Re: Naming Your Personal Digital Assistant

2017-01-28 Thread Shawn Krasniuk
Hi Mark. I can only think of one name. There's this sportscaster on a channel
here in Canada called Roger's Sportsnet who I have a deep crush on named
Sophia. So I'd probably name my AI after her. Lol.

Naming Your Personal Digital Assistant

2017-01-28 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Everyone,

As some of you know, there are plans in the works to allow some popular
digital assistants to respond to custom named prompts.

While, as far as I know anyway, Apple as not yet disclosed plans to allow
for this, it is my hope that someday, they will.

So, I was just thinking about what name I would like to use for Siri, were I
given the option. Hence, the subject of this thread.

Of course, being a lifelong Star Trek fan, my first inclination would be to
set my trigger word to "Computer"; as in, "Computer, cancel my appointment
with Oprah for tomorrow." (smile)

However, as I began to think about it, I decided that perhaps, just perhaps,
the word "Computer", may not be the best choice, in the long run.

So, I came up with three names that I would like to use for my AI or
personal digital assistant with one runner-up. They are:

1.
Christine.

2.
Maggie,.

3.
Cecil.

Runner-up: Bobby.

(Big Smile)

Okay, it's your turn, please reply with your 3 top choices for your AI, were
you given the option.

I look forward to reading all your replies,

Mark

Re: Syncing tones

2017-01-28 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

Do you know how long this tone is? Ring Tones can be up to 40 seconds long,
Text Tones up to 30 seconds. So any tone you have that is less than 30 seconds
should be able to be used both as a phone ring tone or as an incoming text tone.

Re: Problem with iCloud mail on iMac

2017-01-28 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

On the iMac, in System Preferences, in Internet Accounts:

1. Select your iCloud account from the table.
2. Is Mail one of the services checked?

Also, in Mail Prefs, under the Accounts tab:

1. Make sure "Enable this Account" is checked.
2. In the Status area, does it read On-Line and Available?
3. Under the eMail pop-up, does it have all your aliases listed?

There's nothing particularly fancy that you need to do when setting up iCloud
iMap accounts, it's very painless and rather automatic as long as you enter the
right credentials. If worse comes to worse, you can disable the Mail service
part of your iCloud account from within Internet Accounts or from within the
iCloud pane of System Prefs. Disabling it should not cause you to lose
anything as the messages and such should be stored in iCloud itself. Close
System Prefs, then go back into System Prefs and re-e-enable it once again.
See if they start populating again.

Later...

Re: Syncing tones

2017-01-28 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

It's possible to set the Ring Tone to be the default text tone or even to set
it only for specific people. To set it as the default, go into to Settings,
Sound and double-tap on the Text Tone button then choose the tone you want. If
you wish it specifically for a certain contact, then go into Contacts, locate
the contact you wish this tone applied to, double-tap on that contact,
double-tap the Edit button and swipe until you find the Text Tone button.
Double-tap this button and find this tone to apply it.

Re: Turning Off Up next in Itunes

2017-01-28 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

I don't believe that you can turn that off. "Up Next" is simply a system by
which you can either know what song/s are coming up, or you can intervene and
tell it to play something else. In a matter of speaking, iTunes is already
playing what you want it to play. What I mean by this is, for example, if you
start playing music from a playlist, or the main library, iTunes will play the
songs in the order you have them listed in the playlist unless you tell it to
shuffle the order. So, If you wish the songs to play within a specific order,
then you should put them in that order in the playlist.

HTH.

Turning Off Up next in Itunes

2017-01-28 Thread Lee Jones
Dear List, is it possible to turn off up next in itunes. I just want it to play
what I tell it to play, and don’t want it to keep playing what it thinks I want
it to play.

Many Thanks,Lee
