Yes, it appears the regression causing the VoiceOver speech interruption issue
has been resolved.

Re: Slack and Voice-over, Can anyone help please?

2021-10-13 Thread Matthew Janusauskas

It will take less of your time to send a Slack message of
/feedback [Description of issue]
Then it has to send the emails to the mailing list.

Much more effective than just hoping it will be fixed in my opinion.

Re: Slack and Voice-over, Can anyone help please?

It appears to be a recent regression. The easiest way to report it directly to
the Slack team is to use the /feebdack command from any conversation window.

I used migration assistant moving from an Intel MacBook Pro to an M1 MacBook

Re: Login window keeps popping up!

2021-06-09 Thread Matthew Janusauskas
Hi Tim,

Is it possible that safe mode functions differently on M1 machines? I followed
the steps I found via Google search that involved booting to the startup /
recovery menu, selecting the normal startup drive and holding down the Shift
key to make the Continue button change to continue in safe mode. The system
then started with what seemed to be a minimal state without any usual startup
apps etc. Audio and VoiceOver was fully functional.

The only way I was able to change the display sleep value in battery
preferences and get it to stick was to boot into safe mode and do it from
there. I’ve never had to do that before.

Thanks for the confirmation of the bug and advice on this. I’ve sent a report
via Feedback Assistant.
Just now when trying to follow your suggestions I’m finding the controls in the
battery preferences all to be dimmed out. A restart didn’t make a difference
either. Any other suggestions to try?

Re: One Password

I would recommend contacting 1Password support if you have not already done so.
They are very interested in the accessibility of their apps and are always
receptive to feedback and suggestions.

I have heard mention several times of this efficiency recipe that Mark has for
quickly reading through large amounts of mail using mail.app on the Mac. I
would be interested in the details. Perhaps a short guide on AppleVis would be

Yes I also experience this on a MacBook Air running Mavericks. I have
not found a solution so far.

Hi,

It appears to be an activation of VoiceOver kind of problem. The
computer is actually functioning properly, VO is just not ready to speak
to you. So, if your Mac requires you to enter your password, just go
ahead and enter it. If you're wanting to start a specific app, you can
still press VO-d to go to the Desktop and press the first couple letters
of the Dock shortcut and press return to open it. Usually, somewhere in
that process, VO will start announcing what you're doing. It's kind of
a pain but, you are correct in that it is a Mavericks thing.

Hi all!
One of the things I've always liked about my macbook pro is that I could
close the lid and when I re-opened it I had almost instant access to the
computer.
Since Mavericks that is not the case. Voiceover will not speak at
first, and there is about 10 seconds in which I cannot do anything at
all but patiently wait for my computer to have its morning cup 'o jo
after waking up;
Does anybody else have this sluggish problem?
Thanks,
Jim

At first glance the app for the mac is 100 percent accessible. The
Downcast for mac app seems to be very similar to the iTunes player
layout. I only have played around with it for a few minutes, and so far
have gotten all of my podcasts from my iPhone on to the mac, just by
clicking the refresh button. All of my episodes have not synched up yet,
but I am working on figuring that out, as I am not really sure how
iPhone sync works with Downcast, if anyone has figured that out, please
let us know. I have gotten an episode to play, and went in and
downloaded an episode that wasn't already there, all very simple to do,
and very accessible. After only a few minutes, I would have to say that
just like their iPhone app, Downcast has knocked it out of the park with
their mac app and accessibility. I haven't played around with all of the
features yet, but I have yet to come across an unlabeled button or
anything I can't get to. If anyone else has run out to buy this app like
me, please let us know your thoughts as. Thanks

RE: organizing bookmarks

Can anyone explain the difference between folders and collections for Safari
bookmarks?

Hello Laura,

After you press Command Option B you'll be in a Search Text Field. VO left
arrow once and you'll find a table. Interact with it (VO-Shift-down arrow)and
you'll see categories for History (for the list of web pages you have visited
so far) Bookmarks Bar, Bookmarks Menu, All RSS Feeds, and one entry for each
bookmark import, if you did any.
Use the up and down arrow keys to move between the categories.

You probably have been adding bookmarks to the Bookmarks Menu, so select that
and stop interacting with the table (VO-Shift-up arrow). VO-right arrow twice
and you're at a different table. Interact with it and you'll see all your
bookmarks.

To create a bookmark folder navigate to the bookmark immediately above where
you want the folder to be and press Command-Shift-N. Type the name you want to
give it (you won't hear it being echoed) and finish with Enter.

To change a bookmark location in the Menu, just cut it (Command-X) and paste it
(Command-V), again on the bookmark immediately above where you want this one to
be.

To change the name or URL of a bookmark, select it and press VO-Shift-M for the
application menu, where you'll find this and other options.

Hope I managed to be clear :-)

Cheers,
André
