Re: IOS 4.1, blutooth keyboard and the iPod Touch as a notetaker for school?
Hi, I have been sending notes via email to an email list while I am on my holidays. The issue of the subject line containing the whole message is easily overcome if you just start your note with a suitable title and then press return a couple of times as if composing a new paragraph. This seems to work for me. When I haven't done this, I just make sure to take the cursor, double tapping when in the edit field, and holding down the backspace on lmy think outside keyboard, till I hear the empty box sort of sound that the iPhone makes when you have reached the end or the beginning of something. I really do think this will be tyhe way to go re note taking etc. Plus, there are programs like Readdledocs, which I do have, but haven't got to grips with yet, but feel sure it will make editing and moving docs between the iphone and a P.C./Mac even more efficient. At the moment, as I have not, and can't, supdate my iphone's os to 4.1 which should improve my control of the edit fields of the iphone via the keyboard, I am still having difficulty editing, but anticipate improvements when I get logged onto a good internet connection and can upgrade! As far as Braille displays are concerned, within the year we should see something really radicle and more affordable coming onto the market! All the best from balmy Italia! Sandy. Re: Making a visual and sound/documented record of my upcoming trip to Italy on my iPhone.
Hi Yuma, Sounds like you are very well organised! I have to admit that I only just thought of doing this and am not at all set up for it. Do you know if I can set up a dropbox account directly from my iPhone? There are technological reasons here why I can't use the laptop. I do possess a blog, which I have barely used till now, so, maybe there is a good place to start, if I can allow mixed media uploads. Are you travelling alone? I will be accompanied by my partner, but hope, with the aid of my dog, my iPhone with its Location based systems and Navigon, to be able to wonder around a little da sola! I will try with the visuals, but don't see the screen, so will probably use sound and text rather more. I hadn't thought of Facebook, thanks for that thought. Hmmm, you have put me to shame, must try to get a bit sorted and start the ball rolling before the off! Please send me a link to your blog Yuma, I will be so interested to follow your progress. Ciao amico! Sandy. Making a visual and sound/documented record of my upcoming trip to Italy on my iPhone.
Hi there to all you knowledgeable people! Myself, partner and Guide dog are off on holiday to Italy tomorrow. Leaving from Dublin. What I would love to do is create a sort of mixed media diary of our travels on the iPhone. This may well be beyond me as, 'tis true, I am still having the frustrating problems using simple apps like Documents or Readdledocs, but, nothing daunted, will forge ahead with this project anyway. Can anyone offer tips and tricks for doing this? Are there, perchance, any apps specially devised for such a project? Can I upload to the laptop with which I sync my iPhone, video clips, documents and sound recordings? Indeed, even sound recordings: is this functionality inbuilt into the iPhone 4? In anticipation, Sandy. Sent from my iPhone -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. readdledocs anyone?
Hi There, It is a bit embarrassing, but I just installed readdledocs on my iPhone 4 and can't get started with it as the user guide is in PDF format and I don't know how to use the functionality of the app to access the guide. I wonder, can anyone push me in the right direction to get started? Thanks heaps! Sandy. Re: Bluetooth keyboards for the iPhone and accented character support; Think Outside Bluetooth keyboards [was Re: great news about the mini bluetooth keyboard!]
Hi Chris and Anne, Yes, mine is a Think Outside keyboard of the Stowaway variety. I found a forum full of iPhone and think outside keyboard users. Well, after a lot of trial and error, it was discovered that those with the new iPhone 4 phones had no issues with maintaining the bluetooth pairing, but that those with the 3gs running IOS4 had the same issues as you are experiencing Chris. So, this isn't definitive, but looks reasonably likely to be the case. Now I shall have to get to grips with some keyboard commands, not having used this baby for a few years! Re: Bluetooth keyboards for the iPhone and accented character support; Think Outside Bluetooth keyboards [was Re: great news about the mini bluetooth keyboard!]
Hi Chris, First of all, I must apologise if my message appears both at the top and the bottom of this thread, I forgot to move the insertion point to the top. I discovered from a little researching on the net that only the iPhone 4 will hold the bluetooth pairing. Hopefully, this will improve with time and upgrades to the bluetooth stack. Still, either way, this is so much better than using the soft keyboard isn't it? Happy typing, Sandy. Chris, From my researches via Google I discovered that only the iPhone 4 will stay paired and that the 3Gs won't. Sorry about that, but, as with many things, many people are working on this and improvements in the inbuilt drivers may well sort this for you. Happy typing! Sandy. Hi Ester, Just a comment re the Think Outside keyboard: I am using it with my iPhone and find that with the iPhone 4, at least, there is no need to repair the bluetooth after breaking the connection. Mine just reconnects as soon as I touch a key. So this is great! Thanks for the super description of the keys, I have forgotten where most of the are, so reading your mail will be very useful. Re: voice over scripts
Hi, I apologise in advance if I am missing the point here, but aren't all apps vetted by apple before being approved for the app store? In which case, mightn't the best way, to make sure that all apps are accessible, be to approach Apple, reminding them of their sterling work re Voiceover and encouraging them to include accessibility as part of their vetting procedure? Hallo the list, My name is Sandy Tomkins and I have just joined you. I have, on loan from college, a Mac Book Pro, which I am endeavoring to learn to use and have just ordered an iPhone 4g, my first iPhone. So, Voiceover and the Apple platform are both new to me and I am experiencing quite a learning curve with them. I suppose, re the MBP, I am falling between two stools, because I mix up my use of the multi-touch pad with the keyboard commands and am not quite managing to master either. Hoping that when the iPhone arrives I might get a little more comfortable with the gestures, which attract me mightily! Probably, this will have been touched upon before and I would hate to clutter up the list with things already spoken of at length, but the world of iPhone Apps is totally new to me. Would anyone like to recommend their favourite apps. There appears to be about a quarter of a million of them out there so I don't know where to begin! Thanks for any input and any advice as to how to get to grips with VO and the gestures most welcome. All the very best to you all, Sandy. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group.
