Re: mac book pro 2017

2019-06-08 Thread 'Janina Sajka' via MacVisionaries
So, I've been playing pretending I didn't have the boot chime and simply
holding in option for a longish time while pressing the power button
second.

I still want the chime, but I can see making it without it. I can
reliably get to all three of my available environments.

I'd go for the greater processing power of the I7. In the grand scheme
of things, that's a steal for only $50, because you get to live with the
benefits for a long time.

At the moment, you can’t. Or at least, VoiceOver does not tell you the state
whether the folder is checked or unchecked. Please report it to the dropbox
support so perhaps they will actually do something about it. They definitely
are aware. That has been broken for quite awhile.

RE: Map bug on iPhone

2019-06-08 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Robert,

I assure you that I, too, experience this same issue. It has been around for
the longest time.

However, a little bird, from the Apple orchard, sent me an email, a couple of
days ago, stating that this glitch should be resolved in iOS13 and that I
should update my bug report on it, once confirmed.

As yet, I have not downloaded a beta of iOS13 to confirm the claim, but we can
certainly keep our proverbial fingers crossed, eh?

Happy Travels,

iOS 11 Maps App Card Grabber TimeOut VoiceOver Bug

DESCRIPTION:
In iOS 11, only when VoiceOver is enabled, the full-screen Card Grabber
display, times-out after 10 seconds, when reviewing the live route details
list.

Steps to Reproduce:

1.
Make certain that VoiceOver is enabled.

2.
Open Map and activate a route by selecting a destination and tapping the GO
button. Siri will announce a direction instruction; for example, "In one
mile, turn left onto Main Street."

3.
Single-finger, double-tap the "Arrival" label, located near the lower left
of the display in order to activate the Card Grabber which will bring up
various route options.

4.
Select Details. A directions list will be displayed. Unlike for a
non-VoiceOver user, for whom this list will remain on the screen until the
DONE button is activated, after approximately ten seconds with or without
screen activity, the list will disappear as if the VoiceOver user activated
the DONE button.

Please check this out.

Thank You,
Robert Cole

Dictation feature on the Mac

2019-06-08 Thread Phil Halton

I’m using High Sierra on a Mac and I’m having a lot of trouble with the
dictation feature. I have enable dictation, and I have also enabled the
commanders feature where you can issue a command by saying computer select acts
etc. I’ve been shut off the commands feature and now when I dictate the system
seems to confuse what I’m dictating with a command and it gives me the swish
sound it says the command failed. I cannot seem to disassociate dictation from
issuing the commands. Is anybody using this feature with any success? Also, I
know that hitting the function key twice initiates dictation, and gives a bell
sound, but how exactly do you shut off dictation? I would assume it’s hitting
the function key twice again, but it doesn’t give any indication that dictation
has been shut off. Any help appreciated Sent from my IPhone

RE: Message Filters

2019-06-08 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hey there Janina,

It's changed in a big way.

If your talking about the edge from windows 10 then forget it,
The new version has to my knowledge not yet been released unless others have it
from windows 10 19/03
This new version is chrome with Microsoft branding.

Simon, You're describing my sure method for identifying when I've become
seriously comfortable with a particular piece of software.

Example: When I start issuing Lynx keystrokes while using Firefox, that tells
me I've gotten pretty comfortable with Firefox.

My biggest problem with Edge is that I've been avoiding it recently. I grew
alergic to it because it was pushing far too many ads at me. I will doubtless
give it another go at some point.

RE: mac book pro 2017

2019-06-08 Thread Simon Fogarty
Na,

I've made up my mind as to which one to get.

And then cancelled at the last moment the choice I made.
I've got a choice of 2 machines,
The only difference is one has the I7 2.5GHz processor
an the other has the I5 2.3GHz processor,
other than that, they are the pro 13.3" with 16GB ram,
512GB ssd,
Although one is release date 2017,
The other is new as of purchase time.
There is only $50 for the upgrade to the I7.

Simon, it sounds to me like you're weighing the trade-offs with a clear head.
Good luck! I expect a few of us will be interested to hear what you decide and
how it works out.

Simon, You're describing my sure method for identifying when I've become
seriously comfortable with a particular piece of software.

Example: When I start issuing Lynx keystrokes while using Firefox, that
tells me I've gotten pretty comfortable with Firefox.

My biggest problem with Edge is that I've been avoiding it recently. I
grew alergic to it because it was pushing far too many ads at me. I will
doubtless give it another go at some point.

Using selective sync in dropbox?

2019-06-08 Thread Matt

Hi folks.

I've been trying to figure this out.

On the windows side of dropbox, you can check, and uncheck, the folders
you don't want synced to your computer.

I can't seem to figure out how to do this on the mac side.

Playing the King's corner on Ios 12

2019-06-08 Thread Ramy Moustafa Saber رامي مصطفى صابر
Hi:

I had the King’s corner game from many years, but i decided to play just
yesterday, do not know if i forgot something, but the cards are not movable, i
hit double tab on a card and try to move it, VO tells me the Distination card,
but leaving my card did not move the card on it. did the accessibility broken
or what?
I have the latest version, on Ios 12.3.31
Thanks in advance
