All current Mac CD/DVD drives can burn CDs and DVDs. The process to do that would need a lot more detail and depends on your source material and what tools you are using to edit it. They do not support BluRay. Why is a whole other interesting discussion. Maybe I missed it but I didn't notice an answer to this one. Mac laptops come with two types of displays. The Retina displays are much higher resolution, to the point where the retina of the human eye can't actually detect the individual pixels anymore. Of course the Retina displays are also higher cost. Non-retina displays are all the rest of the displays. Re: MacBook Inquiries.
There is Flash, the web browser plugin that lets you play the proprietary Flash multimedia files often used to play videos or games on the web and is usually inaccessible. Flash is also a type of memory which, unlike traditional computer memory, does not lose its content when power is disconnected. So those little USB thumb drives and stuff are sometimes called Flash drives because they use Flash memory. Flash memory has finally become cheap enough to be used for mass storage instead of a hard drive. While it's still more expensive than a normal spinning disk, it is also much faster and takes much less power. It 'should' also be much more resistant to issues from bangs and bumps because there are no moving parts. How do I switch between commands help and getting started? Is there any way to hide the getting started option? How is verbosity changed, or does this not apply to MacBookPros? - Original Message - From: John Panarese jpanar...@gmail.com To: macvisionaries@googlegroups.com Sent: Saturday, March 23, 2013 10:59 PM Subject: Re: MacBook Inquiries. Start with VO-h. That is the main help menu and contains all of the ways to get help, including commands help and the getting started guide. It is the best place to start. Adding additional languages for VoiceOver is done through the VoiceOver Utility under the Speech category in the Voices tab. You need to select the, Custom, from the default voice popup button and then use the table that will next be presented to choose the other voices you desire. Check the boxes of the ones you want. There is a, play, button to the right for samping voices. When you have made your selections, choose the, OK, button, to download the voices. Be aware that some of the voices are large, so they might take some time to download. Once you have them, you can choose them from the popup button or, as an easier alternative, you can use control-option-command-right or left arrow until you get to, Efault Voice. Then use control-option-command-up or down arrow to change the voice. Take Care John D. Hi Anita. Yeah, unfortunately if you want a Macbook that has an optical drive, then the MacBook Pro is the best for you. There used to be a standard white MacBook which I have but they only sell those to university students now. Hello Anita an optical drive plays and write Cds/Dvds. You can get both internal and external optical drives, called super drives. To change VoiceOver settings press vo-f8. If you have function keys set for hardware functions, which it is by default, you need to add fn to the combination. Also vo is control-option, kind of like a modifier. Chris. Hello Anita Windows on mac is discussed quite a lot on this and other lists. While it is possible to run Windows on mac, the easiest and truly accessible way to do this is with a paid product called Vmware Fusion. That's all I will say for now until you get your mac up and running. I'm only trying to save confusion here, and hopefully not being more a hindrance than a help. Chris. Re: MacBook Inquiries.
