is control option command plus left or right arrow or up or
down arrow. The control and option keys are known as V O. V o command + the
up or down and or right or left arrow keys.

IBELIEVE THAT ALL MACS STILL COME WITH VOICEOVER STARTING UP BY
DEFAULT. YOU WILL HAVE THE OPTION TO RUN THE GETTING STARTED WIZARD.
IF YOUR MAC HAS THIS TURNED OFF THEN THE SHORT ANSWER IS USE COMMAND F5 TO TURN
VOICEOVER ON. IF THIS DOES NOT WORK YOU CAN THEN TRY FN COMMAND F5 IF YOUR
FUNCTION KEYS ARE SET TO HARDWARE RATHER THAN software .
YOUR Voiceover keys are CONTROL AND OPTION AND YOU COULD START WITH hitting
vo H to bring up Voiceover and help and select the Quick start tutorial. This
should happen by default anyway if it is a new Mac I think.

When using a windows keyboard, the windows key is command and the alt

David, on a windows keyboard, what are the equivalents to things like
VoiceOver and Options and Command keys?

Re: if i get a Mac, how do we set up VoiceOver?

2013-09-12 Thread Artie!

My Apple is a Mac Book Pro 13 [laptop]. However, I bought a full
keyboard to attach via USB plug. The full keyboard has the large black keys
and supersize characters in white. Of course that doesn't mean anything to me,
but we marked certain keys so I can feel where my fingers are.

From the space bar going left, first is the command key, [which is the alt key
on the ms keyboard, then the option key, [which is the logo key on the MS
keyboard,] then the control key, [same as the MS keybord].

From the space bar going right; first is the command key, [which is the alt
key on the MS keyboard], then the option key, [which is the logo key on the MS
keyboard], then the control key, [same as the MS keyboard]. I had to grasp
the concept that the control key and the option key together are called v o.
Combos such as v o + space, and v o + right arrow at first blew my mind. Now
we've lerned: v o command + h; and v o command shift + h in safari. Say what?

For Brenda; doing some of the functions in apple are similar to the MS
keystrokes; similar. To copy selected text [to the clipboard],cmd+c instead of
ctrl+c. To cut to the clipboard is cmd+x instead of ctrl+x. To paste is
cmd+v instead of ctrl+v. To undo is cmd+z instead of ctrl+z.
