Re: Email Conversation with Attachment?

2022-02-18 Thread Herbie Allen
The thread will always display the newest message first and go down to the
oldest. The message with an attachment should say the word attachment in
front of the message.

Set Up Your iPhone's Built-In Two-Factor Authenticator to Better Protect Your Accounts, C Net

2022-02-18 Thread M. Taylor
Set Up Your iPhone's Built-In Two-Factor Authenticator to Better Protect
Your Accounts

You don't need a third-party authentication app to better protect your
precious accounts with 2FA.
Andrew Hoyle/CNET
Feb. 17, 2022 4:30 a.m. PT

Protect all of your accounts with a second layer of security on your iPhone
and iPad.
One of the best ways to protect your accounts from hackers -- aside from a
complicated and lengthy password -- is to enable two-factor authentication.
2FA, as the extra protection is commonly known, adds another layer of
security to your account by requiring you to verify your identity -- via
text, email or otherwise -- in addition to your password.

Although text message is by far the most popular method for verifying your
identity, authentication apps such as Google Authenticator are preferred
because they're more secure (it's easier for attackers to spoof your text
messages remotely).

However, if you're an iPhone user, you don't have to download any
third-party apps to get better 2FA protection for your accounts. Thanks to
iOS 15, Apple now has a built-in authenticator to help secure any websites
and apps that support the feature.

And if you're interested in better protecting your accounts, check out the
best password managers to use for 2022 and how to transfer your Google
Authenticator accounts if you've bought a new phone.

How to set up iOS 15's built-in two-factor authentication feature
To start, launch the Settings application on your iPhone and go into
Passwords. Use Face or Touch ID to access your passwords and then tap on
whatever account it is you want to set up 2FA for.

Note: This method of two-factor authentication does not work with every
website or app.

Next, tap Set Up Verification Code and a menu will appear with two options:
. Enter Setup Key
. Scan QR Code

These are your two options to set up 2FA, which you can find on the website
of whichever account you're attempting to secure. To continue, go to the
website, use your credentials to log in and then go into the website's
account settings. There is no single place where you'll find the setup key
or QR code for 2FA, but generally you should find them in "passwords" or
"two-factor authentication."

For this example, we'll be using the setup key found in the account settings
on Mega's website.

If you see a setup key, simply copy it to your clipboard, and then go back
to the Settings app on your iPhone and choose the Enter Setup Key option.
Next, paste in the setup key and then hit OK. Once you do, a verification
code will appear.
Go back to the website you grabbed the setup key from and enter the
verification code to enable 2FA. You don't have to manually enter the setup
key, as it should appear at the top of your keyboard, so you can just tap
there to enter it. However, you must be quick to enter the setup key because
it'll change every 30 seconds.

If you use the Scan QR Code option, the process will pretty much be the
same, but instead of entering the setup key manually, you'll simply scan the
QR code with your smartphone's camera. However, this option may not be ideal
if you're doing everything on your smartphone, so really only use this if
you're accessing the website on another device.

Once you're finished, two-factor authentication should be enabled for that
website. Anytime you log in to that website in the future, you'll be asked
to enter a verification code as well, which will be generated by the
built-in feature.

Custom Verbosity Table in Voiceover Utility?

2022-02-18 Thread Fazil M.
Hi, Group.

What does Custom Verbosity Table do in the Voiceover Utility Category,
Speech?

When I interact with this table, I just find the name of different controls.
Can I customize these controls in any way? If yes, how can I do that,
please?

Thanks!

Re: speaker phone

Hi,

thanks for this advice. I didn’t know about the audio settings under vo. I
did try both things you suggested and it’s still not going to speaker when I
take it away from my head.

My next thing is to update the thing and see if that works.

Thanks,

Re: Query with photos.

2022-02-18 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

If these photos are all in the same album, then,

• open the Photos app.
• double-tap the Albums tab along the bottom of the screen.
• double-tap the desired album.
• near the top, double-tap the Select button.
• move through the photos and double-tap the six that are to be eMailed.
• down near the bottom, double-tap the Share button.
• select Mail from the given choices.
• enter the recipient and double-tap the Send button.

If they are not in the same album, then they need to be selected from whatever
location they happen to be, such as a specific date etc. If the files are too
big, they may be asked to use MailDrop. Also, iPhone photos are now in HEIC
format, so if the other user is not an Apple user, they may not be able to open
them. Alternatively, one can create a Shared Album if the recipient is also an
Apple user which would eliminate the need to eMail, message or such things.
With the Shared Album, they could share photos between the two of them without
ever needing to eMail each other.

HTH.

Later…

Re: speaker phone

2022-02-18 Thread Pete De Vasto
Hi Cait,

Go to Voiceover Settings, and under Audio, make sure that Auto Select Speaker
in Call is set to On. Once that’s on, you should be able to move the phone away
from your head and hear it through the speaker. If that doesn’t help, you might
try turning your phone completely off, by that I mean pressing and holding the
power button for a few seconds and double tapping power off, then turn the
phone back on after waiting about 10 or 20 seconds.

Good afternoon everyone!

My friend in Australia Chris Graham wants to select six photos from his
collection and send them by Email as one message.

Is this possible? If yes, how does he achieve this on the iPhone?

Thanks very much, any responses would be appreciated!

Super Agent for Safari on Mac

2022-02-18 Thread Paul Hopewell
Hello,
I have now gotten this to work on Monterey, but it needed sighted help. I had
to reboot Monterey in safe mode but VoiceOver does not work in Safe mode. My
sighted help had to go to Safari preferences and tick the super agent
extension. Once that is done you can reboot in standard mode and use VoiceOver
as normal.
———
 Hello,
Have any listers got the Super Agent for Safari App working on Mac Monterey
12.2.1? You can install it from the Mac App Store where it is free. You can set
it up to automatically fill in the desired cookie permissions which most web
sites in Europe require and where it is generally so difficult to set up
manually that you choose the easy option of “agree to all cookies” which is
usually not what you want.
I have set this up on IOS and that worked fine. I have installed it on my 2018
iMac and am having difficulty getting it setup. In particular the vital button
to give the extension permission to access all web site data is dimmed.
I would appreciate any tips from anyone who has gotten this to work. It should
be a great time saver for Safari users in Europe.
Many thanks … Paul Hopewell
