And, according to a US pattent filed by Apple, they may have a way of tracking
physiological factors such as heart rate, temp, various chemical compounds in
perspiration, and so forth.
It is also rumoured that the iPhone 7 will have an upgraded Bluetooth chip with
almost no delay.

Hi Mark,
Of course, only time will tell. But I think you are wrong about the
disappearing headphone jack. For one thing, Samsung put back the storage
card thing, but did not put back the user replaceable battery. Also, if the
other rumor is true, Apple will be including compatible earbuds with the new
phone, as well as an adapter to make it possible for people to use other
headphones. Given the prevalence of Bluetooth these days, I suspect that the
headphone jack will in fact be gone from iPhones forever. Other device
makers are already moving in this direction. So it isn't just Apple. In
fact, they will not be the first ones to market without a headphone jack on
the phone.

When Samsung attempted to make its devices thinner by (1) removing the
removable battery and (2) removing the ability to add auxiliary memory to
its flagship phones, it soon reversed its decision as the market,
effectively, rejected the devices in favor of other companies who kept
those features.

A couple of years ago, when Apple decided to remove the ability for iOS
devices to have their photo content immediately available to PC users upon
attaching the device to the computer, the marketplace went crazy and vowed
to turn to Android if Apple insisted on forcing people to use iTunes in
order to manage photos.

Like Samsung, Apple immediately reversed itself by restoring this feature
in the subsequent release of iTunes.

So, I'll just wait and see for, unless 7 is a complete hit, something
tells me that iPhone 8 will bring the jack back (smile).

When all the “hubbub” concerning Apple removing the earphone jack first
appeared I was certain they (Apple) was going to provide an adapter so
potential customers would be able to use their existing earphones with the
iPhone 7. This coming to light does not surprise me in the least.

When all the “hubbub” concerning Apple removing the earphone jack
first appeared I was certain they (Apple) was going to provide an
adapter so potential customers would be able to use their existing
earphones with the iPhone 7. This coming to light does not surprise me
in the least.

2016-08-31 Thread Jeffrey Shockley
Hi,
I’m not sure how well this will work for you, but here’s how I made the “Setup
Voice Messaging” button come up on the Mac.
What you have to do is go into Skype’s preferences, find the “Calls” button in
the toolbar and click on it. Then, you have to temporarily under Answering
Calls, at the beginning of this dialog, find the group of radio buttons, and
you have to set it to “Send to Voice Messaging” otherwise, it will be dimmed.
Then, once done, set it back to “Receive Normally” or whatever you had it at
before.
I hope this helps a little at least. :)

Re: Some interesting rumours regarding 3.5 mm jack issue on the iPhone seven

2016-08-31 Thread Mary Otten
Hi Mark,
Of course, only time will tell. But I think you are wrong about the
disappearing headphone jack. For one thing, Samsung put back the storage card
thing, but did not put back the user replaceable battery. Also, if the other
rumor is true, Apple will be including compatible earbuds with the new phone,
as well as an adapter to make it possible for people to use other headphones.
Given the prevalence of Bluetooth these days, I suspect that the headphone jack
will in fact be gone from iPhones forever. Other device makers are already
moving in this direction. So it isn't just Apple. In fact, they will not be the
first ones to market without a headphone jack on the phone.

RE: Some interesting rumours regarding 3.5 mm jack issue on the iPhone seven

2016-08-31 Thread M. Taylor
Well, as for me, I'm going to sit back and see how the market accepts the new
iPhone 7 trans a separate earphone jack.

When Samsung attempted to make its devices thinner by (1) removing the
removable battery and (2) removing the ability to add auxiliary memory to its
flagship phones, it soon reversed its decision as the market, effectively,
rejected the devices in favor of other companies who kept those features.

A couple of years ago, when Apple decided to remove the ability for iOS devices
to have their photo content immediately available to PC users upon attaching
the device to the computer, the marketplace went crazy and vowed to turn to
Android if Apple insisted on forcing people to use iTunes in order to manage
photos.

Like Samsung, Apple immediately reversed itself by restoring this feature in
the subsequent release of iTunes.

So, I'll just wait and see for, unless 7 is a complete hit, something tells me
that iPhone 8 will bring the jack back (smile).

