Re: login on a remote disc

Hi,

Not sure why the Disconnect button is not working for you as I’ve used it
myself in the past. further to what Chris already mentioned, if you go to the
Finder, press cmd-comma to bring up the Finder Prefs, then in the General pane,
make sure that the checkbox is checked for Show Connected Servers, any network
drives will show up as an icon on your Desktop whereby the cmd-e for Eject
works to logout and cmd-k can be used easily for logging into these network
connections.

Network drives should show up just link physical local drives. You can
select them and then eject them with command-E. After that you can use
command-K to connect to another (or the same) server again with the same
(or different) credentials. You can't connect to the same server
multiple times with different credentials concurrently.

Can't set up allowance for self

2015-07-29 Thread Traci Duncan
Lol! Just tried an experiment, which failed! The part of family sharing that
bugs me is using 1 payment method. I wanted to see if I could dance around
this by setting up my own allowance… FYI, that is not possible.

The simplest solution I have come up with so far, is buying iTunes gift cards
via paypal digital store. I can then load these onto my account, by which
creating my own, separate payment. A bit of a pain, but doable.

HTH, Traci

PS. Apple could take a lesson from Amazon, which allows you to create a family
shared library, 2 adults & something like 4 children. The 2 adults can have
separate payments.

Duxbury in a VM Help

2015-07-29 Thread Emilio Hernandez
Hello everyone,

I posted this question a couple of week ago, but I thought I would try again to
see if anyone has suggestions.
Basically, when I use Duxbury in a Windows 7 VM Jaws stops announcing the text,
and only says “blank,” after about half a page approximately.
When I load the same document on a dedicated Windows machine the process of
editing my document is flawless.
My questions are what is happening for Jaws not to be announcing itself
correctly when using Duxbury in the VM, as opposed to a dedicated Windows
machine? What can I do to resolve this problem because I do not want to keep a
laptop around for this single purpose.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

CB

On 7/27/15 4:22 AM, Christopher Gilland wrote:

Guys,

This is honestly not a terribly big deal, as I
practically haven’t used this account in literally
probably over a year, but I know it’s still active, as I
can sign in no problem from the webmail interface with
Safari.

Anyway, I have a really really really! old AOL account
which I’m trying to set up in Mail on my Mac running
Yosemite 10.10.4.

I am able to select AOL as the account type, and then
put in my screen n...@aol.com and the password. The
issue is, as soon as I hit the setup button with
VO+Space, it dims itself for a few seconds, then becomes
available once again, but it won’t step me through to
the next step of the account setup process.

I checked to see if perhaps it added the account anyway
in the accounts list table, but it didn’t.

So, I guess ultimately, two questions…

Firstly and foremost, has Apple broken the ability to
set up an AOL e-mail account through the auto-setup
procedure in Mail with Yosemite? If not, then my next,
and final question would be, has anyone here on the list
gotten it recently within Yosemite 10.10.4 to work
correctly? I understand that if you already had your
account setup say from Mountain Lion, or Mavericks, or
whatever, then it probably still works, as the account
was setup previously before upgrading, but I’m saying
more, has anyone specifically natively within Yosemite
itself setup an AOL account which wasn’t previously
configured?

Again, I’ve marked this e-mail as low priority, as
truefully, I’m really not terribly concerned. Yeah, it
would be cool to get this account working, but if I
can’t, it’s not the end of the world. I’ve not used it
in over nearly a year or so, so it’s not like I’m really
missing much by not having access to it. This does have
me a little bit intriegued though.

Chris.

Has anyone had any luck with this? It works great so far, but when I'm

Subject: USB dilemma.

Hi all!
I have a small dilemma which i need some advice about.
I have a braille display, a Papenmeier Els40 which is connected to my mac with
a usb cable.
What i want is some sort of usb switch that can be connected to both my mac and
pc and then be able to switch between them so i don’t need to shift cables on
the braille display.
I hope you understand what i mean.

go to mail preferences. you press command and coma to get there. when setting
up a new account mac can detect type of account with some of them. i'm guessing
the smtp or outgoing mail setting probably isn't quite right. make sure you
have authenitification set to on. hope that helps, max

2 questions about email

2015-07-29 Thread gracewelln...@atlanticbb.net
Hello,

I was able to create my email account, and I have 2 questions, please.
1. When I created it, I only had to type username and password. Does the mac
know automatically the account info? Where can I check the properties as I do
in Windows? I sent a message from the inbox, but the message never arrived.
2.Is there a sent folder? I se inbox, delete, archive and junk, but not sent
folder.
Thank you,
Rena

Re: RNIB Overdrive syncing question

not sure if it still takes up space. i think it does actually as when i have
looked on some occations the book is still there and i can still play it and i
know that it isnt there on the book shelf of the library i got it from as the
time has run out. i have reinstalled the app several times as well. i guess i
can deal with it but it would be a lot easier if that bit worked. lol.
