Help with Night Owl Twitter Client
Hi, I'm having two problems with this client that's stopping it from becoming my main Twitter client and replacing Syrinx. Firstly, even though I went into general prefs and unchecked automatically scroll to the top of the list, whenever I'm in another app, like Adium and I get a new tweet, when I go back to Yoru, I have to hit down arrow before I can read the new tweets. Unchecking the option to automatically scroll to top seemed to help, but then it stopped working. Second, even though conversation view was working right earlier, now when I press command 3, it reads me who the tweet was from, and maybe a bit of the tweet itself, and then it makes a noise at me, stopping VoiceOver from reading. I've quit and relaunched the app, as well as VoiceOver, but it hasn't helped. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do to change this behavior? I've looked through both VoiceOver and Yoru preferences, and I can't find anything. Therefore, any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks, Brianna -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. To post to this group, send email to macvisionaries@googlegroups.com. IF you click on the "listen Live" link, you should hear audio in about 30 seconds or less. The "listen" link is just to the right of each station's area. IF you are attempting to listen to five livve extra, you will notice that they often do not have events playing or else sometimes do not have the license to stream content. Re: Question about Safari and Snow Leopard
Hi: Have you tried using DOM VS group mode? Some sites work best in the opposite setting. IE if you are on DOM, switch to group. I'd also suggest downloading the latest nightly build of webkit. Sometimes webkit handles sites better than Safari. Re: downloading from the BARD site
Hi there, I learned by my mistakes. Just be patient. For a large book, it might take a few minutes to expand, but, it will be done automatically. You will first notice your book in the download folder as a zip file. Go have a cup of tea or something. Come back and it will be an uncompressed DAISY book folder. Copy the file. Go to the finder, find your drive's icon, open it, and paste in the book. I hit escape first just to make sure I don't have any other files selected in the drive's folder. If you interact with the progress alert, you can listen to the number of books remaining to be pasted. Remember, Daisy books actually are a number of files kept in a common folder. Question about Safari and Snow Leopard
Hi, all. I'm still running Snow Leopard, and I've been having trouble with Safari. I've never been as comfortable with it as I was with Internet Explorer, but, for most things, I've managed to make it work. However, I'm having difficulty navigating a large site. I need to find an edit box where I can post a comment, and then, the button beneath the box to actually post the comment to the site. It doesn't matter what I set the web router to. No matter what I do, it refuses to find the box. I can find the "post comment" button with the item chooser, but, once I find it, I just sort of know it exists on the page without knowing where. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've been using Internet Explorer on the Windows side of my Mac to do this, because fighting with Safari is proving too time-consuming. However, I would like a solution, if there is one. Thanks so much for any advice anyone can offer. Shannon Are you a fan of women's music? Robert, That is incorrect. VoiceOver does not read the file itself that is done by an application. You just have to find an application that will read the file format. Re: an easy but time consuming fix for those having Lion issues
Hi. If you go in to the go menu in the finder, I heard that if you hold down the option key while scrolling through, the library option will show up. Alternatively, there are other ways to do it. I'd run a google search and find some. Once you find one that works for you, create an alias so you'll be able to go back there again. Should I upgrade to Fusion 4?
Hi listers, I am running a MacBook Air with 4 gigs of ram and a 2.13 GHZ core2 Duo under Lion. I currently use Fusion 3 with Windows 7 and Window-Eyes 7.5. Re: Lion Mail question
Are you using the standard Lion layout or have you gone back to the previous version. In the newer layout I can't figure out how to go down by files. fusion and lion
Hi, Is anybody still running fusion version 3 under Lion with win xp? If so, is it ok? I'm asking because I'm still running snow leopard, but am wanting to upgrade to lion finally, but only if I can still do the fusion 3 with win xp because I need that for school. I have a lion disk my husband made, so I can install lion that way. Thanks, Caitlyn -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. I forgot to say that after you put in the dots 4 5 6 ing sign, then you quickly put in the st sign for the slash or the for sign for the equals. You have to do it quickly or the translator will grab the ing sign the others and misinterpret them. If you use the second option of turning on uncontracted braille and dots 7 and 8, then you do that in the VoiceOver utility under Braille. This gives you computer Regards again, Gigi braille. Re: Terminal problem: speech getting interrupted when new text appears
The only solution I have heard that really works is to use a terminal window within emacsspeak. I have not tried this, but I have terminal fairly under control. The first thing to know is that by default terminal continually keeps the full scroll back by default, so after 20,000 or so lines of text it gets unbearably slow. You can reduce the scrollback, in the preferences or you can hit command-k before doing a significant command and this will clear the scrollback history and then the entire command will be in the scroll buffer. One thing I will often do for local files is to pipe the output to open -a textedit -f This will push the output into a textedit window. If you search the archives I have a few other suggestions wrt terminal and being friendly. Terminal problem: speech getting interrupted when new text appears
Hello, I am new to this list -- actually I am also a complete newbie with Mac. I got my very first Macbook Pro just couple days ago. So far I'm very impressed and happy with it.However, I seem to have a small issue with the Terminal application: I am using ssh to connect to another machine from Terminal. There I'm using a program that puts lots of text on the screen. Some times then I see that VoiceOver doesn't speak everything, because every time there is a new event on the screen, the speech gets interrupted and only the newest text is spoken. I have been going through VoiceOver settings trying to find a way to fix it, but can't find anything. Also, I love Alex, but am finding it a bit slow some times. Is there somewhere a setting to tell Alex to stop breathing and pausing between words? Or could someone recommend some other less human-like voice to use when needed? Any help is much appreciated. Searching through digest mail
Hi, Until yesterday when I received messages as a digest, I could quickly flick from topic to topic by typing topic in the search field then hitting vo-g to go to the next occurrence of the word. The word topic now appears to have been removed from the start of each subject under discussion. Can anyone suggest an equally or even easier way of moving from topic to topic without having to actually type the subject being discussed each time? You can also use VO+J to jump to the message area. On 22 Oct 2011, at 09:24, M. A Quick Tip for Those Now Using Control-Tab in Lion Mail 7.2
Hello Everyone, As has been noted in previous messages, it is now necessary to add the [Control] key to the [Tab] key in order to quickly jump to the Message Content Area when Lion 7.2 Mail is set to its default 3-column view. Let's hope that Apple addresses this so that we can, once again, return to only needing to press the [Tab] key to accomplish this jump. For those of us using an Apple keyboard that only has one [Control] key, said key being on the same side of the keyboard as the [Tab] key, this new key combination can quickly become uncomfortable. I am delighted to report that, for the time being at least, you can use the [Command]+[Option] keys as modifiers to the [Tab] in order to quickly jump to the Message Content Area; this means that you can press the [Command]+[Option] keys on the right side of the Spacebar while tapping the [Tab] key, iliminating the need to press the [Control] key altogether. Mark PS I wonder how many times I can squeeze the word key in to one paragraph? (Smile). -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Creative Writing Software for the Mac?
Hi All, A while back, there were some posts about accessible creative writing software for the Mac. If any one has experience with this type of software, can you please make some recommendations about which packages work well with VoiceOver? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
