Re: Struggling with some Big Sur navigation

2020-11-30 Thread 'Shawn Krasniuk' via MacVisionaries
Hi Tracy. For your apps that can push notifications, are the notifications
showing up as banners or are they showing up as alerts? All of my apps are set
to banners and I don't lose focus at all. You can check this by going to System
Preferences/Notification Center.

Thank you very much, I found it, I tried out the earbuds and they work just
fine. Of course I did not try them with zoom but as soon as I have the meeting
I will do so. I’m sure everything will work out just fantastically

2020-11-30 Thread FIOGKOS
Thank you very much Herbie, this helps very much. I did test out zoom on the
iPhone with a friend and I could not hear his voice over or he could not hear
mine. So it looks like problem solved at least on the iPhone I will try it also
on the Mac and windows when I have a chance. I have a feeling that all is OK.
Do you know the key command for raising your hand on both the Mac and windows?
Thank you for all your help.

Re: Desperate for help with zoom

2020-11-30 Thread Jonathan C. Cohn
The headphones that come with a inPhone depend on which iPhone you have. Newer
inPhIphones come with a headphones that have a lightning connector and no
computer has a lightning socket.
Most imacs have a 3.5 jack that will work with older iPhone deadphones.

Re: Desperate for help with zoom

2020-11-30 Thread FIOGKOS
No braille display here, that wouldn’t work for me then. Most people seem to
agree that wearing headphones will prevent the other participants from hearing
voiceover. So I think that if I use my earbuds I will be OK just need to figure
out navigation now and if anybody can recommend some essential key commands
that would be great.

Re: Struggling with some Big Sur navigation

2020-11-30 Thread 'Andrew Lamanche' via MacVisionaries
Traci, Big sur in some ways makes things more difficult and harder to perform.
I have noticed it too: more interactions, not being able to jump to relevant
places on the screen quickly enough. I don’t understand the concept of
collections. Notifications are tricky to work out. I have learnt that you
need to use vo+command+spacebar to activate choices in notifications if you
want to dismiss them.

I’m sorry I can’t be of more help. Please report to Apple.

Sharing on Facebook with Big Sur?

2020-11-30 Thread Traci Duncan
Hi, how do I get Facebook in the sharing extension? I’ve been googling with no
answers.

A side note, so far navigating FB in Safari is pretty nice. Different heading
levels are helpful. I’m going to look and see if there are keyboard shortcuts.

Thanks for the help,
Traci

Re: Desperate for help with zoom

2020-11-30 Thread Herbie Allen
The respective screen readers are good about giving commands when you tab to an
action. For instance, Command shift A for muting and unmuting on Mac, Alt A for
Windows. As for Screen Readers, headphones is the best way to go if on a
computer, but the phone is fine provided you don’t have the original sound
turned on. If you are wanting to share your jaws or Vo on the computer this can
be done via the screen sharing and checking the audio option.

Hi everybody, I really really need help. I got zoom installed on my Mac, my
iPhone, and my windows laptop. There are conflicting reports whether voiceover
or jaws on the window side can be heard while you are attending eight zoom
meeting. Some people have told me headphones wipes out voiceover and some
disagree. One I’m not very familiar with the keyboard commands for any of the
devices, if I were to turn voiceover off and use keyboard shortcut keys for an
muting myself, muting myself, allowing my video or not allowing my video,
raising my hand, and sending messages would that work? Of course another way
that logic says will work is to mute my microphone press the key command that I
want for example raise hand, or type a message, and then unmute myself. If any
of this makes sense can anybody send me a zoom shortcut commands that I can
use. The meeting I have to attend is tomorrow is there a test meeting that you
can do by yourself to see how things work
Thank you for any help in advance.

Good morning, at least it is here on the West Coast of the United

solve it? I am wanting to virtualize my windows. This I think would make

Just for the record, I am running Mac OS Big Sur. Which is the reason

Struggling with some Big Sur navigation

2020-11-30 Thread Traci Duncan
Hi all, I am having a hard time with a few differences in Big Sur.

Collections. Is there an easier Voiceover way to navigate these? I’m finding
them everywhere: news, App Store, messages. Is VO-j the best way? It seems like
I need to interact several times to get into the content. Any advice on this?

Notifications. Notifications seem to take Voiceover’s focus. I was on Safari,
and Messages, when notifications came through. I could not get Voiceover’s
focus to automatically return to the apps I was originally in. I had to
VO-shift-d to focus on desktop, then return to my other apps. Is there
something I’m missing here?

Lastly, VO-f search. Are you guys experiencing odd behavior when you perform a
Voiceover search? I can be in a webpage and search for a word. The first result
works fine, but then Voiceover’s focus changes with subsequent results. Like it
gets stuck in the sentences where the searched word is. I used to be able to
navigate a webpage via searching for a particular word. How is this working for
you guys?

Thanks, I’m just not finding Big Sur seamless so far.

Traci

Re: Mac Mail on Big Sur

True, but this changes the displayed layout of the selected mailbox. This does
not resolve the issue.

I am also experiencing this issue.
This seems to occur only on items that are not “unread” in the mailbox list.
I have gone to VoiceOver Utility > Verbosity > Speech, and have attempted to
make adjustments in the Custom Verbosity Table, but have not been successful in
modifying this behavior.

This may be something we just have to live with in Big Sur.
