Hi,
I’m using a Intel Mac with VM Ware.
I never had a problem with the Caps key.
Did you select the Caps key  or the insert key in the Orca settings?

No, I always run Orca directly on hardware, not virtualized. Your desktop 
environment of choice may have options to remap keys. If you’re using an X 
session, there is, if I remember correctly, a configuration file you can 
create. I would suggest doing some Web searches.
The solution is almost certainly in the operating system, not in a third-party 
tool that you load.

Capslock in Linux

Hi,

Does anyone know of a way to issue the Capslock key in a Linux OS when running 
Parallels on a silicon Mac?  On Windows I remap a key using Sharp Keys or the 
recently updated Windows Power Toys.

I’m just trying to figure out how to issue commands to ORCA.

So the number pad is what i want ok I’ll look into
deedra waters that tomorrow i’m about btrain dead from beating my head on the 
walls with this stupid thing.:P I havre decided that once it’s backed up i flat 
out refuse to do something like setting this up again Then again i suppose the 
doing this once thing means i should know how to do it the next time.:P

Hi Deedra,
The purpose of these two programs is to remap the caps lock to an insert key in 
your vm.  As I recall, the correct code is 110 (not 50).  Of course, you need 
to disable the caps lock behavior in mac keyboard preferences.  You also don’t 
need to do any key mappings in vmware preferences.  
The whole point of remapping capslock is to give you an insert key to use in 
windows screen readers like nvda and jaws.  This insert key is also recognized 
by orce in linux but sadly not by speakup.  However,  Karabiner gives you a 
numpad which speakup does in fact recognize.  

I wish there were better documentation on all of this, but I think you’re 
almost there!

Ok so seil and karabiner are installed. I changed the capslock keycode to 50 
since i want it to be the  accent key. I have the capslock mapped to the accent

Chris, that’s easier said then done i dont need a second keyboard to carry 
around:P and since i got this one with the macbook i’d rather not use 2 
keyboards.

I’ll look into those programs the link i read didn’t say anything about those.

remapping the capslock for linux

So i managed to unearth 2 emails which suggests remapping the capslock to an ` 
key however doing this in vmware still does not pass the  capslock to the vm, 
it says ` when i type `. does anyone have any info on how to do this for linux? 
All i see on applevis is stuff for windows something called sharpkeys never 
heard of it.
