Hi, I'm not sure that this is completely valid. I still use the Messages app on my Mac for FaceBook messaging. I thought some others were commenting this way a while back when there was a thread about this process on one of the lists, but people still got it set up fine. Hi Maurice. You won't be able to access Facebook with Messages because Facebook has dropped support for the Jabber protocol. If you want to be able to chat with people on Facebook on the Mac, I highly recommend Trillian. You can get it free on the Mac App Store.
