Re: How do I save a voice memo sent from my wife's iPhone?
Hi, if you control click on the voice memo file in the email, is there an option to save as? If so, you could save it somewhere, then use ITunes' Add To Library function to navigate to where you saved the file, then hit ok. It should then be in your iTunes Library. You might even be able to put it in the Voice Memos playlist. On May 5, 2012, at 3:36 PM, Kevin Gibbs wrote: How do I save it to iTunes? Anyone else hate the way Ebay works with Zoom?
When you see an ebay page, and you scroll up to look at the picture, you can't just zoom in on that and move around. Instead you're presented with a little virtual magnifying glass, that shows the image off to the side. That doesn't do us much good, unless we zoom out with Zoom in the mac. I find this very annoying, and was wondering if ya'll though it would do any good to contact ebay about this? The old way was so much nicer where you could just see different angles in a normal picture. What do you all think? Egun On, Lagunak! (Basque for G'day, Mates) Louie P. do on the pc is audio gaming, and not so much as a good, accessible version of Solitaire is available on the Mac, let alone shooting, strategy, or other intensively audio games. I am still willing to admit that a good, long skype session with someone who is an experienced Mac user may help me, but as of right now I almost never boot into Mac, using the Windows half of my dual-booting mini almost exclusively. If you do switch, make sure to either set up bootcamp or a virtual machine so you can run Windows, because I can pretty much promise that you will still be using Windows for a while after you start playing with the mac. Re: Switching to a Mac from PC
Just out of curiosity, can you name other areas of superiority of ZoomText over Zoom besides what I've mentioned? And do you think maybe these extra features add to the instability problems the OP mentions? I'm just curious, as Zoom does seem to run very flawlessly on the mac, limitations aside. And you don't have to pay $150 for upgrades every time the browser or OS is updated (I'm only stating what the Original poster said earlier). I think knowing what features ZT has that people want could help the folks at apple know how they can best improve Zoom. Myself, I never really miss the features I had with ZT and Windows. I get very close using Zoom and VO together on my Mac. Ymmv. On Jan 7, 2012, at 9:22 PM, M. I have been lobbying AI Squared, the makers of Zoomtext, to port ZT over to the Mac. I hope, someday, that it will. Zoom does not have the doc reader app, but will happily move along with VoiceOver as VO reads text. Zoom can quickly change magnification with ctrl+ 2 finger up/down on the trackpad, which I find is just as handy as using the wheel on a mouse. I don't do any gaming, 90% of my computer uses buying online, word processing, and web development But having dealt with Zoom text for the last 15 years, I am totally frustrated with the program. I have to reboot it about five times every day in order to get the text smooting to work. And it no longer works with Internet Explorer nine. How it all works is pretty simple. I take on unwanted apple mac systems from companies and individuals who are happy to donate either computers, parts, software or other products. They are then serviced, tested, upgraded and cleaned by myself, the necessary operating systems installed and ready to go at no cost to me or to potential recipients. It's a project I believe in very much and have a support structure in place including sponsors who have kindly donated tools, diagnostic equipment and their services to help out. A part of the work involved requires working with older macs including powermacs before G3 blue and white systems where SCSI drives are in use, etc. So the use of Mac OS 9.2 is going to be an essential for some users. I am kitted out with all the software I need in terms of OS installs, etc with help from some amazing people out there. The downfall to this is the lack of one piece of software which is important. That is of course OutSPOKEN 9.2 to do all the work needed and where possible include this as a screen reader to users who may receive an older mac, if anything above a g3 blue and white capable of OS 10.4 isn't available to them. This means that the standard, non line-quality microphone you may have, as I do, will not work with a Mac's microphone jack. You either need a converter, a microphone that is certified to work with Macs, or a USB microphone. make a usb boot drive
