Subject: The control-G vm fusion question again

Hi, I wanted to confirm this.

When I run fusion and boot a VM, is it control-G that is supposed to allow me
to gain access to the vm interface? I just get a bonk sound when I press this
combo and nothing happens. In most cases, in full screen mode I can’t enter
the VM and in zoom reduced mode I can but by tabbing past the snapshots button
I will drop in to the vm. Is there a more simple mechanism, do I have the
keystroke wrong? Any pointers would be most appreciated.

Thank you

As you do in the mac os terminal,

It is unix based so tab complete works fine.

With lftp, you get tab completion, so you don't have to type long file names.

RE: iPhone headset recommendations

2016-11-18 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi Janine,

I have the lightening headphones and I can't say I've noticed anything but
then I haven't thought to really concentrate on the audio quality.

But hey can always be a good thing to try.

Also I find my Bose headphones have a bit more base to them. Pricey but may be
worth a look!

I generally really like the Apple earpods and the design is fairly good in my
ears. I am losing some low frequency hearing though and as a good bit of my job
involves phone calls, I need to maximize my listening ability on said phone.
Granted the best headset in the world isn’t going to make someone else’s crappy
cell phone sound any better but at least I can try.

I’m considering buying a pair of the lightning earpods as I hear the base is
fuller on them.

RE: control alt delete and VM Fusion

2016-11-18 Thread Simon Fogarty
Crazy thought here,

If you can get to the vm and then ctrl g to grab the vm screan, can you turn
off vo for the host machine and then see if it gives you keyboard interaction
in the VM

I had this situation with one of my vm’s and turning off vo on the host allowed
me to grab the vm system without issues.

cmd f5 starts VO on the main system.

Scott,
After reading Garry's post. I decided to run into the Fusion
keyboard preferences. I looked at the mappings under a couple of the
tabs. Command-G is a valid command to grab keyboard and mouse from the
Mac. Command-control will ungrab and return control to the Mac.

This is on the latest version of Fusion though still on El Kapitan

When I run fusion and boot a VM, is it control-G that is supposed to

in full screen mode I can’t enter the VM and in zoom reduced mode I
can but by tabbing past the snapshots button I will drop in to the

wrong? Any pointers would be most appreciated.

Hi

Don't know, but do know single user mode is not accessible because VoiceOver is
not loaded in this mode. There might be a way in recovery mode to manage a

Re: control alt delete and VM Fusion

2016-11-18 Thread Garry Turkington
Have you looked at the Fusion keyboard options to see if some of the
default options are causing problems? I don't see the sort of issues
you describe.

One example - in Preferences->Keyboard and Mouse->Mac Host Shortcuts
there's a bunch of default key combos that will be sent to OS X and
not the guest VM. I disabled most of these for a happier life.

Also the out-of-the-box key mapping will map the ctrl and alt keys
to ctrl and option on the Mac keyboard, i.e. the VO keys. I set option
to map to the windows key and command to alt to avoid this issue. If
you have VO running while in the VM this will be a pain otherwise.

Re: Podcasting on the Mac?

2016-11-18 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

Podcast can be created on the Mac with QuickTime and GarageBand which are both
very accessible. The article below outlines things, although it's from a
visual prospective and a little outdated as it refers to an app named Podcast
Capture which is no longer on your Mac. The basics are there though and with a
little investigation, you should be able to do everything you need to make a
quality podcast.

One cool thing bout the Bluez2 is that you can wear them backward and

I've worn my Aftershokz Bluez2 for hours and hours while working in my

are anything like that Bluez 2S, then they will be quite comfy. The sound
quality, well, I agree. There could be some more low in frequencies, but for

also heard way way worse. Trust me.

The Blues are a plastic band. They necessarily have some flex, but I broke at
least 2 pair and one side went out on the third. According to Aftershokz there
was a manufacturing defect that has been corrected since and my wife has a pair
that has held up, but they just sit on the table most of the time. The Trekz
Titanium are actually made of Titanium. I don’t think you could break them if
you tried, and they are lighter and smaller. The neck band is less than 1/4
inches thick. The plastic Blues are considerably wider around the back.

replacing them, but that gets old. The Titaniums are made differently and are
much more durable. I wear mine around the house and leave them on my head all
the time when I go out. You may find them inadequate if you spend time in loud
environments such as a bus, train, or crowded restaurant. Mine shipped with a
pair of ear plugs, which rather defeats the purpose of the headset but is a
good solution if you’re somewhere safe and for the moment don’t need to hear
what’s around you. They are best for their advertised purpose of leaving your
ears open. However, as my wife would tell you, what you are hearing in the
headset will still distract you and possibly cause you to miss what’s going on
around you. That’s a brain issue, and perhaps others’ are better than mine.
If I have to start commuting again, I may prefer something that works better on
the train, but otherwise I love my Aftershokz
and highly recommend them.

With headset that fit into my ear or cover my ears, I either have to use just

OK, in that case, I'd recommend an app called Amadeus Pro.

To learn more about using the app, there's an mp3 tutorial you can get
through

http://www.mosen.org

As you can probably guess, yes, it's by Jonathan Mosen, who I have a huge!
amount of support/respect for! I only try recommending the best to people,
and trust me, his Amadeus Maestro ebook is steller! Very, and I do mean,
very! very! worth the investment!

