I too have a carpal tunnel issue. I also look forward to accessing the book app
with voice commands, and minimal keystrokes.

I tried assigning the read next sentence and read prior sentence commands to
single keys in the Quick NAV and keyboard commanders, but they don’t function
and text field of iBooks for some reason. So, I then rigged up a system of a
piece of wood and a 2 1/2 pound weight to hold down the function control option
and command keys and therefore allowing me to read down and up Buy sentence
with a single key press on the up and down arrows. This will save a lot of wear
and tear on my left hand nerves.

The

Epub books with ibooks app

2020-02-14 Thread hemakarah
Hi all,

I downloaded a book from Bookshare. It was in Epub format. First time, I could
access the book flawlessly using the Ibook app on the Mac. Second time, it
could read just the cover page. It was just saying bullet, bullet, and the
like. No idea why this happened. Kindly guide me. Kurzweil 3000 looks very
accessible when it comes to bookshare. But the software is damn expensive for
me.

Take care,

Hem.

Hi all,

I read that we should rename or convert books downloaded from Bookshare into
HTML format. Of course, one can read these books with Safari and other
browsers. Can we make the browsers remember a particular place in the book?
Kindly let me know.

Thanks so much for all your suggestions and comments.

What do you mean by exporting? Are you talking about the portability feature?

Hello,

I have always had mouse cursor set up to follow VO cursor. As for other
configurations, there are so many you will probably need to experiment.
Remember, once you’ve configured Voiceover to your liking, you can export
configurations and keep them in case you ever have to reset Voiceover. It will
make things easier for you. Good luck.

I also discovered the remarkable VO J keystroke. It comfortably enables me to

I am also looking for some tips on using the numpad and trackpad commander. For

You could install MacTeX and then write your document in LaTeX with whatever
text editor you prefer. TextMate would be a good option. Also, TeXShop (part of
the MacTeX distribution) seems to be fairly accessible.

Another possibility would be to write in Markdown, then use Pandoc to convert
the document to PDF or HTML. However, if you want greater control of layout and
presentation, LaTeX is the right tool to use.

For a good introduction:
http://latex.silmaril.ie/formattinginformation/index.html

If you want to write papers or books with a bibliography and references, there
are automatic citation generation tools for both Pandoc and LaTeX.

Is there any VO friendly App for Mac OS Catalina which uses mark up tags to
create a document and then process it to create PDF or DOCX files?
Many thanks for any tips.

Hi,

Yes, you can press tab to move between fields. No, you don't need to be
interacting with anything when creating a new Mail message. Just press cmd-n
to start. Your cursor should start in the "To" field, then press tab twice to
get to the next edit field which is the cc field, etc. Press cmd-shift-d to
send it after you're done.

Hi,

No, the alias is simply a pointer to the original file or document so deleting
the alias only deletes the alias. The keyboard command for creating an alias
is cmd-l. As already mentioned, use cmd-delete to put an item into the Trash.
With respect to Mail, use cmd-n to start a new Mail message, use cmd-r to reply
to a message you have just read, use cmd-shift-d to send the message you just
composed. Use Delete to delete a message.

You can create an alias for a file, so that whatever changes you make to the
alias, it will also change the original — or vice-versa. I put my aliases on my
desktop so they are easy to find. You can also put an alias on your dick if
that works better for you.

Subject: Text based resource for iOS 13 from a blindness perspective

I am one of those folks who vastly prefers text based resources for learning
rather than Podcasts. I find that much more efficient, especially when it comes
to needing to refer to something that you’ve already read and forgotten. So, I
am wondering if there is going to be a text based resource this year for iOS
13. Jonathan Mosen used to do an excellent one, but he’s not doing it anymore.

I know a couple of folks have done text based resources, and Anna, who is one
of them, is on at least some of the list where I’m sending this message. The
thing I liked about Jonathan‘s book was that it came out when you needed it,
simultaneously with the upgrade. So I’m wondering if anybody knows whether
Anna‘s book or perhaps Shelly’s book are going to be released in the near
future. Hoping for something besides podcasts, please!
Mary

Keep in mind that the body of an email message is not an edit field so the
system focus can not move to it. That is why tab doesn’t work in this
instance. If this is indeed what you are talking about.