Hi all, Has anyone been able to create a usb boot drive using the below instructions? Subject: Build your own Lion install USB thumb drive for cheap Date: August 11, 2011 12:00:00 PM PDT Build your own Lion install USB thumb drive for cheap Why pay Apple $69.99 when you can build your own Lion install drive for the App Store purchase price of $29.99 -- plus the cost of an inexpensive thumb drive. Here's how to create a full install on a drive, not just the recovery disk that we recently posted about. You'll need a copy of the OS X Lion installer. If you saved a copy when you first installed Lion, great. If not, you'll need to re-download it from the Mac App Store. To do so, launch the App Store and option-click the Purchases tab. An Install button should appear next to Lion. Click it to re-download the installer. You can use this option-click-Purchases trick to re-download any purchase, not just Lion. Once the 3.74-GB installer finishes downloading, go to your Applications folder to find the installer itself. It is called Install Mac OS X Lion. Right-click (or Control-click) the installer and choose Show Package Contents from the contextual pop-up. A new Finder browser window opens, showing the normally hidden material inside the installer bundle. Navigate to Contents SharedSupport. There you'll find a disk image called InstallESD.dmg. Open a new Finder window with Command-N (File New Finder Window). Navigate to /Applications/Utilities and launch DiskUtility. Attach a thumb drive to your Mac that is at least 4GB 8GB in size. (Update: some readers say 4GB isn't enough. As you can see, I used a 16GB drive) Prepare it for use by creating a single HFS+ partition. Select the drive (e.g. SanDisk Ultra) in the left hand column. Drives are listed first with their partitions listed after them, each partition indented slightly. With this drive selected, click the Partition tab and choose Partition Layout 1 Partition. Choose Format Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Click the Options button at the bottom-right of the partition layout. Select GUID Partition Table. Click Apply. Disk Utility asks you to confirm. Click Partition. Wait as it unmounts, partitions, and remounts your disk. Next, select the new partition (Untitled 1 by default). Click the Restore tab. Click Install next to the source field. Drag InstallESD.dmg into the file-open window and click Open. Drag Untitled 1 from the left column to the destination field. Click Restore and agree to Erase the drive and replace it with the contents of InstallESD.dmg. You may have to authenticate as an administrator. Wait. It will take some time for the drive to be written. Once it's done, eject it, label it clearly, and put it away for a rainy day. Meanwhile, go out and spend the $40 you just saved wisely. another change in Lion
Hi all, I have another item that is not working like it did in SL. In SL when I would download a daisy talking book from NLS I would be switched to the download folder the first time I downloaded a davy talking book. dropbox script
Hi all, There is a area on the menu bar that Voice over can not navigate to. Because some menu bar items are dynamic and are not always on the same place on the menu bar. I have developed a apple script that searches the menu bar and will find the growl or dropbox menu. The script will search the menu bar for any menu name you put in the edit field. The default name is dropbox. The search starts from the right side of the screen on the menu bar and moves to the left. When the menu item is found the item is clicked and a verbal announcement tells you that you are on the drop down menu. From this point you can use voice over navigation to explore the drop down menu. If the script finds the help menu item the search stops. and announces that the name of the menu item that you put in the edit field is not on the menu bar. The script requires a new folder be created in your home folder. In the new folder a small Unix binary that I will provide you will place in the new folder. Contact me off list if you want to use this script. louie louiem...@wavecable.com -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. Blue tooth headset
Hi all, I just got a new bluetooth headset. it's the M100 by plantronics. The headset when turned on tells me that power is on and it tells me the talk time that is left before it binds with my Mac mini. When the power is turned off the headset tells me power off. These announcement are spoken in a pleasant female voice. After the binding process is completed a dialog comes up telling me BluetoothAudioAgent dialog alert Would you like to use the Bluetooth “1xxPlantronics (Mono)” as your audio device? Use This Device default button. If you click the default button all of the audio is heard through the head set. The headset tells you that you are connected. When you turn off the headset the default system audio is restored. I have tried skype and a VOIP client using the headset and it works well. The cost is 59 bucks from the apple store. louie louiem...@wavecable.com -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups MacVisionaries group. Hi all, I very much like the updated skype. Now we can tell the status of our on line contacts. In the old skype you could tell the total number of people that were using Skype. In this new version I can't find that information. Any one know how to find this information?
