RE: Getting a setting to stick in iBooks

2016-05-06 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi Mary,

Yes I see what you mean, it's odd, I tried the same thing and it keeps kicking
you out of the title etc tab, back to book shelf.

I really need to edit my books so the meta data keeps it all together.

I don't think bookshelf is an overall setting. It is part of a group of four
buttons apparently, based on what voiceover tells me. And if you're in a
category, such as cookbooks, or novels, and you sent to titles, then you close
the app and come back you're back to bookshelf again. There's no way it seems
to have titles set as your default listing view if you can call it that. Also,
if you select titles, bookshelf then becomes unselected, another indicator that
it is part of a group, and not a standalone setting that supersedes other
things no matter what.

I don't think bookshelf is an overall setting. It is part of a group of four
buttons apparently, based on what voiceover tells me. And if you're in a

RE: Getting a setting to stick in iBooks

2016-05-06 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi Mary & Mark,

I've not yet looked at this as my iBooks is a mess

However what I wonder is if the "book Shelf" setting is an overall setting as
books sit in a book shelf,

And then with in that they are possibly sorted by
Title,
Authur or Catagories. The forth option.
I've just tried this and Yeah Mary I see what you mean.

It kind of looks like when your wanting to find a book it will sort by those
3 options, but otherwise it is just the bookshelf where you view everything you
have.

Hi Mark,
Well, the easiest way is to just open iBooks. Assuming it opens to your my
books tab, which it seems to do by default, you will find that there are four
buttons near the top, just under the buttons where you set your collection and
your view, grid or list. These four buttons are on the left, bookshelf, which
is the default and the one which keeps coming back, then title, author, and I
can't remember the fourth one since I can't have that open while I am dictating
this email. Select the "title" button by double tapping it. Close iBooks.
Remove it from your ass switcher. We open iBooks. It will open to your books
tab and you will find that once again bookshelf is set, rather than how you
left it which was titles. I cannot find a way to keep the setting I have
entered as my new permanent setting.
Mary

RE: Getting a setting to stick in iBooks

2016-05-06 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Mary,

Well, I can confirm your findings.  However I am not certain this is a bug;
although you should definitely report this to Apple if you think it should be
addressed.

To others who may also be interested in experimenting with this, it should be
made clear that in order to see the Titles button, one must first set the
display view to List, as opposed to Grid view. I was unaware of the Titles
button as I use the grid view in order to browse through my titles.

Hi Mark,
Well, the easiest way is to just open iBooks.

Hello Mary,

I'll be happy to test this out for you but please provide the exact steps you
take in order to configure iBooks.

I will follow those exact same steps and report back later.

In iBooks on the iPhone and the iPad, and I assume on the Mac, although I do
not use iBooks on my Mac, as it is a big pain in the backside, you have the
option of having your books display as bookshelf, by author, by title, or by
category. I want my books displayed in order of title within my various folders
in iBooks. I double tap that button, but every time I do something in iBooks,
it reverts to "bookshelf". I have checked in settings, there seems to be no way
to set this permanently. It just keeps on defaulting to bookshelf, the worst
choice, in my view. Is there anyway to set it and forget it?

Mary
