Re: Incredible PBX and Bria or other sip phone apps.

2017-03-14 Thread Scott Granados
First, yes, Bria can be running in the background and you can receive calls.
It will pop up like google voice or other apps when you receive a call. You
can accept or block and so forth with the commands available in the popup.

Keepalives are used to keep a path open used in combination with SIP arg and
NAT. Pretty much your defaults should do the trick.

Re: Vmware makes me frustrated.

2017-03-14 Thread Scott Granados
When you first build the virtual machine, build it with out a password, use the
quick wizard in vmfusion to configure. This is where you add your username and
key. Don’t define a password and it will automatically built with the
administrative user you create. Once up and running then add a password once
Jaws or your screen reader of choice is configured to start at login.

Hope that helps.

Saving Files in Text Edit

2017-03-14 Thread Kat DeNicola
There is probably a simple answer to this that I knew at one time, but my
brain is fried, and I need to work with someone on it tomorrow. So... When
you save a file in text edit, how do you find the specific folder where you
want to save it instead of the folders it suggests in the popup area? I
know there's a sidebar, but I'm not seeing how changing the selection in
one affects the other. I usually just save the file in the folder it
defaults to and then move the file later, but I think my client would
rather avoid that extra step if she can.
Thanks for any help.

SO here goes.
When i start windows i hear the startup sound and then i go into fullscreen

I now try to start narrator but it does not work.
I only have the built-in device availlable so it can’t be connected to some

I am not sure if i first come to the login screen.
ANd if i should type my name and password or only password.
Its a bit frustrating as i need windows for some tasks i can’t do on the mac

Re: Creating email folders and labels

2017-03-14 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Redirect is like a forward but instead of encapsulating the message in a new
message the redirect-to: and redirect-from mail headers are added. This is not
used much these days, but would be useful for example if you wanted to forward
all messages from John Smith from your personal e-mail to your work e-mail. A
significant advantage of redirecting is that reply will still work correctly.

Best wishes,

Re: USB Drive Enclosure

2017-03-14 Thread jeff `greene
Hi Just putting in my two cents here. I've gone through many $10 to
$20 usb drive enclosures only to find that after a year or so they are
dead. I bought one from OWC called something like Newer Tech. Its a
little bigger than your usual 2.5" enclosure but its brilliant! You
move a switch on one end, which opens a swinging door, just drop in
your drive (7mm up to 12.5mm thick) and close the door and it just
works! It costs about $99 if its still available on macsales.com. Also
its really fast on usb 3.0 and the whole enclosure is aluminum. Also
if you're looking for thunderbolt macsales.com is probably your best
bet too, followed by lacie.com. Although not sure if lacie sells
enclosures.

Look in the accounts area of Mail settings. In there is a tab called Account
Info, check what the download attachments setting is set to, it might be that
Mail isn't trying to download the full message until you open it.

Re: Creating email folders and labels

2017-03-14 Thread Traci Duncan
I’m making them on my Mac. Do you happen to know what the rule redirect means?
I’m wondering the difference between move and redirect.

I think I’ll delete the rule I created and start over. The first go round, did
help me clean up my inbox, which was greatly needed. ;)

Maybe creating a new rule with an empty inbox will make the difference.
Otherwise, I’ll just log onto gMail on the web.

Thanks,

Odd mail behaviour.

2017-03-14 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hi!
I actually have come across a strange thing when scrolling through e-mails.
This is on my macbook air 11 inch.
All of a sudden some mails take forever for voiceover to read.
Doing an arrow up to the previous mail makes voiceover normal speaking again.
But as i press the down arrow it wont say the subject of the mail of this
particular mail and when i press control j it says in text and does not read
the mail.
It does not react when moving the arrow keys.
Its hard for me to explain this as i miss the words in english to clarify.
My mail is set to classic view and no threading here as i don’t like that.
Any thoughts?

Re: Copying an excel file from 1 computer to another

2017-03-14 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

It doesn't sound to me like it's the moving process that's causing the problem.
First thing that comes to mind is if you have the Numbers app on the Mini? Is
the document saved with the extension visible? That is, does it read as
document_Name.Numbers, or just document_name? If the latter, navigate to the
file, press cmd-i to Get Info on it and locate the Hide Extension checkbox and
uncheck it. Just making sure that the Mini believes it to be a Numbers
document.

We can do more after we determine these.

Re: USB Drive Enclosure

2017-03-14 Thread 'Chris Blouch' via MacVisionaries
Faster has some caveats. What kind of drive are you putting in that
case? If it's some kind of spinning disk then USB3 will probably keep up
just fine. Those can hit 120-180MB/s, well below USB3's theoretical max
of 640MB/s. Thunderbolt 2, by specs, is four times faster than USB3 but
more expensive. If you are putting in a spinning disk that can't
saturate a USB3 connection then Thunderbolt isn't going to make it any
faster. Probably the only use case where Thunderbolt would matter is on
some kind of drive array or speedy flash drive.

And cheap becomes expensive. Thanks for the recommendation. I added the
USB 3 model to my wish list on Amazon. Nut sure yet what I will do as the
current data now exceeds the old drive.

That should be your high-water mark. You can find tons of cases on
Amazon for $10 from companies you never heard of, so who knows if they
are any good. Still, USB cases are a commodity so you might just take
a chance on one and see what happens, especially if you already have
Prime. Here is a random USB 2.0 2.5" case from "Orico" for $8:

Hope this helps.

Longest flight Ive taken was Miami to Dubai but it was a fun flight because I
was helping pick up a 747 cargo plane. My friend was the pilot and I got to
tag along.

Most luxurious commercial flight was San Francisco to Dubai on Emirate Air.

I have downgraded to an Iphone 4 S which i don’t recommend if
 you’re used to something faster.
But it works so thats not a problem.
