Re: Windows 10 Anniversary Update compatibility with VMWare Fusion

2016-08-05 Thread Grant
Hey Jonathan, thanks for the confirmation. I wasn’t able to locate any support
notices either from Microsoft or the screen reader vendors at the time of
upgrading, and as you noted, all information from the VMWare knowledge base
pertained to upgrading from a previous version of Windows which makes sense due
to how specific the issue is.

Still, at this point I’m running the Anniversary Update on two machines and all
is running fine. I’ve essentially done a reinstall of Windows, but my data is
intact so all's well that ends well.

Best,

Grant

Re: Who's playing at Arthur's Tavern tonight?

2016-08-05 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

I went to the site which I'm assuming you're speaking of. Arthur's Tavern in
New York City. Rather far away for me, but the web-site's close. With Safari
and VO web navigation set to Group mode, I was able to press VO-cmd-t to find
the table, then VO-shift-down to interact with the table. Once inside the
table, I could navigate with VO-left/right/up/down through the various cells in
the table telling me who played on each day of the wee. I believe that it was
the Grove Street something-or-other on Mondays. It's possible that this site
is more difficult using DOM or tab navigation, but It seemed very accessible to
me using Group navigation and VO keys.

Re: Command o Not working Inside Dropbox

2016-08-05 Thread Brian Fischler
Hey that is awful that people were telling you to shut up about it as this is
an issue that only affects specific Macs not all. It started with El Cap for me
but not others and has been confirmed with Apple Accessibility as a bug that
has been kicked up to the developers. Hopefully it will be fixed for us who
have the issue in Sierra.

I had a sighted person using my computer yesterday, so I guess he changed that.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Command o Not working Inside Dropbox

2016-08-05 Thread Jeff Berwick
Hi all,

All of a sudden today, when I go into my Dropbox, I cannot use Command + o to
open a folder. If I do a [VO] + [Shift] + m and choose open in a new tab, it
works. This is only happening inside my Dropbox folder.

Any thoughts?

Tia,
Jeff

Re: Playing BBC World Service Content on My Mac

2016-08-05 Thread Craig Werner
David and everyone, as I wrote a few days ago, the help file that
speaks of incompatibility with OS X VoiceOver is confusing. The
notation actually relates to the BBC Media Player, not, strictly
speaking, to the BBC iPlayer. I am confused because I am under the
impression that the Media Player is an Android app, so associations
with VoiceOver make no sense to me. At any rate, as I said a few days
ago, an update of the Adobe Flash Player allows me to listen to the
iPlayer Radio stream on my Mac running OS X 10.10.5. The link to the
BBC help file is

Re: Twitter

2016-08-05 Thread Larry Thacker Jr.
I’m guessing that’s the best we can do, but I’m betting it doesn’t address the
source of the annoyance. It happens in Nightowl too. When you’re scrolling
through the tweets VO interrupts what is currently being spoken to say, “one
row added.” If your feed is particularly active it can be a real problem. In
a quick run through the preferences panel I didn’t see a way to turn off live
streaming in Twitter. That would address the issue if there’s a way to do it.

Re: Twitter

2016-08-05 Thread Saqib Hussain
Hi. Whenever I’m reading a tweet and a new one comes in! VO stops to tell me
that one row is added, meaning a new tweet has arrived and then reads my
current tweet out again. I just wanted to stop this interruption. I want my
tweet read out in full without VO telling me that another one has come in. I
hope this makes sense.

Ad Blockers

2016-08-05 Thread Adrienne Chalmers
Hi

I have one of these running on my iPhone, but was wondering if anyone had any
recommendations for an ad blocker for my MBP?

One of my favourite sites has just become almost useless because they’ve taken
to slapping third party ad content all over it.

Thanks in advance
