2004-11-16 Thread Carlos Nazario
Howdy Gang,

My adult Day Center was given a Mac LaserWriter 4/600 PS that we want
to use with a Performa 6400 180. Can anyone give me some basic
instructions one how to get them to work together.

I hooked them up with AppleTalk connectors and activated AppleTalk but
the printer doesn't show up in the chooser.

What gives?

MacGroup: OS 8.1 Download burn to CD?

2004-01-29 Thread Carlos Nazario
Hello,

I am wanting to update an older computer that I installed 8.0 on. It
doesn't have a reliable internet connection so I want to download the
software on mine and burn it to disk so I can install it on the other.

Is there some sort of trick to making startup disks for this sort of
purpose?

Any and all help will be appreciated.

Frank,

What exactly is a hard reset?

It sounds like something that I had to do a couple of times in the last
couple of weeks when my iBook's battery ran completely down and froze
up.

MacGroup: Re: OS 10.2.8 Odd behavior

2003-12-04 Thread Carlos Nazario
It is at it again.

I started up and my dock settings were reset to the originals. I did
not lose, however, an application that I had put there two days ago.

Also, my folders on my desktop are now neatly lined up under my hard
drive icons. I think my iBook has been listening to some PC propaganda.

MacGroup: OS 10.2.8 Odd behavior

2003-12-04 Thread Carlos Nazario
Two days ago I started up my iBook and my dock settings were reset to
the original default. Tonight I started up Mail and it acted like I had
just installed the program.

It now will only import one of three extra mailboxes that I have. It
recognized one but not the others. I tried twice, it tried to import it
twice.

I haven't noticed anything else yet.

Any clues?

MacGroup: Print Prob (GIMP Drivers)

2003-11-19 Thread Carlos Nazario
Hello,

Will the GIMP drivers work with a Z53?

If so, are they easy to install?

Lastly, where can I find them?

I have a Z53 and have had difficulty getting it to work with OS 10.2. I
am at a state where it will not print at all. Print Center constantly
stops the work. Ironically, a Z23 I bought at Target on clearance for
$30 and it works just fine in OS 10.2 (OS 9.1 is a different matter).

MacGroup: CD Labels - Need Advice

2003-11-09 Thread Carlos Nazario
Hello All,

I am working on a fundraising project for the Social Service agency
that I work for and I need advice. We are putting together a Christmas
music CD ourselves and we are not sure the best way to handle labelling
the disks. We have seen the adhesive pages that you run through your
ink jet printer and the CD Stomper thingy.

Has anybody out there had any experience with doing this sort of thing?

Any advice would be appreciated.

MacGroup: Excel good for dbase work or...

2003-07-28 Thread Carlos Nazario
Hello out there...

I am working with a puppetry troupe that is evolving into a puppetry
arts organization and as such need a good program to handle our
database needs. They were considering Excel, but I questioned this
thinking that a dedicated d-base program would be far better and easier
to use.

Any users of Excel or other programs care to share their opinion?

By the way the puppet group is non-profit so cost could figure into the
equation.
