Braille issue on Mac.

2018-11-29 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hi!
There seems to be a braille issue when reading with my Helptech Basic braille
40.
THe bug seems to appear when reading on the web and in mail.
It seems that the braille table is automatically changed while i read on a
webpage.
It changes from swedish to english or american english.
I want the braille to be percistant at swedish grade 1 and not change to US
english grade 1.
It doesn’t matter if i read a swedish or english document on the web or in mail.
I have to digg more into this but are there other not native english who have
this problem?
/A

Have you checked your vm settings or config to make sure you have an audio
device installed to your vm for audio to be heard.

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is always required but by using a USB audio device, I was
able to get screen reader audio to work on the VMs. This doesn't seem like I
should have to do this but so far at least the VMs are now usable.

Hi,

A new wrinkle has emerged here. I am curious if anyone else is experiencing
this.

I used an ISO from Windows 10 version 1809 to create my virtual machine.
Sound for the VM in general is working. However, Narrator text to speech does
not seem to work correctly.

I can play music or other audio from the VM and it plays fine. In addition,
when Narrator is running, I hear the sounds Narrator makes just not the speech.

I haven't tried other TTS, such as Eloquence with JAWS yet and am also
following up with Narrator contacts.

This solution fixed at least getting the program launched. I had to
going to privacy and then accessibility and indicate that I wanted to allow
VMware to control my computer. Then when I launched VMware fusion, I had to go
allow the extension.

I am creating my first virtual machine so we'll see how that goes.
Again thank you to everyone who replied here.

RE: VMWare Fusion Question or Two

2018-11-29 Thread Kelly Ford
The plot thickens! Audio from JAWS and NVDA also does not work, although music

Anyone who has resolved this sort of situation, any thoughts on what to try are
appreciated.

Hi,

A new wrinkle has emerged here. I am curious if anyone else is experiencing
this.

I used an ISO from Windows 10 version 1809 to create my virtual machine. Sound
for the VM in general is working. However, Narrator text to speech does not
seem to work correctly.

I had to going
to privacy and then accessibility and indicate that I wanted to allow VMware to
control my computer. Then when I launched VMware fusion, I had to go allow the
extension.

I am creating my first virtual machine so we'll see how that goes.
Again thank you to everyone who replied here.

Good evening, word can produce high-quality documents. If you need a natively
done Microsoft Word document it would be advisable and cost-effective for you
to use office 365. It is completely compatible with the Mac I use it
personally, and I’ve had no problems.

Although pages does right in word format it is not completely the word format.
There are some slight differences. I hope this addresses your question?

RE: What Iphone to chooce?

2018-11-29 Thread Matthew Horspool
Hi Simon,

That's an excellent point about no 3D Touch on the XR – I'd forgotten about
that! I should stress that this is just to do with pressing down on the screen,
though – the rest of the haptic stuff is there.

To be honest, the lack of a home button is probably an advantage rather than a
disadvantage at this point. I can't see Apple ever reintroducing it, so if
you're going to be re-learning iOS anyway, you might as well start as you mean
to go on.

However, note that the iPhone XR feels, at least to me, significantly larger
than the iPhone 8. This is balanced out by the fact that it has a better
battery. I'm afraid I can hardly get a whole day out of my iPhone 8.

Matthew

Anders,

Is screen / picture quality an issue for you?

If not then take the iPhone XR, they have shown to have better battery life
than all other iPhones currently that includes the 8's and the newer XS range.

The processor is better and the screen is slightly larger, If screen is
something you want then the 8 and 8Plus have better screen resolution Otherwise
there isn't a lot and either way your going to get a great device, The 8 will
give you 3d touch which the xr wont. The 8 has a home button the xr doesn't.

The xr should have esim abilitys next year.

So in other words, it’s a case of what do you need and what do you want?

Either way they are good devices the xr will just last slightly longer.

Kelly,

Did you check under Narrator settings to make sure that the checkbox involving
lowering the volume of other apps isn’t checked? That may be why other app
sounds aren’t being heard.

Also, I’m still on 1803 but want to go up to 1809, but whenever I check for
updates on either of my two computers, they keep telling me Windows is
up-to-date. How did you get the 1809 ISO?

Re: VMWare Fusion Question or Two

2018-11-29 Thread kelly ford
Hi,

A new wrinkle has emerged here. I am curious if anyone else is experiencing
this.

I used an ISO from Windows 10 version 1809 to create my virtual machine. Sound
for the VM in general is working. However, Narrator text to speech does not
seem to work correctly.

I can play music or other audio from the VM and it plays fine. In addition,
when Narrator is running, I hear the sounds Narrator makes just not the speech.

I haven't tried other TTS, such as Eloquence with JAWS yet and am also
following up with Narrator contacts.

Thank you for this information. Also, thank you to others who replied.

This solution fixed at least getting the program launched. I had to going
to privacy and then accessibility and indicate that I wanted to allow VMware to
control my computer. Then when I launched VMware fusion, I had to go allow the
extension.

I am creating my first virtual machine so we'll see how that goes.
Again thank you to everyone who replied here.

Good morning, I might have an idea as to what your problem might be.
Are you running OS X Mojave? Just salute you know if you are running
the current version of VMware, you have to go into system preferences
and make sure that in the privacy and/or security settings that VMware
is permitted to access those resources a.k.a. the extension for VMware
needs to be allowed to run. If the item is not chocked your Mac forbids
the program to be run because did use it as a potential security risk
when it is not. Give that a shot? And I think your problem will
hopefully go away.

Sincerely Maurice Mines.
