Re: Buying VMFusion 7 Pro.

2014-09-08 Thread Todd W
The VMware comparison charts make no differentiation between which guest
OSs can be virtualized under Fusion. The Fusion standard editions (I'm
still running 5) support the various flavors of Windows and Windows Server
along with Linux. The Fusion Pro is geared towards IT professionals who
want integration with vSphere in an enterprise environment pluse a myriad
of other advanced features. If you were running a Mac Pro with tons of
memory and lots of GPU memory it might be advantageous to have Pro as it
will allow you to allocate up to 64Gb of RAM and also specifically allocate
GPU memory for running hoggish graphics rendering apps like AutoCAD.

Re: Buying VMFusion 7 Pro.

2014-09-08 Thread Annie Skov Nielsen
Hi.

Ok I do not know. My brother told me, that the difference on the vm fusion and
the vm fusion pro is that the vm fusion only lets you run windows and the pro
version lets you run other virtualisation systems too as linux. But I am not an
expert.

Best regards Annie.

Re: Buying VMFusion 7 Pro.

2014-09-08 Thread 'Chris Blouch' via MacVisionaries
Odd, I had never heard this before. I thought you could run Linux on any
kind of vmware. Just checked and vmware even provides documentation on
how to do it:

http://pubs.vmware.com/fusion-6/index.jsp?topic=/com.vmware.fusion.help.doc/GUID-4919245A-CD5D-4FC7-B5D0-4D90DFAFC7F7.html

I haven't tried it but it doesn't seem to imply needing the pro version.

I also got the server error the first two times I tried to buy vmware fusion.

Re: Buying VMFusion 7 Pro.

2014-09-06 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
I got my 7 Pro last night so I'm waiting for the next version Yousemity (I
can't even spell it) but you all know what I mean as I'm going to do a clean
install as I always do and this time I can't use Terminal. As Sabahattin says
you get two hard discs in a Mac mini server as I'll be putting the VM7 Pro on
one and it'll have the new thing which I can't spell.

Yeah, but even if you don't actually run OS X Server, the Server Mini is the
only one with two identical SSDs inside. That's the ideal machine for using
either OS X or bootcamped/virtualised Windows in simultaneously. It works very
well, though I'm now using mine for RAID 0 Linux. :)

Hi.

Another thing is as I understand it that you need the pro version if you e.g.
wants to run linux.

I can really recommend vmware fusion pro it is much faster here than version 6.
I also got the server error the first two times I tried to buy vmware fusion.

My brother helped me to buy it from windows that worked, but I think it was a
coincidence.

Best regards Annie.

Reasons to get Pro: encryption, advanced networking, a few more CPU control
features, Player Plus key for redistributing your VMs. None, by any means,
essential, but all nice to have. :)

2014-09-05 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
I will try it again when I get home as I am at work using Windows and VMWare
does not work so well on Windows! I have always bought the Pro so not going to
break a habbit of a life time since I've had Fusion as I'm just upgrading.

Why get pro? I just got standard and that was fine. Had no problems
purchasing from www.vmware.com it redirects you to the store you need.

Subject: Buying VMFusion 7 Pro.

Morning.

Now I have caught up with most of my E-mail lists, and have read the most
important things, I tried buying Fusion 7 Pro. It didn't matter what I did,
selecting Pay Pal or my Debit Visa card there was an error at the end of the
buying process which VM knew about as it said if we had problems with any
paying method there was an E-mail given which we had to write to. Has anyone
encountered problems buying VMFusion? I don't know when this will be fixed.
I used Digital River as I am in the UK.

Kawal.
