Andrew:

Possibly a conversational interface device like an Amazon Echo might be
a better path. There's pretty much no option but the audio interface for
Alexa Skills (or the Google equivalents). So, there's no mixing of
screen and audio content, at least not yet. Those days are coming, of
course, but for now it's all audio all the way with my Alexa Skills for
German news in slow German (which is almost slow enough for me).

Best,

Janina

Re: Accessibility of duolingo or similar software on iPhone

2020-02-14 Thread Jonathan Cohn
I stopped using DuoLingo after my trip last May, but in the year prior to that
it was constantly getting better for me to use. Especially with Braille
support. Around Jan 2019 they put in features that made keyboard input switch
languages based on if the answer was supposed to be in Hebrew or English. I
also saw general progress in the advertising screens being less troublesome.
When I first was using DuoLingo, when I got a spinner to get a “prize” I
couldn’t activate it with VoiceOVer, and when I received an advertisement, I
would just wait a day to use the app again, or click on No more ads and then
click on “No Thanks” for the option to pay $5/month to get no ads.
HTH,
Jonathan

Accessibility of duolingo or similar software on iPhone

2020-02-14 Thread 'Andrew Lamanche' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

I was wondering whether duolingo or any other languages study app might be
accessible with voiceover? In particular, I’m interested in learning Mandarin
Chinese.

Andrew
