Oh it works fine now, but I hate left and right arrowing to try and find it.
I want to just read it with a keystroke. I am wondering if a keyboard commander
would do nicely for this.

Ahh, so it is fixed (after a fashion) good to know.
I'll be sure to remember that when I get my hardware updated. :)

Re: voiceover and progress indicators

2012-06-29 Thread Travis Siegel
This is something I've gone back and forth with apple about myself.
During the leopard/snowleopard betas, I'd reported several times that
these sort of indicators didn't update on their own, and apple would
fix it in the next beta, only to have it break again with the next
one. I haven't a clue why this is, but the darned thing just won't
stay fixed, so I gave up reporting it. But, since my machines are
now old enough that they don't support the latest and greatest, I'm
happy to say these sorts of issues no longer haunt me. I just use my
old programs, and write my own stuff as needed to get my work done,
and I'm happy.
When I have the funds of course, I'll update, at which point I'll
begin all over again trying to get apple to behave themselves, but
until then, I'm fine with my tiger mac minis.

I think what they want to know is can they set up a keystroke with out going
back and forth to read it? At least in the main OS? This will not work in the

I've never done this but you can set up a keyboard commander key for let's say
right option and p or 2 or what ever to speak progress bars. Again I really
don't know if this can be done but good luck.

Re: voiceover and progress indicators

2012-06-26 Thread Lewis Crack
Hi Josh.

I am happy to say that there is a way to enable VoiceOver to speak Progress
Bars when they change.
Press Control Option F8 to open VoiceOver Utility.
Then go to Speech, then tab to Progress Indicators, Play Tone. Press Space on
that, and arrow down to Speak.
that should answer your query.
Regards.
Lewis.
