problem with install of gmt
I am trying to install gmt5 and find a problem with an obsolete dependancy. I installed gshhg-gmt as a separate macport install. It installed correctly. That didn’t help. Apparently the install script is still trying to install the obsolete gshhg-gmt-nc4 instead of the new gshhg-gmt. I am still waiting for my confirming TRAC email, I hope this shortcut will find favor with the maintainers…. I get the following: sudo port install gmt5 --- Computing dependencies for gmt5 --- Dependencies to be installed: gshhg-gmt-nc4 --- Configuring gshhg-gmt-nc4 Error: gshhg-gmt-nc4 has been made obsolete by the port gshhg-gmt. libjpeg-devel?
I'm having a go at installing freeswitch (VOIP server, www.freeswitch.org) on a 10.9.1 macmini and it has a half dozen dependencies that I'm hoping can be taken care of with macports. The freeswitch Mac wiki says to use Brew http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Installation_and_Setup_on_OS_X. I'm a macports guy so I want to see if I can get it working with macports and have them update the wiki. freeswitch wants libjpeg-devel for header files. The jpeg macport doesn't seem to satisfy this and I don't see a libjpeg-devel or jpeg-devel port. Am I out of luck? The jpeg macport doesn't seem to satisfy this It's speaking in Linux (Red Hat / Debian) terms, where headers and link-time libraries are always split out into -devel / -dev packages. MacPorts does not do this; the normal port installs headers and link libraries. (A -devel port in MacPorts means a beta, prerelease, or testing version. Be aware that these can go stale after being promoted to being the main port, and if the maintainer doesn't require a test version for subsequent minor updates the -devel port can be older than the main one.) I don't know if the jpeg port is up to date enough, but suspect it is because there are a lot of things that depend on it and depend on it being recent. -- brandon s allbery kf8nh sine nomine associates allber...@gmail.com ballb...@sinenomine.net unix, openafs, kerberos, infrastructure, xmonadhttp://sinenomine.net ___ macports-users mailing list macports-users@lists.macosforge.org https://lists.macosforge.org/mailman/listinfo/macports-users

It is not proper to declare a dependency on a replaced port, so this is a bug. Please report this bug to the maintainers of gmt4 and gmt5. Ideally, file a bug report in Trac. If that is not possible, please email the maintainers. You can get their addresses by running “port info gmt4 gmt5”.