When all the “hubbub” concerning Apple removing the earphone jack first
appeared I was certain they (Apple) was going to provide an adapter so
potential customers would be able to use their existing earphones with the

Re: Apple to Release New MacBook Pro and Air as Early as October, AMD iMacs and 5K Display With LG Also in Works - Mac Rumors

2016-08-31 Thread Scott Granados
Oh they have gotten a lot better. When I was in college years ago I had a
Toshiba that must have weighed 15 pounds and had multiple batteries so I really
shouldn’t complain.

I have a fully loaded MacBook Pro 15 inch which as I said is great power wise
but a little heavy and definitely heats up. I also added an “In Case” hard
shell which adds a little weight but makes things much more solid and prevents
the metal from being scratched.

The 13 inch MacBook pro is the optimal size and weight. If only it had
a bit more power but that’s the trade off I guess.

Yeah, I'm not sure about the function bar. At least it sounds as if some
thought is going in to it's use rather than just something to be new and
gimmicky.

I guess that laptops can't be too light or thin but sometimes it seems to me
that they put esthetics above power and functionality. MBPs are supposed to be
desktop replacements. I think that the Air is an example of where these
compromises were very artfully engineered.
I've carried a 13 around quite a bit without much problem, but I can see how a
15 would be difficult.
In college, I regularly lugged a Del several blocks and that was tuff.

Me either, this is why I could never understand everyone getting their panties

The upsides are far more than any downside. A super durable phone sounds good
to me as an example of an upside.

MacOs inherited from the NeXT systems. I expect that there is a "vi mode still
around somewhere and for those of that persuasion wouldn't it be nice to have
VI commands in textedit and mail composition?

Re: Some interesting rumours regarding 3.5 mm jack issue on the iPhone seven

2016-08-31 Thread Bill Gallik
When all the “hubbub” concerning Apple removing the earphone jack first
appeared I was certain they (Apple) was going to provide an adapter so
potential customers would be able to use their existing earphones with the
iPhone 7. This coming to light does not surprise me in the least.

Re: VoiceOver Accessibility Issues for Blind Users in iOS App

2016-08-31 Thread Jonathan Cohn
That sounds like they switched from a standard button to a custom widget.
In which case, they need to adjust the Accessible Name. though it probably
indicates that they have done additional actions with the widget that would
need to be considered, probably with action a lot like the new Nearby
Explorer app.

Re: Some interesting rumours regarding 3.5 mm jack issue on the iPhone seven

2016-08-31 Thread Scott Granados
There is also an upgraded option now for something called air pods which are
ear pods but wireless. Also, each pod is wireless so no wire behind the head
for stereo, each pod works independently. i’m sort of in to the idea will be
exciting to see what really does surface. It’s pretty much certain though that
the headphone jack is gone. Lots of leaked case designs and prototype pictures
of the phone with nothing but a lightning port and more durable.

VoiceOver Accessibility Issues for Blind Users in iOS App

2016-08-31 Thread Mika Pyyhkala
Hi,

I have noticed over time that the Tile iOS app has become less and
less VoiceOver accessible.

The key issue I am having is each tile name (i.e. backpack, keys,
etc.) is read by VoiceOver as:
txt_tile_name
txt_tile_name
txt_tile_name

Apple has specific programming guidelines for making iOS apps
VoiceOver accessible:
https://developer.apple.com/accessibility/ios

Can you get in contact with your developers and engineering team on this?

Thanks,
Mika Pyyhkala

How to change voicemail greeting in Skype?

Hi all,

Can someone tell me how to do this? I've googled it, but the instructions I

my iPhone, but I can also do it from my Mac if that's easier.
Cheers,

Some interesting rumours regarding 3.5 mm jack issue on the iPhone seven

2016-08-31 Thread Michael Marshall
hey all,
I know there have been many leaks of supposed schematics and things on the new
iPhone seven and if or not it will have a 3.5mm jack.
The latest leak I believe has credence.
In the box with the iPhone seven, you will get a lightning to 3.5 mm adapter
witch is what i guessed apple would do if they did take the jack from the phone.
If this is indeed the case I am quite satisfied because at least they have made
an adapter readily available.

Michael
