ABBYY FR has a menu item for checking for updates. It takes me to a safari

Sudden major issues with Facebook mobile site

2013-08-21 Thread Christine Grassman
Is anyone else experiencing a sudden inability to post statuses, delete items,
or get around Facebook as usual? I am interacting with the "What's On Your
MInd" on my main page and "Update Status" but nothing is working. In fact, on
my page, I am not even getting an edit box for the update status. For "What's
On Your MInd" there is an edit box, but nothing is being posted. Also, I am
getting a bunch of "Safari busy" messages when I attempt to update status.
It also used to be exceptionally easy to switch between my main user page and
my other page, but this is no longer the case. This all happened over night!

I tried going into the Safari develop menu, thinking I would open the page
with Internet Explorer . . . but when I go into the "open page as" submenu, I
am seeing only Google Chrome; it isn't even listing Safari. I tried quitting
out of Safari and going back in, then tried rebooting. I am working on a major
project which requires Facebook access, so would really appreciate prompt help.
Thank you.
Christine

Re: Sudden major issues with Facebook mobile site

2013-08-21 Thread Jessica Moss
For the "what's on your mind" issue, the workaround I've found ffor that, was
to tab to the "status," button, vo+space on it, then the edit box will come up
prompting you to type. That was an issue with me for well over a month at
least, and I had to play around with it in order to get it to work.

a small gps victory

2013-08-21 Thread jean parker
Dear all:
After listening to Mike Orego's podcast on using google maps I decided to give
it a try. As it turned out I am very glad I did.
Last Saturday evening, middle of the night really, I was returning to Pasadena
from Urvine California where I had been attending a conference with some
friends. None of us were familiar with the Los Angeles freeway system,
possibly the largest, most complex freeway system in the world, and we became
hopelessly lost. So upon request from the driver of the car I got out my new
I-Phone, opened up google maps, found our location and successfully navigated
us all back to Pasadena where we belonged.

I never thought in a million years I would ever be called upon to navigate the
L A freeways but I have done it and plan to do it some more.
Just thought I would share,
Jean

Book I downloaded from Bard

2013-08-21 Thread Eugenia Firth
Hello guys
I want to tell you guys about this truly amazing book because, in addition to
what she talks about in the book, the book is absolutely amazing because the
author first started writing it on the iPad and then switched to the iPhone. A
journalist became ill with AL S, a truly horrific disabling disease. She could
no longer right at all using any other method, so she started using her iPad
and then used the iPhone to write most of it using the on screen keyboard with
one thumb. She could only use one thumb, and the book is 363 pages. I can't
imagine doing that, and that takes real persistence. The name of the book is
until I say goodbye: my year of living with Joy by Susan Spencer Wendall. I
just thought I would like to pass this information along since I found it so
unbelievable that she could write that many pages with one thumb. Her disease
prevented her from using the dictation option like I am right now.
Regards,
Gigi

Facebook login problem using safari

2013-08-21 Thread Phil Halton
Every time I try to log into the m.facebook.com site, when entering my
password, safari goes crazy as soon as I press the first key and acts like I'm
holding down the key and enters a zillion keystrokes. It's like the key press
is stuck in the down position. I have to command tab away from safari to get it
to stop the clicking sound that happens when you type a key in a password field.
I've tried it several times throughout the day and its happening every time.

I haven't tried rebooting, but I have a feeling that isn't going to help.

Ever heard of this behavior before?

I'm not sure if there's a simpler way to do this than the way I've been doing
it, but the way I've been doing it, is to vo+right arrow until I hear the name

want to open, sense they're labeled as buttons. If anyone knows of another
method, please let us know.

Hi,

I’m not sure what you mean here. You copy text like you would in any text
field or document.

Open the message, and use the arrow keys + shift to select the text. Adding
the option key will select word by word, etc. When finish selecting, press
command C to copy.

Re: pinning things to the doc

2013-08-21 Thread Tim Kilburn
Jeff,

As Ray mentioned, the command is cmd-shift-t to add something to the Dock.
Simply navigate while in the Applications folder to the app you wish to add to
the Dock, once that app has VO focus, just press the cmd-shift-t key
combination and the item will be added to the Dock. This also works with
folders as well.

Re: Book I downloaded from Bard

2013-08-21 Thread Les Kriegler
Hi There,

Thank you for the recommendation. I have another for you that my wife
recommended, it appears to be a similar story, different illness. Both books
are available from BARD. They may be available from Bookshare, but I
downloaded from BARD, as I much prefer a narrated book over one read with
synthesized speech.
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, a best seller.
The diving bell and the butterfly DB 46844

Bauby, Jean-Dominique. Reading time: 2 hours, 4 minutes.
Read by Bruce Huntey.

Biography
Disability
Bestsellers

A series of reminiscences by a paralyzed survivor of a massive stroke. A victim
of "locked-in syndrome," he feels as if his body were inside a diving bell,
while his mind can still "soar like a butterfly." He poignantly recalls a time
when he took good health for granted, and he describes how hard it is to
communicate when he can only blink his left eye. Bestseller.

Re: probleming reading apple developer documentation

2013-08-21 Thread Venkatesh Potluri
Hi.
Thanks for the info :)
I started reading the tutorial andnow I am facing another problem.
I am unable to add an action to the button. the tutorial says that I
have to control-drag the button from the interface builder to the
method declaration section in the viewControler's header file in the
assistant editor. I tried to select the button in the table that
shows the hierarchy of elements in a view, go to the connections
inspector, go to the "unknown" next to action, move the mouse pointer
there, do a mouse down, go to the assistant editor and release the
mouse at the relevant place. This method works when trying to add a
referencing outlet but does not seem to work in this case.
Kindly suggest.
Cheers
