Re: I might need a new audio interface for recording. What's accessible?
Hi! Sounds intresting. I may buy a new synth and i have found some combined synth/midi/audio interfaces from roland. One of them seems really great but the price is very steap. Its the roland integra 7. /A 7 apr 2015 kl. 03:58 skrev Phil Halton philh...@gmail.com: I use the Roland QuadCapture audio interface. the control panel is practically inaccessible, but the important stuff is accessible. you can set various important settings like sampling rate etc, but you can’t use the built-in effects like compression etc. But, that’s not a problem since those functions are available elsewhere. What I like most about the Roland QC is the auto gain setting. a press of a button and the unit will auto sense your mic levels and set the gain accordingly. Also, in the control panel, manually setting the gain is accessible as VO will announce the changes in the gain knob setting as you turn up or down the gain knob. So, if you know what level you want, you can dial it in with VO feedback. It has some interesting quirks also that make it quite versatile. You can assign the input and output drivers to either the same app as in your favorite DAW, or assign each driver to a different app, in which case the unit intelligently handles the various mix functions in some interesting ways that I won’t elaborate on here. Re: I might need a new audio interface for recording. What's accessible?
OK, well, by the sounds of it then, the C400, if you can find one would definitely do the trick. What's also nice about it is, no electrical cord. It's literally just simply powered by USB, and absolutely nothing more, and is quite portable. The two XLR in's definitely also do have phantom power ability, so if you need that, it's there. Also each channel has a padding button for a 10DB cut, if you need it. Then you have your gain dials, and mute buttons for all your outputs. You also get a stereo quarter inch headphone out, a master volume control, a memory button which you can preset to basically any function within your DAW of choice, although I'm not sure how to do so, as I never did it. Then, finally, there's also obviously an independent dial for headphone monitor volume level. It's a sweet! little interface! It's a shame that they no longer make it. As I say though, I can almost betcha that you could find one online still totally new and unopened. Nice interface, BTW. I know that the M-Audio Fasttrack C400 isn't made anymore, although they're floating around on Amazon. I think they might even still have some in stock that are completely new, never even opened. Of corse there's also always EBay, and don't forget, EBay isn't jused used or refurbished items. Some EBay store murchants even have them new. It's really hard though for me to say what you need. I mean, how many channels do you need, like how many outs/ins. Do you need Spiddif, do you need RCA in/out, do you need XLR in's, I mean, do you need midi,... I need more info. I know the FocusRight interfaces are extremely good, but I confess I'm not really familiar with each model individually.