I’m using a macbook pro, and have no idea what accessible software is out

Thanks in advance.

Can’t you pass control alt delete and other control alt combinations by picking
them from the list under the virtual machine section of the menu bar. Below

Just a possible suggestion all be it a pain.

control alt delete and VM Fusion

2016-11-18 Thread Jonathan Cohn
I generally have VM fusion working fairly well, but keystrokes that involve
control-alt are never very consistent. Sometimes when I use command-G it works
but what is very strange in my view is that sometimes I have to turn numpad
commander on and then control-alt and a numpad key work fine (table navigation
in JAWS and delete commands) at other times I can't get any key combination
that includes control -alt to be passed to my VM. I am thinking of migrating my
vm that contains development environments into a bootcamp partition, but then I
expect I'll have to re-license quite a few things.

I also seem to remember some discussion of forcing an external keyboard to be
exclusively dedicated to the VM are there any official notes on this perhaps? I
wouldn't mind just switching keyboards to switch OS on my system.

Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

This is what I do as well. Also, I think it was Chris Moore who pointed me at
the command control f to go full screen which is working. Big thanks to

leave them on my head all the time when I go out. You may find them
inadequate if you spend time in loud environments such as a bus, train, or
crowded restaurant. Mine shipped with a pair of ear plugs, which rather
defeats the purpose of the headset but is a good solution if you’re
somewhere safe and for the moment don’t need to hear what’s around you.
They are best for their advertised purpose of leaving your ears open.
However, as my wife would tell you, what you are hearing in the headset
will still distract you and possibly cause you to miss what’s going on
around you. That’s a brain issue, and perhaps others’ are better than
mine. If I have to start commuting again, I may prefer something that
works better on the train, but otherwise I love my Aftershokz and highly
 recommend them.

It’s also very scriptable. You can automate the entire process, put it in Cron
and set a lot of things up with 0 user intervention. Of course, the original
poster wanted something graphical so this isn’t it but yes I’m with you love
the flexibility of the CLI.

Re: Aftershockz bluez 2s headset

2016-11-18 Thread Larry Thacker Jr.
I don’t notice any real difference there, but i have not had that problem. I
have them on some days for hours at a time. They do come in different sizes,
though at this moment I can’t get the web site to show me anything but
“regular”. Music is passable on them but you’ll probably never get audiophile
satisfying quality from this technology. Mostly I use mine for interacting
with the phone and for books.

Based on some things I have read, and having worked in the industry 15 years
ago, my bet is Apple had a supplier have difficulties procuring enough of a
necessary component. rumor has it that we should start seeing product trickle
in next month. Apple does not usually place blame on suppliers. In fact, they
are famous for being closed mouthed. I hope the product comes sooner rather
than later.

Re: Aftershockz bluez 2s headset

2016-11-18 Thread Gilland Marketing
from what I hear, the headset is actually very very comfortable. I have a
couple of friends, of which I know at least one is on this list. They have this
headset, and swear by it. Ben, can you chime in here? I can see this. If they
are anything like that Bluez 2S, then they will be quite comfy. The sound
quality, well, I agree. There could be some more low in frequencies, but for
what it's worth, it sounds really good. i've definitely heard better, but I've
also heard way way worse. Trust me.

Chris.

2016-11-18 Thread Gilland Marketing
hello Simon.

I don't think that Apple is saying anything more than what we already know.
They're being quite hushed on the situation. I agree with you that this is very
annoying!

I do not even think that they have given us an ETA as to when they will be
available.

Chris.

A friend is unable to login to his Mac after his local Apple store reset
it. He thinks they left the user account set up which he cannot log into.

While googling, I find articles about Single User Mode. Is this accessible?
Or is there anther way he can change that account or create his own? He is new
to the Mac so may be willing to sacrifice what he had already done and begin
fresh.

ET would this friend by any chance be in the region of NZ?

I've agot a similar issue at this end with a Kiwi user and yes is the answer
to resetting a admin password.

If it is who I'm thinking of then have them contact me via NZ posting as I've
already advised this user and I can assist with it

Hi

Don't know, but do know single user mode is not accessible because VoiceOver is
not loaded in this mode. There might be a way in recovery mode to manage a
locked account. For example in Terminal you can type resetpassword press return
and you can reset the password for the local account.

Re: The control-G vm fusion question again

2016-11-18 Thread Garry Turkington
I use Fusion with multiple VMs every day and I don't have an issue
reliably getting input captured by the VM.

What I do is use VO to move right along the buttons on the VM
interface. After the "full screen" button I get the name of the VM
read out and when focus is on that any keystrokes go to the VM which
then captures input. I use this method on both Windows and Linux VMs.

This is on the latest version of Fusion though still on El Kapitan
because I don't have time to work out the whole Seil/Caribener thing
in Sierra yet.

Hi, I wanted to confirm this.

When I run fusion and boot a VM, is it control-G that is supposed to
allow me to gain access to the vm interface? I just get a bonk
sound when I press this combo and nothing happens. In most cases,
in full screen mode I can’t enter the VM and in zoom reduced mode I
can but by tabbing past the snapshots button I will drop in to the
vm. Is there a more simple mechanism, do I have the keystroke
wrong? Any pointers would be most appreciated.
