Yeah it’s odd,
Dunedin won that gigabit town comp a few years back and I’ve not yet seen a
gigabit related speed

I get mixed results both at home and work

But still it’s not good enough for what I pay.

See, now I find that interesting. I can’t really complain about download
speeds. I noticed comments on different lists stating how long the IOS 12.2
and the latest Mac OS took to download and install. But honestly, it only took
about 10 or 15 minutes on the iPhone to download and install. The Mac took
about the same time. I used to get very slow uploads when using Dropbox, b but
haven’t tried it for a couple of years now.

Simon,

iCloud is basically just a folder. You can organize it however you want. So
you could have a folder for books one for music, etc.

Re: Dropbox Changes

2019-04-15 Thread 'Shawn Krasniuk' via MacVisionaries
I understand that. While things most certainly shouldn't be entirely free, I do
say there should be more pricing plans. When you're on a fixed income and
you're paying for other services, $10 a month is a pretty steap price. Not only
that, but I certainly do not need a terabyte of storage. If they had a similar
pricing structure like iCloud, I would consider paying for them. But
unfortunately, that's not the case. This is why I'm trying to figure out this
PCloud thing and while Jessica's suggestion is ok for others, I don't want the
app on my phone. I work on my Mac most of the time. So I'm asking this again,
what do I have to do to be able to share files? It's not showing up in the
share menu.

2019-04-15 Thread Petrus Tuerlings
See, now I find that interesting. I can’t really complain about download
speeds. I noticed comments on different lists stating how long the IOS 12.2
and the latest Mac OS took to download and install. But honestly, it only took
about 10 or 15 minutes on the iPhone to download and install. The Mac took
about the same time. I used to get very slow uploads when using Dropbox, b but
haven’t tried it for a couple of years now.

2019-04-15 Thread Maurice Mines
Hello, a point of clarification here. The restriction on devices is
for quote free accounts only. Those of us who have paid for dropbox are
not affected in any way shape or form. So while this thread goes on, and
on. Remember the state quote discussion about free services if you want
free you get nothing. There is no such thing as a free lunch ever! If
you want service, unfortunately you must pay for the service. I know I
may sound harsh and nasty but that’s the answer I got dropbox. They
will try to address the concerns about things such as blindness specific
applications that link to their service. In the next release. But that
fixable only be for paid customers. I think all the other services will
adopt similar policies to dropbox. Unfortunately this is a capitalist
system. I think I’ve said enough on this one. Please do not send me
flaming emails they won’t be read they will just simply be deleted.
For the record, I don’t work for nor do I have any financial
relationship with dropbox other than what a normal customer would have.

I think the fastest way to do this, is to have the app on your phone as well,
then from there, you just select what you want, locate the share button next to
the item you want to share, then select how you want to share it.

Simon,

iCloud is basically just a folder. You can organize it however you want. So
you could have a folder for books one for music, etc.
Best,
Donna

I would imagine that storage is good regardless of which platform since
iCloud Drive uses shared folders,

Do not unlink any devices and you are safe. Dropbox is on 5 devices here.
The limit is 3 but unless I unlink any of them its good.

Hello Donna.  Google Drive and Dropbox have easy ways to
share links to files.  In Dropbox, you right-click on the

probably Vo Shift M on the Mac.  After you bring up the
context menu, there is an option to copy link.  I didn’t

2019-04-14 Thread Petrus Tuerlings
Hi again,
I managed to install Drop Box, however I’m unable to sign in with my Mac as
I’m already linked up with three devices. I know one of them is my old windows
machine that I’m not even sure if it will still boot up? I can’t think what the
other device is, unless it is my old iPhone 5s that I reset to factory
settings and gave to my sister. And there is the drop box app on my iPhone 8+.
Is there a way I can unlink devices from the web -site?

Re: Dropbox Changes

2019-04-14 Thread Petrus Tuerlings
Hi all,
Thought I could ask this in the current thread as it has to do with Drop Box.
Is there an App for Drop Box on the Mac or are you using the Web? I have the
Drop Box App on my iPhone, but couldn’t find one in the Mac App Store?
Sorry for asking a silly question.

I would imagine that storage is good regardless of which platform
since iCloud Drive uses shared folders,

Do not unlink any devices and you are safe. Dropbox is on 5 devices
here. The limit is 3 but unless I unlink any of them its good.

sharing service when I already pay for iCloud. It’s so handy to have a
storage facility you can share among many devices for copying
transferring files & folders.

Maurice,
After I enabled iCloud Drive on Mac and iDevices, I installed iCloud
for Windows and though there were apparently some errors, when I
accessed iCloud Drive from the start menu, I saw some shared folders.
Then I went back to the start menu and right clicked iCloud Drive and
used the 'Send to' option to place it in Local Drive for easy access.

2019-04-14 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Andrew,

I'd die without iCloud. I use Word constantly for work, and I like it better
on the PC than on the Mac. I keep almost all my work files in iCloud, so I can
access them from either computer. It works flawlessly. I have an iCloud icon
on my PC desktop, and when I open it, it looks like any other Windows file
directory. The thing is, I have absolutely no memory of how I got it set up.
Cheers,
Donna

Donna,

Can you use iCloud storage on Windows side too? I have both mac & windows
machines & having used dropbox for many years Dropbox is now becoming a bit
difficult as I’ve recently received warnings about number of devices connected
and I don’t really want to pay for another storage sharing service when I
already pay for iCloud. It’s so handy to have a storage facility you can share
among many devices for copying transferring files & folders.

So I have a question how does one access iCloud and Windows? I can
access it just fine on my phone, and on my Mac? But I’ve never been
able to get it to work in Windows. Any thoughts?

Re: Dropbox Changes

2019-04-13 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

It kind of depends on the file how easy it is to share in iCloud.
Specifically, you are correct in that right-clicking to share any file is not
supported in iCloud Drive, but if you're using Pages, Keynote, Numbers, Notes
or a number of other Apple and third party services, these can be shared from
within the documents themselves. No, not as slick as Google Drive or DropBox,
but doable. For Google Drive, it's best to use something like their Backup &
Sync app so that it creates a Finder item that you can use just like the Finder
version of DropBox.

I've had it set up for so long, I couldn't begin to tell you. But I don't
remember having any problems getting it set up. I have an iCloud icon on my

2019-04-13 Thread Ryan Mann
Hello Donna. Google Drive and Dropbox have easy ways to share links to files.
In Dropbox, you right-click on the file, hit the Applications key/ Shift F10 in
Windows and probably Vo Shift M on the Mac. After you bring up the context
menu, there is an option to copy link. I didn’t remember this being available
with iCloud drive. Is it?

I've never done anything with Growl since I began using a Mac last spring.
With the improved notification center in Mountain Lion, I don't see any value
in it anymore. Maybe I'm missing something but what notifications I've seen,
all works fine with base stuff.

Not sure if this helps your situation or not.
