I found that the way to get past that message about not having permission was
to swipe to the log in button, double tap and then log in and then go back to
the email, click again on the link and now I get an option to sign up to the
group!

You don’t have permission to access this content. You can try logging in, but
to do that, you must already be subscribed. I really don’t like Google. It’s
too bad we can’t go to groups.io.

I know this list is primarily for the Mac but we also sometimes talk about
other products from Apple. Hoping this helps someone out there that may have
found themselves in the same situation I was in. I recently bought an Apple TV
with a new Siri remote. I didn't really like the touch gestures in that you
have to do them in this ring. So I turn touch off which led me to a new problem
how can I close apps in the app switcher? When pulling up the app switcher by
pressing the home button twice on the remote voiceover still indicates that you
have to use the rotor and flick up from actions of course since you've disable
touch this does not work. What does work though is just pressing up twice on
the circle pad. It closes apps fine. I'm wondering why Apple doesn't actually
indicate this to you when you change that setting as voiceover should be able
to detect if touch is off? Anyway hope this helps have a great day everyone!

It would probably be less costly to run your own e-mail server and host the
list there. My personal e-mail is on a server that I manage, hosted at

HI All,

Just as a general reply, Mark and I will definitely see what we can do to try
to figure out what is going on.

My sincere apologies for the inconvenience.

As I said, we are still considering moving the list but we have more research
to do.

Just to give you an idea, at present with our current list membership, Groups
IO would charge us approx. $1200 per year to host VIPhone there and this goes
up as more folks join. I’m really not wanting to ask for donations so while the
cost is not prohibitive, we’d certainly love something a bit cheaper with a
decent feature set if we can get it. :)

It would also take quite a while to add everyone as Groups IO has more
stringent limits on how many people can directly be added / invited each day.

Lastly, I’ve sent their customer service a note several days ago now and still
have not seen a response.

So right now, Google is still the best option in the short-term until we find a
better solution. Trust me, we are still looking! :)

Anyway, thanks to you all and once again, Mark and I will look into these
issues ya’ll are seeing and see what we can do.

Please have a great weekend and please do feel free to direct any more
questions or issues you’re finding directly to me or Mark. This way we should
see them a bit faster.

Thanks so much!

Cheers!

Re: Moderator Note - The Next Generation of VIPhone

2022-01-28 Thread Karen Lewellen
I will add that previously one could subscribe via e-mail instead of
visiting the google groups site at all.
I am guessing this is gone, especially given google's desire to track
everyone these days.

would freelists.org be a possibility?

You don’t have permission to access this content. You can try logging in, but
to do that, you must already be subscribed. I really don’t like Google. It’s

Hi!
It helps a bit.
I don’t know if one can tell accessibility about it.
I guess its more a edge or chrome issue.

Re: Apple Mail Question

2022-01-28 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Hello,
I was going to suggest using a voiceOver search or the item chooser to find any
collapsed item in the mailbox list, but I can't get this to work on my system
running MacOS 12.2. Anybody out there running MacOS 12.1 who can test?

1. press VO-J until in the Mailbox list.
2. press VO-I tobring up item chooser.
3. type cloud

When I did this, I expected to find my iCloud folder, but only found messages.
Strange.

Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

Re: Microsoft edge has new window.

2022-01-28 Thread Jonathan Cohn
When I hear this message in Firefox it seems to be when a tool tip is being
displayed. You might be able to reduce the occurrence by turning off mouse
follows VoiceOver cursor in VoiceOver Utility. This should at least cut back
on onHover events.
HTH!

Discovered something I hadn't found online recently on my Apple TV

2022-01-28 Thread joseph hodge

Re: Apple Pay

2022-01-28 Thread joseph hodge
I asked my sister this yesterday because she works for Walmart in their
Internet portion and it’s still that way here. The crazy thing for me is that
she told me in their stores they are literally using iPhones to do their
stocking of shelves now they no longer use separate scanners. So I love the
hypocrisy that they’re using here and that we can use iPhones for scanning in
our products but we can’t use iPhones for Apple Pay. The crazier part to me is
that ultimately they’re putting the scanning of products in for inventory on
the workers requiring them to use their own cell phone. She wasn’t clear of
android had scanning apps I assume they do she only knew about iPhone having
them.

Target also provides free Aira access, which also is not provided at

Re: Microsoft edge has new window.

2022-01-28 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hi Dave!
Actually I haven’t tried that yet.
But I will see if I can get to a table to test.
I guess I have to live with the message that pops up every now and then.
